- Come along with us as we show you our NEW HOME! We sold our 4 bed, 2 bath split level home (check the link below for a home tour of that house!) back in November, and purchased this 3 bed, 2 bath mobile home in a neighboring town. It’s far from perfect, but I wanted to go ahead and share a quick home tour of all the future room makeover “befores”! What is the Life of this home
Not sure what you are asking! It was originally built in the early 90s.
I grew up in a mobile home about this size. My mama had it decorated tastefully and comfortably on a budget. She has since remodeled it with “house type” elements...custom cabinetry, drywall, mouldings, wood floors, siding and windows, etc. because it was a quality built mobile home and it’s located on a family farm so moving to a “better” house wasn’t what she wanted. But even before the remodel, I can say that I had the BEST childhood there and so many happy memories of HOME. Although it looks d”finer” now, I’m so glad she kept it and I can go back there any time I want. Please don’t feel humbled, you have a beautifully-sized and well laid out bright, cheerful home and you DO have a lot of potential. The take-away here is that a home can be anywhere, fine or humble, and I can almost promise you your daughter thinks it’s a castle. I did. Just make those memories and I wish you as much happiness, security, and comfort as we had in our humble home.

I am also excited to share this journey with my daughter as she grows up, just like you did with your mom! I am enjoying creating memories with her as she helps me paint and "decorate" things!

Rosie Helminiak and Lindsey, I’d like to add an afterthought: my mama is 86 now and showing signs of dementia. I’ve taken over most of the care and maintenance of my childhood home and I get to “revisit” a lot of those happy memories as I go thru drawers and closets, etc. and as I clean the same house in which I learned about cleaning. During this process, which is joyful despite the REASON why she needs my help, I’ve discovered something...the reason our humble home has memories for me of happiness and security was because of HER. Mama was “home”. That’s why I can say home isn’t a house, it’s a feeling. My first comment was meant to be encouraging and so is this one. It has a sad undertone, I know, but for your family, I’d be willing to bet that home is where YOU are. I can tell by the few videos from you ive watched so far that you’re a real HOME MAKER.
Oh JuliaAnna, my heart aches for how painful it must be for you to watch your mom go through that. You are so right though; it's the people that make a home a home at the end of the day! Sending prayers your way for strength and patience as you continue to love your mama through this, the same way she loved and cared for you when you were little!

We moved to a double wide when we retired 20 years ago instead of renting an apt. Glad we did. We had lived in houses before. I feel like people judge you but that's what we could afford.. you will do good decorating your place
Norma Otts So much cheaper than renting an apartment, plus I get a little bit of yard space! People definitely judge you, but they don't have to live in one if they don't want to! I am excited to decorate the place; I posted my first room makeover --- my laundry room!

Norma Otts I will never understand why people judge. I think mobile homes are so pretty and way better then renting an apartment. I live in NYC and my apartment is a box I pay 2100 and nothing is even included I don’t even have a yard. I’m definitely going to look into Mobile homes.
No doubt people do judge, I have had some literally scrunch up their nose and say "you bought a trailer?" Lol. But as you say it is what we could afford. Happy home.

Me too! I just found your channel. I live in an older mobile home. It's a
dinosoar compared to yours. I have many projects that need my attention...sometimes overwhelmingly so! However, it has drywall and many updates, and a big screened in porch and I love it. Home is where your heart 💓 is! I love that I can live here much more affordably than other places . I too just found your channel and I hope to glean some ideas from you. Love your new space and enjoy! You and your daughter are beautiful by the way!

I’ve really been considering a mobile home on my own for some relief from the astronomical rent in my city and for some outdoors space for my dogs and this video is so encouraging! Makes me more confident seeing another woman making a home for herself like I aspire to!

Lindsey, my husband and I sold our big home in the city two years ago. We live in a small home in a cute county town. But the plan is to go totally tiny in an even smaller town when our daughter graduates from pharmacy school. She want be finish with school for another five years so for now we can enjoy our country home and our lovely neighbors. Downsizing is the best thing we have ever done. And the best financial decision we ever made. You will be so glad you made that decision especially when you are at retirement age. Keep thrifting all that saving is going to help you in a big way. Your home is so nice. What I see is a beautiful home. And home is all about your family not the building. You have a really awesome place to watch your sweet daughter grow. Aren’t little girls precious. I have two only mine are not little anymore. But still my babies. God bless, Leslye

I just got done watching my first video of yours (gift closet makeover). It was very well done and gave me great ideas. I also think it's great that you live simple by living in a mobile home. So many TH-cams live in huge houses and keep moving to even bigger ones. Your daughter is adorable, I miss my daughter being that little.

I only see potential, LOTS of potential! What I love about your new digs is that YOU are showing people that no matter where you live, you can make it beautiful and homey. Not everyone can afford a 100 or 200k home. Ours is a 1950's Cape Cod home. Since I'm a SAHM, we live on ONE income. So your channel is an opportunity to see how you decorate and give me inspiration for MY home. So I know your thought on a mobile home may have been a negative one, but your right, it's a HOME. I have to say, your place has a nice layout and compared to most older mobile homes, has a more updated plan and what older mobile homes have a fire place?! Not even my cape has one. We hope to one day add a wood stove here. So chin up butter cup! I LOVE IT! Your doing a great job and I have to say that through your adversity, you are showing your sweet little girl how strong her momma is and your SUCH an example for her. Happy New Year!

