This song is written for their friend and former band mate Syd Barret who’m became mentally ill and eventually was forced to leave the band. Syd passed away in 2006. I went to the Pulse concert in Rotterdam in 1994 and believe me, I cried my eyes out.
When I was in highschool, a friend of mine and I spent all 4 years going to tons of concerts. We went to clubs to watch local bands several times a month, and to the arena & stadiums to see bigger bands maybe 15 times over that span? Anyways.. the two most memorable concerts we attended were Pink Floyd in 94, and we actually ditched our senior prom to see Page & Plant a year later. My only regret was not keeping all my ticket stubs.
(S)hine On (Y)ou Crazy (D)iamond is fully a tribute Syd. His name is even in the title! The WYWH album had themes of him throughout and how much they missed their friend. But this song is about loss, on a universal level. Just missing someone.
I am 70 years old and with so much of Pink Floyd's music I struggle to keep dry eyes, they find your deepest emotions and tear you open. I am so pleased that you are enjoying the experience.
What brings tears to my eyes when I listen to Pink Floyd is that many of their songs reacquaint me with my youth and my mortality. I'm a veteran so it's not that I'm afraid of death and God knows I've been around it a lot. Rather they invoke feelings of nostalgia, regret, passion and many other emotions. I contemplate my past choices in life which have allowed me to live it to the fullest of my ability. There is always something that everybody thinks to themselves, I could/should have done this or that differently. Every Pink Floyd song has some ability to make you feel a vast array of emotions. But the real truth of it all is that their music is beautiful and I will miss it. Yet then, I just might bump into them in the afterlife.
Thank you for your service to our Country my friend, it is appreciated 🙏..I love Floyd, I am also a big Deadhead too, they kind of go hand in hand anyway..I always say that I hope Jerry's playing is the soundtrack to my afterlife..would've loved to see Jerry and Dave jam together, unfortunately it never happened tho..take care and stay safe..Peace ✌️
so... I lost a daughter a couple years ago. Today is her birthday, and I happened to come across your video. Every single day , I wish she was here, and every time I hear this song it reminds me of her and I cry too. Thank you for your raw honest response and reaction to the greatest songs ever written... peace to you.
There is absolutely no way I can express how sorry I am for your loss. I do however understand why "Wish you were here" would trigger your emotions. Perhaps the best way to cherish the memory is to embed it into a particular song. A song you can listen to and recall all the good things you shared, and those moments that really made a difference for you. This is the song I want to be played when I leave this world. Not because I want people to miss me, but because I'm certain that where ever I end up, is a wonderful place where I'd love for my friends and family to be. So, "WIsh you were here" is me telling them...Not the other way around. :D Again, SO sorry for your loss. I hope you can find your way despite it.
I’m very sorry for your loss, Chris. I have faith that she is still here with you in spirit. And that you will be reunited in time. This song brings back memories of many that I’ve lost too. Beautiful art.
Actually, DO NOT do 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' from this Pulse concert. This version misses out one complete guitar solo (out of 3!) and the song suffers for it BIG time in my opinion. The audio version has three distinct guitar solos and each should be experienced the way the band meant them to be. Try that version first before moving onto the Pulse version.
In addition, the 3rd solo is the better of all three and so the whole character of the music is poorer without it. Do the audio version first. then come back here at your leisure. @@kgunitkeese17
I'm 74 and have loved Pink Floyd for almost all of my life. Yes, I tear up often even if I have heard a song many, many times. They are so deep and full of emotion. I've suggested "Time" a few times now and advised the studio version, but if you want to experience the Pulse live version, you will not be disappointed. Listen to the lyrics and see if they change your outlook on life like it did me when I first heard it in my Twenties.
Yes Do the audio versions first as they have so much more sonic blessedness to them. Sure the live versions are great, but the audio versions are the way the band wanted the song to sound and have so much more sonic depth! @@janistan
Makes 5 of us!...63 tomorrow. We grew up at a great time. Viet Nam was over and the music was great! Pink Floyd continues to touch souls...great to see.
Yes, again... they are just stepping back behind their music... very humble... and it is not in the written music... you cannot write down humbleness... but it is part of the beauty conveyed. Thank you Stacey for sharing your emotions / reactions... I feel very much the same...
