- In today's video, Emma (our sixteen year old) makes over her room on a budget with an aesthetic minimal vibe! She removes wallpaper, refinishes furniture, and helps DIY a headboard out of vintage records. Rob rewires her bedroom and removes all of the old knob and tube and builds and installs new shelves and a radiator cover (from all salvaged materials!)

What a lovely room, a girls dream! I absolutely love that dressing table. I grew up in a room with the short slanted walls and always loved the cozy feeling. I like that she chose a deep, rich color and not a girly pastel. It's great she did the majaroity of the hard work herself, excellent teaching skills.

Looks beautiful. Love the wall color. The only thing I would’ve done different is painting grandmas dresser. I would’ve just cleaned, sanded and maybe stained it or just sealed it. The wood contrast to the colored wall would’ve looked really nice. But that’s just me. 😂 As long as Emma is happy that’s all that matters. Beautiful family. ❤
The room (and that corner!) is so small, I wanted it to blend into the wall. I didn’t want it to look too cluttered. It was really pretty with the original wood finish though!

This is just beautiful. Any girl would love this as her sanctuary. Mood boost for sure! Emma, Drew and you both did an amazing job. The vanity is so pretty painted. I'm in the middle of doing one myself. I'm going to do wallpaper or decoupage on the sides and insides of the drawers for some pop of colors.

It turned out so nice! I love the wall color…more green or teal? I can’t tell, but either way, just perfect. The white trim and pieces of furniture really brightens it up. The gold leaf decals….classy! Great job! ❤️
It’s dark green but with the reddish wood tones, it has a more blue undertone!
Great job. The room looks bigger in the after shots then it did when it was pink.
It’s a lot brighter now, even with the darker color!

Beautiful room! I would get a low bed frame though. Mattress on floor can lead to moisture issues and mold! Maybe periodically lift it up and air out if not. I’ve saw attic/loft rooms on Pinterest with mattress on wood pallets

I love everything, literally EVERYTHING... But I would build or buy a small platform to get some air under that mattress so it lasts longer and can breath :) Other than that hiccup, tremendous job. I love that I'm getting inspo from a teenager.

This is great! Curious, was it a personal choice that Emma wants her bed on the floor -- I've always heard that its important to have air flow under your bed -- but maybe its because the ceilings are a bit low. Either way, great job to all involved!

Why are your video's so short
Good question! My data shows that my average viewer watches a certain number of minutes, so it doesn’t make a lot of sense for me to go beyond that!
I was looking forward to this reveal and it did not disappoint. Plus, I love your parenting style when it comes to preparing the kids for independence and adulthood.
