    Amazing job, dude. A lot of emotion and I feel you accurately expressed a lot of the nuances in the original.

    Improving is by fay my favorite way of playing. Playing songs is great too, but there's something more truthful about the musician's music when the music draws from emotion rather than memorization. I get more of those 'chills' when it's improv, especially when I'm the one playing ;)
    I read this somewhere, but it goes "You can't lie in music"
    ---By the way, excellent job man!

      +Him Bookoo 100%, there's something magic in improvisation that you just don't get in composed music. I love that feeling of discovery.

    I may never understand why this song is so captivating. I am not one who generally likes a "freeform" type of song but there are a few and this is one. You did a fantastic take on this masterpiece. I loved Michael Hampton's rendition but this is on par with his for among other reasons, the clarity of the picking. I will lean back and listen to this in those quieter moments. Thanks.

    The chord at 2:06 was perfection. I haven't even finished the video. I needed to say that!
    EDIT: Finshed the video, and now I feel like an idiot for mentioning that. It was nothing compared to the whole video especially after 5:35. Amazing cover man, one of the best out there...

    What a pleasure it was listening to your cover.Truly exquisite. The one thing I would have liked to see was your face included in the vid. I know...sounds really weird and downright creepy. I just like being able to see a musicians face as they play. I love the emotion that shows in their expressions. I hope you enjoyed performing this. It hurts...but in a good way. Don't know how else to explain it. I guess that's what you get from a classically trained musician! Thank you for amazingly executing one of my favorite songs. x

    • @parliamentofwolves9753
      @parliamentofwolves9753  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha I get it, you can see my face in all my other videos I'm not sure why I decided not to include it in this one. I definitely enjoyed performing this, I love long guitar solos, I'm glad to know you enjoyed it too. Which instrument do you play?
      Thanks for the kind words :)

    • @dodette
      @dodette 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      The kind words were well deserved. What are some of your fave solos? And how did you learn to play-are you self taught? I've been playing the clarinet for 15 years. 15 years of classical training and 6 years of jazz. I do love playing it, however, I've always had a soft spot for the electric guitar. Ever since hearing Carlos Santana perform when I was a kid. Do you happen to take any requests by chance? =)

    • @parliamentofwolves9753
      @parliamentofwolves9753  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Meyra Kurtar I dunno, that's a difficult question to answer, haha. I'm self taught.
      Awesome, I really like jazz, it kind of melts my brain trying to get my head around playing it though (at least the more complex stuff). Haha, I guess it depends on what the request is, I haven't learned a guitar solo in a pretty long while I generally just improvise.

    • @dodette
      @dodette 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Muffin Man good for you. I tried teaching myself guitar....it didn't end well needless to say. If you do well improvising then you'd do really well in Jazz. But I feel ya. "Melts my brain" is the perfect phrase for that! I find improvisation extremely difficult to do. All the theory they try to teach goes in one ear and out the other haha. Well some of my favorites are "while my guitar gently weeps" with Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney, "Moondance" by Van Morrison and "Take 5" by the Dave Brubeck Quartet. I would love to hear you play the first I mentioned. I know you lean towards improv, but I would like to hear you interpretation if you're ever interested. If you're not comfortable doing that I completely understand and don't take it personally. It's just been a joy conversing with you =) x

    Hi Francis it’s me again I was thinking the other day about Maggitt brain and the musicians who have covered it and what kinds of sounds they created and I remembered your version. Can you tell me more about how you get the sound you have going for the first four minutes? And then at the five minute and 40 second mark I think it comes back with a bang but it’s different. More echo for one thing. I would really love to know how to re-create the sounds you have if you can describe how you get them that would be very helpful to me. Sound deliveries huge impact on the listener and I really like what you’ve done here.

    Very nice cover man! But I'm wandering, did you know how the song was created? I'm a big fan of it so I understood that Georges Clinton, while he was under LSD, told Hazel to play like if someone told him that his mother's dead but he figure that it was false. Soooo did you thought about something special while playing? ;)
    By the way, I'm very impressed by your prestation. :D

    Great job! can you share how can i make same sound?

    • @parliamentofwolves9753
      @parliamentofwolves9753  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MsGn123 Thanks! For this video I'm using my Fender Lonestar stratocaster into a Vox AC15VR on the clean channel with a Boss DS1 pedal for distortion and a TC Electronic Flashback X4 for delay. I recorded my amp with an AudioTechnica MB2K dynamic microphone.
      I don't know what kind of gear you have but maybe buy a DS1 pedal if you're looking for a similar sound, they're pretty cheap, around £40. I would say gear isn't the most important thing, just keep practising and make the most of what you've got, you'll get there eventually. :)
      If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

    • @MsGn123
      @MsGn123 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Muffin Man oh thanks! ^_^ can you say settings for delay and ds?

    • @parliamentofwolves9753
      @parliamentofwolves9753  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure what the settings were, the Flashback X4 has tap tempo so I just used that rather than messing around with the delay time, throughout the video when you see me lean down i'm changing the delay level, and I think the feedback as well.
      For the ds-1 I probably had the distortion on full or close to it. I don't really mess around with the tone knob a lot, there's kind of a sweet spot where it sounds good otherwise it sounds too harsh or too warm I think it's just to the right of 12 o'clock. I think I applied some pretty drastic EQ to the track rolling off some of the highs and boosting the mid range, the ds-1 can be pretty harsh.
      Hope this helps :)

    • @parliamentofwolves9753
      @parliamentofwolves9753  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, this was 100% improvised (maybe I should have made that more clear, haha). I tried to mimic the feel of the original and I guess I nicked a few phrases but it's all improvised.
      I'd advise just practising improvising over the backing track, I've never really been one to learn other people's solos note for note. Maybe that's to my detriment though who knows?
      Good luck :)