Congratulations on your Pink Floyd addiction Stacey! ;) You still have many trips to go. And you will love them all! Promise! Its great to see you explore their music. Love it! ❤
I lost the love of my life in 1995 . . . Every time I hear this song . . . I see her in front of me . . . It's a beautiful song, packed with emotions. Now I have a second chance in life with my new love . . . she is much younger than me . . . she is a beautiful lady . . . I am teaching her about (rock) music and she is so captivated . . . she is learning and loving every moment. She plays the classical guitar
For us old folks who are long time Pink Floyd fans, we’ve all said goodbye to a friend or two with that tune. That’s why we sang along. In tears. Remembering old times ❤
I lost a dear friend just weeks before the concert. Singing along with shivering lips while tears ran down my face was one of the most intense moments of my life.
I saw alot of concerts growing up on the jersey shore. A $10.00 train ride directly to Madison Square Garden in Manhattan. We had all the greatest biggest bands of that time. It was a great time to be a teenager. 😅🎉❤
Hi Stacey, my name is Gianni ,i'm from Italy. I saw this concert in 1994 at the Torino Stadium delle Alpi. Every time I watch a video from this concert, my eyes starts to be wet and a lot of memories running in my Heart and in my brain. You are living a wonderful experience and you are seeing the light !!! I Wish you all the best in your Life !!!
I saw this same show in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap frogged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION… I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times. I met David Gilmour in 1984 back stage at a concert in Hollywood Calif. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shock both hands at the same time, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well.
I've seen a few of his 84 shows on TH-cam. Despite the boom in success that Pink Floyd had after the In The Flesh tour, David Gilmour on his own was still relatively small and intimate. It was like seeing a Jerry Garcia Band show without The Grateful Dead. If I were him, I'd miss those kind of shows where I'd be able to just be myself with the fans.
When Pink Floyd played in a soocer stadium near my home town on their tour, next day the local newspaper wrote about complaints from neighbors who couldn't sleep because of the sound. I just smiled at my mother and told her, this is the last time they heard dinosaurs walk the Earth.
Pink Floyd's bassist Roger Waters left the band in 1985 before the Pulse tour. He was one of the main song writers of the band and wrote all these beautiful lyrics to these songs. I recommend to watch Pink Floyds reunion in Live 8. That's the last time the whole Pink Floyd has ever played. It's so emotional when Roger and David are singing together to Syd Barret who had to left the band because of mental problems. The lurics just fit so well to the concert. "We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl."
Dig this. I saw Pink Floyd live on April 12, 1975 at the Cow Palace in Brisbane, California about 15 miles south on highway 101 from San Francisco. Then I saw them 2 years later in 1977 for the Animals tour at the Oakland Coliseum Arena. The 75 concert was the most incredible concert ever. They played alone for 4 hours. They played the entire Dark Side of The Moon Album and the entire Echoes album and several songs from the Wish You Were Here new Album that had not been released yet. It was released in September 1975. I consider myself so lucky to have grown up in this era. I had just turned 18 in April 75 when I attended this show with about 10 of my closets friends. Will never forget that show.
There are so many great Pink Floyd songs and albums. The 60s and 70s were two of the greatest decades for artists and bands. The best of them just didn't stop.
This song was written for one of the founders of Pink Floyd, Sidney Barrett. Like Shine on you Crazy Diamond. He was the front man for Pink Floyd until drugs took him down. David didn't want to release this Trac, Roger Waters wrote it.Syd was diagnosed with what was in that time a specific diagnosis in the DMS IIi. However, one could only guess as Syd was fairly well protected. Either way it was the saddest song that Pink Floyd ever wrote. How devastating the issues that people go through. It devastated the band. Hmm, enough said.
Roger said publicly that, indeed Shine On was about Syd. But, for wish you were here, he never put a name to it. He said it's more about absence of a friend in general that the listener will make his own of it. It fits with the thematic of the album, which is absence.@@stephenreiner1523
Roger wrote the lyrics and David wrote the music. Where did you hear/read that David didn't want to release this track? I've never heard that before and find it odd that might be the case, considering how integral to the album this song is. Thematically, especially.
