I come back to this every now and then, Currently i have my iLoud MTM MKII's and as im an awkward bugger that listens to game soundtracks on studio monitors you can really appreciate the depth of the soundtrack overall moreso than a lot of PS1 games, there is a lot of swapping from L+R speakers that will not be noticed typically especially when you have full depth on per audio channel, much more production was put into this than you would typically think.
My god the nostalgia. I remember playing this, my god it must have been 15 years ago when I was a kid. It was the first time I was exposed to alternative metal and the likes. Thanks for the memories Gemini
YES! Could not have worded it better myself! This game came out a couple of months after I discovered Slipknot (was about 13 at the time) and this game made me think "Fuck Limp Bizkit and Korn, I'll discover the more alternative side of Metal!"
I love this game. The joke is about that i'm only 12 and i have my PS1, i sometimes load up cd player in ps1 and listen to the track 3 (4 in ps1 cd player). This game is a TRUE timekiller still to our days!

Need to look on Steam if there's some Destruction Derby on there... Or Carmageddon come to think of it! Yes, I'm new to Steam, only have Spyro Reignited and Tekken 7 on there atm.
when i played this game the first time i played 100% through smash4cash with the first Richochet car. monster wheels was fun but so topheavy, and bullhead was kinda slow. me and my friends got alot of gameplay out of this.
Since the tracks don't have names, I'm gonna make them up Track 2 might be offensive to INDYCAR fans 1: Scream for a scrapping 2: Scalped (by the debris fence) 3: Brawling for bragging rights 4: High off violence 5: Industrial shithole 6: Piledriven 7: "I watch Motorsports for the crashes" 8: End over end 9: Treecapitation 10: Call the cops (so we can ram them)
GF ThePlayer DD2 only had 2 artists in its soundtrack, Jug and Tuscan so there wasn't much variation in the music. RAW, i dont know what bands were used but the songs sound pretty different and varied in terms of genre. I prefer DD2 purely from a metalhead point of view, the songs were fast and aggressive and suited the game. RAW has great music but i'll always love DD2 the most. Different opinions are welcome here :).
I owned both Destruction Derby 2 and RAW, but the DD2 definitely had better soundtracks and atmosphere. RAW had a lot of improvement like damage points, but I just prefer the DD2 'nascar' style cars and atmosphere. And ofcourse, the soundtracks, the DD2 soundtracks are friggin amazing.
I love both games, both were good in their own ways. RAW surely lacked a bit when it came to the derby bowls and it didn't run on LSD, but I like its realism and much improved points system.
The overwhelm and destroy sample is from some old b-movie called 'Mondo Keyhole' (1966). The same clip has been used in 'Brain Freeze' by Frank Klepacki for the Red Alert 2 - Yuri's Revenge Soundtrack.

i agree, very little comes close to the fun i had with DD2, but i certainly enjoyed this game back in the day.
