What he says here about REM, I hope John got to meet them. I did at their concert at a college years ago, right before they became wildly popular. They are very nice guys. John would have loved them.
He's so neurospicy; I love him. Glad he can really be himself in the band now. RHCP is such an interesting group of contrasting but complementary individuals.
@@Bumbaclartios It's an informal way of saying neurodivergent/neurodiverse, which can broadly apply to those whose manner of thinking and operating is considered significantly nonstandard compared to the average (neurotypical) population. John has said that when he was younger, he used to feel like he had to wear a "mask" all of the time, which is exhausting. It makes me happy that he appears to have felt much more comfortable expressing himself genuinely for a good portion of time now.
Oh, wow 😃 Even though I didn’t know about the b-side of In Utero John spoke about when he said *_“moist vagina and ehh what was that song called ehh..”_* @09:00 I some how knew inside me (and hoped) he’ll say “Sappy” and he did 🤗 It’s been my ultimate favorite “rare” Nirvana song since I was 15, I downloaded it from Napster on 3,75 kb/s speed and added it to my Mini Disc player back at 97/98... I knew he’d met and toured with Nirvana, but I didn’t know John to be such a fan, although *TeaJerker @ One hot minute* is about Kurt Cobain, John F wasn’t in the band at that period. *With out Nirvana, I would have never been motivated to pick up my sisters guitar and start learning by listening to their albums.* 🙏🏼💜
Love hearing John fight for a chance to talk about R.E.M., because he just said what I've felt about them for 30 years, but never knew how to put into words. Wish he'd gotten to say which albums he was listening to.
Well he covered “country feedback” around 2000/01 so I reckon “out of time”. There is also a clip of him playing a track from “automatic for the people” on TH-cam in 1997 too. I bet you those 2 were his favourites!
When he spoke of the dark times he was going through and how R.E.M helped him get through that is how I feel about him and his band. Don't forget me of off By the way got me through a lot and still does to this day. Thank u RHCP for always being my friends
At the time of this recording, John had already cemented himself as the guitarist of RHCP. As far as the rest of the world was concerned, there was no one else. Even their discography at this point showed that. Yet, he still talks about himself as though he’s almost a stand in for Hillel. What a humble dude. Many musicians talk about how “they’re in it for the music”. Few are as sincere as John. The dude couldn’t care any less about becoming famous. He just wants to make good music.
John makes everyone around him a better person, you can just tell. He'd be the best friend, cousin, brother, uncle, neighbor, etc. too. I wish we all had a John in our life.

Thank You John Frusciante for Existing & Creating
I would love to meet John! Been in love with his style and him, himself since I was about 13🤘🏽❤️
What he says here about REM, I hope John got to meet them. I did at their concert at a college years ago, right before they became wildly popular. They are very nice guys. John would have loved them.
Wonderfulnessicity.
I love this awesome dude for his musicianship and now I love him for being John.
Loved hearing him talk about NIRVANA.
This man is the reason I’m learning guitar
Me too!!!!
Now he’s back!!!! What a blessing!!!!
"Why do you think the Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of the greatest bands?"
-cuz I'm the guitarist-
He's so neurospicy; I love him. Glad he can really be himself in the band now. RHCP is such an interesting group of contrasting but complementary individuals.
What does neurospicy mean I love that
@@Bumbaclartios It's an informal way of saying neurodivergent/neurodiverse, which can broadly apply to those whose manner of thinking and operating is considered significantly nonstandard compared to the average (neurotypical) population.
John has said that when he was younger, he used to feel like he had to wear a "mask" all of the time, which is exhausting. It makes me happy that he appears to have felt much more comfortable expressing himself genuinely for a good portion of time now.
Dont forget me live with John is amazing. Huge solo!
Yes! Slane castle was great!
Oh, wow 😃 Even though I didn’t know about the b-side of In Utero John spoke about when he said *_“moist vagina and ehh what was that song called ehh..”_* @09:00 I some how knew inside me (and hoped) he’ll say “Sappy” and he did 🤗
It’s been my ultimate favorite “rare” Nirvana song since I was 15, I downloaded it from Napster on 3,75 kb/s speed and added it to my Mini Disc player back at 97/98...
Same here. I also downloaded Sappy way back then from Napster but I didn't pick up my sisters guitar when I first heard Nirvana, it was my brothers :)
That part where he said “it made me feel like I had a friend” was so saaaad
Wow! PK and Mark B on the intv with John. MTV2 - 22 Greatest Bands Interview. I haven't watched this in a long time. Thanks PK!
@@WJL91 "Everybody Hurts" territory. Makes sense.
When he spoke of the dark times he was going through and how R.E.M helped him get through that is how I feel about him and his band. Don't forget me of off By the way got me through a lot and still does to this day. Thank u RHCP for always being my friends
Sweeet interview! For me, John equals a true freak. A freak in a beatiful and inspiring way. More minds like this would make the world a better place.
Could honestly listen to Frusciante talk about rock bands like this for hours.
5:06 the song he's talking about is "the music from the film soundtrack carnage visors"
This is a GREAT. Interview. He literally reviewed an entire generation of music in 15-minutes.
John makes everyone around him a better person, you can just tell. He'd be the best friend, cousin, brother, uncle, neighbor, etc. too. I wish we all had a John in our life.