Pink Floyd put out a lot of good music through the decades. However the four albums they put out in the 70s - Dark Side of The Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall - is the pinnacle of their output. Another note, with the Pulse concerts, although great performances, one of the founding members, Roger Waters, had previously left the band and was not in the lineup.
That's a great observation, Steven. He's obviously saying "it's what ya sound like, not what ya look like. We all know the bands who he's talking about. All glam, no substance.
I was at this very concert and yes, I did cry my eyes out. Pretty embarrassing for a 35 year old guy, but I wasn't the only one. The whole gig was an emotional and spiritual experience. ✌️❤️🇬🇧
Your father is correct. You need to hear an entire Pink Floyd album non-stop ... wearing headphones ... in the dark ... and if Dad didn't tell you, being high improves the experience tremendously. That is how I learned how to listen to Pink Floyd when they first arrived and it remains my preferred way to listen to them.
This album is 50yrs old and still sounds as fresh and modern as ever. Truly a timeless piece of musical art. It has been my favorite song for over 40yrs and still haven't gotten tired of it. It's one of those songs they say if you were stuck on an island what song would you want. Well there it is. That good. And when everybody's singing along its like the biggest campfire song along ever. It does bring tears to my eyes just remembering being there.🙏
I saw Pink Floyd the first time in ‘84. The 15,000 seat arena was sold out, of course. The part that hit me the hardest… no one stood up, during songs like this. Overcome with emotion, and in awe of the talent witnessed.
Mi madre fué una Pink Floydiana...en su funeral (ella lo pidió en vida), pusimos Mother y Whish you were here 😢... ella ya tenía casi 97 años. Gracias por traer a tu canal a Pink Floyd!! ❤❤❤❤❤
I attended 2 Pink Floyd concerts (Cincinnati and Miami) as well as many other big name bands. The best 2 live concerts I have ever attended were Pink Floyd and Pink Floyd.
The album came out in 1975, it will be 50 years ago next year but I can still remember buying the album from my local record shop - vinyl of course ! - as a young man of 20 and loving it from the first hearing. "Wish you were here" and "Shine on you Crazy Diamond" were my mother's favourites as well and she listened to the tape of those two tracks I recorded for her until her 98th year, when she passed away two years ago. Love you, dearest Mum, I miss you and Dad terribly and really do wish you were here ! ❤❤❤
The wistful helplessness of the last chorus when he adds another 'How I wish' to "How I wish you were here." is just heart wrenching. The words speak for themselves, but the song is set as someone listening to the radio, scrolling through stations until they find a song they like, and then playing along with their own guitar and then singing along for someone they really care about who they miss.
This song live was one of the most overwhelming moments of my entire life. I lost a dear friend just weeks before the concert! The whole stadium around me was singing along and I tried to sing while crying in tears, wishing nothing more than she could be with me right in that moment.
Saw pulse tour in 94 in ohio buckeye stadium and Arrowhead stadium kansas city . The giant disco ball looked like the moon when it lit up . Pink floyd doesnt put on a concert! THEY GIVE YOU AN EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME ❤
Although the album version should the listened to, I think the Pulse version is much better for a reaction video especially for someone who enjoys watching Pink Floyd live.
Really disagree. Both versions are breath taking and the two female vocalists are superb. But the original studio version with the original singer is just perfection.
Stacey, you have a wonderful ability to empathically connect with the emotion of a song. Please allow me to share why this song makes me--- a 60 year old man who grew up in the "men don;t cry" era--- why I cry every time. On the Monday after Thanksgiving in 2005, I dropped by my best friend's house to see if he was ok. The Friday before, his wife left him, took their two kids, and moved in with a guy my friend had known since KINDERGARTEN. I walked in, and he had a .12 gauge under his chin. I spent the next hour and a half trying to talk him out of it. In the end, I failed. Every day of my life I hear his final words. I had told him, Tim, I thought you loved your kids more than this." He stopped crying, looked at me, and said "Rob, I thought I did too." Those were his last words. He was a fanatical Pink Floyd fan, and every time I hear this song, it makes me feel the pain of loss so deeply all over. So I admire your ability to let the deep emotion of the music flow through you. Thank you.