I think that built-in shelf in the bathroom is fabulous. It provides so much storage space. I would recommend a few large baskets for things you rather not look at and you are set.
It was great storage! I never got around to getting large baskets for the shelves, but that was my intention!

You can also use a spring rod and make "Japanese" type of curtains for the top shelves to hide items behind.
Using a minimalist print will give it a calm feeling.

I love your sweet spirit about the awesome possibilities for your home. There are not a lot of people who would have the guts or the vision that you have. beautiful place! I live in a single wide and I'm currently doing small updates to it on my channel and it's so much fun to work on your home and make it your own style. mobile homes can be just as nice as regular homes with a little work and decorations !

Left the large townhome w/attic & basement. Costly improvements, had to leave headboard,(memories😔).
But! You seem so fulfilled here, precious daughter happy, parents close. What a difference 2019 has made, huh! Much to look forward to in 2020!! All the best💕.

As mobile homes go yours is larger and better laid out than my own...enjoy it! I came from a 4 BR/21/2 bath colonial on a 1/3 acre lot and I don't miss it at all, especially the monster mortgage payments!
Yeah - those mortgage payments were huge! I did like the layout of this home - the master was on one side and the other bedrooms were on the other side!

Love your new home! Perhaps you can think of doing the bath for your daughter in a soft yellow. It would be light and bright and perhaps use honey bees with touches of black for decor. Just a thought.

It IS a great space! I am enjoying putting my touch on all of the rooms! I am currently working on my master bedroom, so that video should be coming... in a month or so. 😅 (Trying not to pressure myself with churning out videos this year!)

Maybe do extra bathroom in the white and incorporate some pink salmon or yellow colored stripes. Girly but still somewhat neutral for guests.

Just joining your channel so I get to binge watch and catch up. Love your new home, I am in a mobile home as well. Ours is a single with an addition total sq. ft. is just over 1000, so not very large. Your home is so open and spacious...love it. Though it is a bit late in the game, congratulations!

It looks much better if you actually paint the molding going down the walls, the same color as the wall... makes it look more put together and smooth... the white molding just stands out way too much on the walls... just a tip because we did that to our mobile home when we used to live in it... love your home and congrats. ❤️❤️❤️ subscribed to your channel and can’t wait to see more.

The kitchen is the largest I have ever had! I am so glad you enjoyed the home tour!
Your new place is darling! Regarding the toys, you might want to think about moving the storage shelf with the bins into her room or her closet. And then just bring out toys that can be stowed away in a wicker hamper type thing in the main living space. That way, she has all she wants, but you don't have to see everything all the time. And as her tastes change, you can rotate toys in favor of whats being played with.

The less toys in her room, the higher the likelihood that she will go straight to bed at nap and bedtime! Maybe when she is older, I will move the toys into her room. Glad i found your channel! We got a mobile home about 4.5 months ago, and are very slowly changing the place. Its our very first place of our own so its even more exciting. We have to make few but big updates of our home. We also are experiencing leaks too.

If you don’t mind a idea ? I would paint the white strip molding the same color as wall color . The molding is cutting the room up . I like your daughter room painted all one color very cute .👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I welcome all comments and suggestions! I do plan on painting the white strips so they blend into the wall. Right now, I only have one room painted (stay tuned for that video!) I agree --- the molding is cutting the room up A LOT. I do plan on removing the strips in the main living spaces and taping them off too!

My Family I actually have!!! Great minds! I thought it might be weird to have no light fixture over the dining table though, so that's why I kept the table in the designated dining room! Maybe one day I'll have a budget for a new light fixture and an electrician to install it so I can swap rooms!
Hi, very nice. On paint colors there are so many choices. I think when you do your painting, if you paint the wood strips (that are white now) the same as the wall color, they will blend in better, and look more cohesive. Also in your little girls bathroom a shower curtain is a must!!! So many pretty choices. I prefer them to shower doors, which even those can be covered with a pretty curtain. Love your home, very spacious and 2 fireplaces. I think I'd give the wood one a white shabby chic make over. I just hit the subscribe button, so I can watch your homes transformation.

Actually, in the living room, I am planning on getting rid of the strips completely. I have a shower curtain for the bathroom, but I have yet to install it. Definitely pros and cons to mobile homes. They’re cheap and can be really nice if u play ur cards right. However they depreciate dramatically and they are a lot of work. I’m okay with the one I have but I hate hate HATE our neighborhood.
The neighborhood is also really important! I love the neighborhood I live in - they are very strict, but that helps keep the park maintained and nice.

Take time and let the house speak to you I know that sounds a bit odd but after living in your home for awhile you will start understanding what you want to do with it. Another mobile homie! My husband and I have been married almost 40 years and have lived in manufactured homes most of that time. We really like them over stick built. You can do anything to them, just like a stick built, you just have to go about it differently on some things. There are several groups on FB concerning remodeling them. Have fun!!!