He crowd is cheering as much for the song as they are for Syd Barrett, their former founding member for whom this song iis about. He mentally never returned from a bad acid trip way back in their early years. Shine on You Crazy Diamond is another song written for/about Syd and his struggles as is parts of the Wall album. I hope your feeling better and your recovery is progressing as it should...❤❤❤❤❤
I was at the concert, I feel very blessed. Great reaction video. I was 33 at the time and cried through the whole show, I’m 63 now and it still feels amazing
Seeing Pink Floyd live is one of the highlights of my life. This band is a guiding light for me. They are so special 💚. Enjoy the songs that will come. You will be amazed every time.
Thank you so much for a beautiful reaction. I am so enjoying your Pink Floyd journey. You are at the very beginning of it... It makes me smile to think how powerful, emotional and wondrous your journey will be. It's a journey I embarked upon around 1970. In 54 years I must have heard every Pink Floyd album literally thousands of times, and I still play them and still enjoy them. Pink Floyd have been the soundtrack of my life. I was at the Pulse concert you have been watching. It was the most incredible, wonderful, emotional thing I had ever seen. I pretty much stopped going to concerts after that because I knew I would never see anything better in my life. One song that you should react to from Pulse is "The Great Gig in the Sky". If you've been emotional up to now listening to Pink Floyd, that song will really make you feel emotional like no other. It's one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded by anybody and the performances are absolutely incredible. I would absolutely adore seeing your reaction because I know it will hit you in the same way it never fails to hit me. The very best of luck with the channel and it is so wonderful seeing somebody receptive and eloquent like yourself starting your Pink Floyd journey. There are so many people who have done the same on TH-cam and so many of them have ended up in tears like you. Take care. Andy.
In college, we would sit around drinking and eventually the guitars would come out. My friend and I were the only ones who knew the words, so we would sing this every time. He died sophomore year. I sat in my dorm room and played this song over and over on my Walkman until the cassette tape snapped. That was 1989. I still think of him whenever I hear this.
In the mid 1980s, I was listening to heavy metal/thrash metal. Anthrax, Slayer, Morbid Angel....etc. I got ahold of The Wall, and was like "Oh! This is cool!" Pink Floyd talks to everyone.
This song resonates so profoundly, as we have all lost someone close to our hearts , and we just want those times back when they were with us , brilliant song
I am in my 50s. Have been listening to this song for my entire life. Somehow, over all those decades, I have never not found this song to be timely, relevant, and to speak to me about my life. A lost girl, a lost friend, a lost family member as you get older. It has brought me to tears so many times. Stacey may find that she did not bawl her eyes out this time, but we all experience moments of deep loss over the years and this song just keeps sneaking up on you at those times. Like a gift from the universe in your moment of need. I have both jammed and wept to this song. Its really one of the greatest songs ever written.
Many say that the song "Wish You Were Here" is about Syd Barrett, founding Floyd member, who had to leave the group after what has been called a drug induced psychological breakdown after an album and a half. David Gilmour was his replacement.
Stacey. I am 53 and I love seeing younger people discover this music and seeing your reactions to these songs. You are bringing it to more of your generation. Thank you.❤❤❤
We've all been rocking with them since the 60s - this is normal. Their concerts were like this. We grew up with them, and yes, we still feel it in our 70s, as we did in our teens and 20s. So glad you found them.
I assume you've got a list of more Pink Floyd to do but here's just a few more worth checking out: Sorrow, Mother, Coming Back To Life, Time, Shine On You Crazy Diamond (a long one), Breathe, Another Brick in the Wall, Louder Than Words, Echoes (it's like 20 minutes long but worth it), Dogs (another long one), The Great Gig In The Sky, Learning To Fly, Money, Hey You, Marooned (instrumental, quite 'spacy'), One Of These Days. The good thing is you've barely scratched the surface of great Floyd songs. You've enjoyed them so far, there's plenty more where that came from.
Gifted and talented artist Truly I am so proud of you And Pink Floyd touched many hearts specially my I lost my son 4 years ago and I played this song over and over for 1000+ I never get tired of hearing this song. Shalom
To me, the most important line of the lyrics is "Did you exchange a walk-on part in the war for a lead role in a cage?" That line always makes me think about my life. By the way, you kept saying "the album." The 4-5 songs you have heard have been from 4-5 albums. You dad is right; Pink Floyd created concept albums. But you're going to have to choose which album.
There are people that search for the perfection. Then you find people that have a gift that make it so easy and sometimes touch a chord that can change your life.
The great thing about going to concerts in this time period was that nobody was on their phones or were trying to video the performance. Everyone was in the moment (albeit, many were out of their minds on hallucinogens). I caught them 5 times on this tour, and the crowd was into every song, start to finish. 30 years (and over 100 concerts) later and this is still one of the best concerts I have attended.
Great reaction Stacey!! I've always loved this song, and it never fails to get me misty eyed, but since April 2018, it makes me cry. I was the one to introduce Pink Floyd to my mom, and she quickly came to love their music! She passed in April 2018, and I personally think it was more than coincidence when after her cremation, the family assembled in the chapel next connected to the crematorium, and what song comes on, while we're all hugging and already crying - Wish You Were Here! Talk about an emotional moment (more than it was already) - it was mom's message that she's okay! So now - I can't help but full on bawl hearing this song. It's a beautiful piece! Love you and RIP mom! I DO wish you were here!
Young lady, I do believe by your reaction and the authentic sound in your voice when you say, "I love Pink Floyd", you will love Pink Floyd for your entire life..
I went to many concerts in my lifetime. Pink floyd was unique in that everyone just stared at the band singing along and motionless. It was like watching the crowd become hypnotized.
I'm 60 and was lucky enough to see floyd live 3 times. Meddle, Darkside of the moon and Wish you were here, in my opinion are the greatest albums of all time.
This song remembers my deceased cat. In its first death birthday I did an homage to him with this song. Everytime when I listen this song I cry because of it. RIP, Odin, my gorgeous and lovely little one.
Young lady, I have come to really enjoy your reactions to one of my top 5 bands/artists of all time (and I'm 65, so that's saying something). You may not be (as you say) a musical expert... but your humanity, empathy, and emotional connection TO the music makes you a different kind of expert. I've been listening to Pink Floyd since my teens (in the 70s). I am a fan of yours as you take me back. This was wonderful. I'm on to "Great Gig in the Sky" next. I HOPE it's the studio album version with Clare Torry. I'm predicting that will also bring you to tears. Great reaction!!
Hi Stacey, first, I love your show! I am a huge Floyd fan since 1979. (I am 59 today) In the nineties I finally had the chance to see Pink Floyd live. I went to to this concert in 1994 in Rotterdam. And yes we went crazy and yes we cryed our eyes out. The concert was sensational and the best I ever saw, to today. And I saw quite a few....
You are 4/4 crying to PF... I'm right there with you! I was fortunate enough to see them on this tour. I left completely dehydrated from crying the entire show. You 'feel' PF's music, it's amazing!
This is not just music, this an immersion in a total mind and body experience. I have been suffering from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) for two years now with severe dizziness. Headphones and Pink Floyd is the one single medical cure that mellows my eyes and brain. I knew I loved them for the past 40 years; never knew how THEY would eventually affect my life!
Hi Stacey. Bill again. You found the one pink floyd song that brings me to tears from the very first note. This was the 1st song I learned to play on my dad's acoustic 6 string Takamine guitar when I inherited it. Rip dad. Ty Stacey. My favorite song of all time. Cheers
The crowd sang along because they understood the meaning of this song and who it was a tribute to. RIP Syd. You will always be loved, celebrated, and treasured.
They were amazing on that tour. I saw them at an outdoor venue and it was rainy all day until sunset when the show started. The rain stopped, the sky cleared, and the music started. Unforgettable.
When i saw Pulse concert in 1994 in Montreal, everyone had their ears wide open and their eyes unblinking so as not to lose a second of this masterpeace . When the concert was over, we all agreed one fact, we knew that we would never see anything like this again in our lives. And 30 years later, i can confirm that we were right!
I love your reactions, they are very heartfelt. This song was a favorite of one of my best friends for all purposes my brother. He passed suddenly a 2 years ago and one of the worst parts of losing him was that we get caught up in the day to day grind and you think there is going to be a next week or next month to get together then they are gone. There are constant reminders of him and this song brings me to tears whenever I hear it. Jules I miss you brother " Wish You Were Here"
To us ( AND YOU NOW STACEY ) Floydian's " Wish you was here " is the ultimate floyd song that we all know love cherish an sing / cry to .. Hence why everyone was singing word for word at the top of their voices ( And yes then bawling our eyes out crying cuz we jus sang it with David lol )
Those opening lines are so remarkable, so known, so connected to Pink, that hearing them is like a switch turning on in the brain. The pace of the opening, starting off with one guitar then the cords being handed off and further built on by the lead guitar and then the vocals being layered on, yet the song remains simple and clear and approachable. Really, quite a beautiful and powerful piece of music.
Between 1980 and 1994, I saw them 4 times; I remember every concert as if it were yesterday. I saw this one with 2 girls on Sat, July 9, 1994, at the RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C., and I can't say that it was their best concert, because I have loved every concert I have seen them in. This song always makes me think of my Brother and hits hard. Great Reaction, as always, Stacey.
When you hear about Syd Barret history and his relationship with this song, it will be a multiplier for the emotions and the tears. Congrats to be engaged in Pink Floyd mood.
I seen Pink Floyd on this same tour in June 1994 in Vancouver. Amazing show!! Wish You Were here is not only my favorite Pink Floyd song but It's my favorite song period. One of the 1st songs I learned to play on guitar.
The crowd say it all this track everyone can relate to beautiful song so well executed lump in my throat thinking of family and friend's that have passed and you now you will never see them again we all need to listen to thought provoking beautiful music from time to time keeps us grounded loved your reaction spot on again we are definitely soul mates when it comes to pink floyd
I was at this show. Even if you had never heard of Pink Floyd this was one of the very best shows ever to be seen and heard. Absolutely outstanding experience!
This is their most moving song….My absolute favorite Pink Floyd song. I sing along and tear up literally every time I listen to it. ( yes even right now)……It’s a TRUE masterpiece of music that has an ageless meaning. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for reacting to it…keep it alive ❤
I had the pleasure of seeing them during the Pulse tour as well as 2 other times. They had great respect for the audience and gave a huge show that carried us away on the music. Loved the lights, the sound system and the music.
I was at the P.U.L.S.E. concert in May 1994 Atlanta, GA. I remember being shocked when hearing that Pink Floyd had done a new album call Division Bell. Once I heard that message on the radio, my sole purpose in life was to obtain a concert ticket. I was in Army A.I.T. training at Fort Gordon, GA at the time and took a taxi to Augusta to get my ticket, which came with a "Party Bus" for those who needed a ride to Atlanta and back. Graduation day was posted on the next day following the concert. The party bus was a group of die hard Pink Floyd fans like me!!! So much fun before we even got to the concert but boy were we blown away!!! I made it back to the base at 2:00am, way past curfew, and made it to the 6:00am graduation ceremony with my Pink Floyd T-shirt on under my class A uniform 😅 ... a forever memory ... so great to be young and bulletproof back then 😉
How I wish, how I wish you were here We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year... Running over the same old ground What have we found? The same old fears... Wish you were here... Probably the most amazing lyrics ever... I always cry to this.. used to be my father's favourite..
Think I mentioned this on one of your other videos, but the Live at Pompeii Blu-Ray is absolutely captivating. Not just the music, but the whole story behind it.
Rogher Waters says that Wish you were here is only partially about Sid.
That is correct and David said the same thing. The whole album is kinda Syd reflective, but this was not specific for him like Shine On
I was this one - Earls Court in London. It was even better than this.
I am 40, and the same counts 100% for me ( and maybe thousands of others) No other music nor band can do this♥
I´m 62. It was just part of our youth. glad to be part of it.
RIP Syd❤, you don't listen to Pinkfloyd, you feel Pinkfloyd, the greatest band ever, absolutely amazing ❤
We guys, who went to the Pulse concert, cried our eyes out - be sure.
A lot of us were.....comfortably numb. 🙂
Absolutely!
No tears for me@@robertsimmons9423

alot of us were on acid...just sayin....@@chrisgruidel3740
so... I lost a daughter a couple years ago. Today is her birthday, and I happened to come across your video. Every single day , I wish she was here, and every time I hear this song it reminds me of her and I cry too. Thank you for your raw honest response and reaction to the greatest songs ever written... peace to you.
I am so sorry for your loss. I wish she was here for you too Chris.
☮️&💟
As a father of daughters, you broke me. I'm so sorry for what you have lost and pray that you can hold on to the good memories more than the loss.
I’m very sorry for your loss, Chris. I have faith that she is still here with you in spirit. And that you will be reunited in time. This song brings back memories of many that I’ve lost too. Beautiful art.
May you heal in time….😓
'Shine on you crazy diamond' is a must from this concert! ❤
Yes studio version I-V is a must, plus VI-XI can't be overlooked. I actually think it's as good or better. @@gbsailing9436
@@gbsailing9436I agree. Definitely not Pulse because the intro is cut short from the keyboards.
In addition, the 3rd solo is the better of all three and so the whole character of the music is poorer without it. Do the audio version first. then come back here at your leisure.

62 years old here, seen Floyd 3 times back in the day and I still cry watching videos of them 😎
I'm 74 and have loved Pink Floyd for almost all of my life.
Studioversion of "Time AND Great Gig in the Sky", please... they belong together!
Yes Do the audio versions first as they have so much more sonic blessedness to them. Sure the live versions are great, but the audio versions are the way the band wanted the song to sound and have so much more sonic depth!

My god!! I'm 62 and finally someone that sees this band for who they are! Your tears affirm me.
Amen Brother.....also 62.
62 here as well and their music still hits just as hard as the first time fifty years ago
Haha me too
Makes 5 of us!...63 tomorrow. We grew up at a great time. Viet Nam was over and the music was great! Pink Floyd continues to touch souls...great to see.
"Coming Back to Life" from the Pulse concert has the most beautiful solo you will ever hear.
Massively under played, super uplifting tune 👍👍👍
A simply beautiful song ❤
I agree
the whole Pulse Live is an experience. Amazing performance and recording.
Wonderful tribute to Syd Barret, not to be forgotten, Richard Wright who passed away in 2008 and who was such an integral part of Pink Floyd
Beautiful reaction. You are so going to love covering Dark Side of the Moon.
Wish you were here is one of the most beautiful songs ever made ❤
For all of us that were lucky enough to see this band I’m positive it will remain the best rock show we’ve ever seen 😃
100%
The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION…
I have seen Pink Floyd 4 times.
Yankees Stadium right🤔

I've seen a few of his 84 shows on TH-cam. Despite the boom in success that Pink Floyd had after the In The Flesh tour, David Gilmour on his own was still relatively small and intimate. It was like seeing a Jerry Garcia Band show without The Grateful Dead. If I were him, I'd miss those kind of shows where I'd be able to just be myself with the fans.
Nice 👍 I
When Pink Floyd played in a soocer stadium near my home town on their tour, next day the local newspaper wrote about complaints from neighbors who couldn't sleep because of the sound.
Roger actually left before the Momentary laps of Reason tour of 87-89. The Pulse tour wasn't until 1994-1995 to support the Division Bell album.
@@jessejames5825 I didn't mean that he left right before the Pulse. My point is that he wasn't in the Pulse tour.
David dressed like hes about to fix your plumbing then proceeds to pump out some of the most iconic guitar riffs ever
Still listenknh hihh yo floyd am 59 year young man, still floating on floyd
Your dad is so correct. Pink Floyd albums need to be listened from beginning to the end. Love Pink Floyd since 69.😎
I attended 2 Pink Floyd concerts (Cincinnati and Miami) as well as many other big name bands.
I cannot more highly recommend "Great Gig in the Sky"! Album version will move you but the one from the Pulse concert is also very awesome!
I had told him, Tim, I thought you loved your kids more than this."
He stopped crying, looked at me, and said "Rob, I thought I did too." Those were his last words.
Started listening to Pink Floyd in '72' 52 years ago, and have loved the whole journey..
I read your comment and thought there’s no way in hell 72 was 52 years ago. Then I did the math, god we’re old, lol
@@davidschmidbauer3930Yep, how and when did that happen to us. Now 'Dark Side' turns 50. Somehow something seems wrong with that-------
This song resonates so profoundly, as we have all lost someone close to our hearts , and we just want those times back when they were with us , brilliant song
I am 76 and Pink Floyd is my favorite!
The song is about and lyrics written by Roger.
Stacey. I am 53 and I love seeing younger people discover this music and seeing your reactions to these songs. You are bringing it to more of your generation. Thank you.❤❤❤
I think this was the first of the encore songs - that's why the crowd is going crazy.
We've all been rocking with them since the 60s - this is normal. Their concerts were like this. We grew up with them, and yes, we still feel it in our 70s, as we did in our teens and 20s. So glad you found them.
I assume you've got a list of more Pink Floyd to do but here's just a few more worth checking out:
Sorrow, Mother, Coming Back To Life, Time, Shine On You Crazy Diamond (a long one), Breathe, Another Brick in the Wall, Louder Than Words, Echoes (it's like 20 minutes long but worth it), Dogs (another long one), The Great Gig In The Sky, Learning To Fly, Money, Hey You, Marooned (instrumental, quite 'spacy'), One Of These Days.
The good thing is you've barely scratched the surface of great Floyd songs. You've enjoyed them so far, there's plenty more where that came from.
Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts I-V and VI-IX would be great!!
Gifted and talented artist
Truly I am so proud of you
And Pink Floyd touched many hearts specially my
I lost my son 4 years ago and I played this song over and over for 1000+ I never get tired of hearing this song.
Aprecio tu gran sensibilidad.
Siempre veo tus reacciones porque son genuinas y naturales.
Te deseo lo mejor.
I saw Pink Floyd 11 times on this tour and each time was mesmerizing and emotional! It was definitely one of those "you had to be there" tours.
Pink Floyd are in a league of their own. Every other band on the planet can only dream of joining them.
Everybody cried their eyes out at this concert.... and almost 30 years later, we still are.
I loved loved loved this! Thank you for reacting. I start crying before the song gets going. Hands to my face tears streaming and smiling.
My two greatest joys are Pink Floyd and seeing a young person discovering Pink Floyd. Thanks for letting us watch you on your journey.
I.m 67 and I couldn't have said that better!!!
They never talk, just perform, blowing you away!!!❤❤I so wish you young folks could enjoy the rock I enjoyed my whole young life in concerts.
They were amazing on that tour. I saw them at an outdoor venue and it was rainy all day until sunset when the show started. The rain stopped, the sky cleared, and the music started. Unforgettable.
By chance were you at the Cleveland, Ohio concert? The exact same weather happened when I was there 👍🤣

This girl is in love with David Gilmore. She cries every time she sees him. So sweet!
This is one of the only Pink Floyd songs I can play verbatim on guitar. I'm loving that you are loving Pink Floyd.
I was at this show. Even if you had never heard of Pink Floyd this was one of the very best shows ever to be seen and heard. Absolutely outstanding experience!
It was a lifetime concert, They were Magnificent, and we were astounded at the end, I don't think any of us could believe what we had watched.
This song is the one that is worth the price of admission alone.
Sorrow. Run like hell. All of the songs in the pulse concert are extraordinary performances. Great gig in the sky will make you cry again.
I love this song.... you can feel the tempo start to run away, but they still make that work like it was supposed to do that. Such a great show
Division Bell Tour at the Pontiac Silverdome, 1994, was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Absolutely amazing.
I made it back to the base at 2:00am, way past curfew, and made it to the 6:00am graduation ceremony with my Pink Floyd T-shirt on under my class A uniform 😅 ... a forever memory ... so great to be young and bulletproof back then 😉
How I wish, how I wish you were here
We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year...
Running over the same old ground
What have we found?
The same old fears...
Wish you were here...
Probably the most amazing lyrics ever... I always cry to this.. used to be my father's favourite..
Think I mentioned this on one of your other videos, but the Live at Pompeii Blu-Ray is absolutely captivating. Not just the music, but the whole story behind it.
I was privileged to have been at that gig and yes, we all cheered but we all had tears. I have been a Floydie since I was 8
