You gotta look at the ratio. He got 98K likes so that’s 1 dislike for every 98 people. 1% disapproval isn’t that bad! Why would anyone dislike this video? Because there’s always naysayers. Some people are too critical with bullshit like “That’s not EXACTLY like the way Jimi played it!” And then there are people who play electric guitar who’s not into these music, and then there are people who just push dislike just because they don’t want to conform with the popular opinion (ie no good reason) Anyways, I loved this video. Wonderfully played! I wish I had this guy’s talent.
I personally didn't dislike the video but I think they disliked it because he is play the chords out of sequence on his acoustic and in the wrong area, if you pay attention he starts with an A minor power chord, and then switches to the G, then back to the A minor, then to the what should be an F power chord but he plays it a fret up where a B power chord is. The sequence that it's played in goes G, A minor, G, F power chord, that's how I play it on my acoustic and it sounds in line with the track, so a possible explanation for the dislikes is that he put the track over the video and muted what he played.

Hendrix had to sing at the same time and he was never the type of guy who would play a song live like he did in the recording. Man, you're a really great player. I REALLY wish you would put out more of these videos! I know it takes time and effort to do it, but I hope you know that we appreciate and enjoy the heck out of your playing. Thanks again, pilky27!
Every time I hear jimi's watchtower I get emotional because, like all his music, you hear his soul speaking. Lost most of my hearing but, having come of age with jimi, I still cosmicly "hear" every nuance. Same with this posting... I have tears flowing. Awesome and absolutely mind-altering.
It’s so inspiring to see Jimi take a Dylan folky acoustic ballad and expend it’s musical potential to create a version which is completely original to the Dylan track. A lot of people forget it was actually a Dylan song first but it ultimately became Jimi’s song. Rest in peace to the quintessential guitar god
@@gaston9100 He’s tuned half a step down, which Jimi did in many of his songs. It’s arguably ‘harmonically richer’ but it also would’ve accompanied Jimi’s vocal range better.
this has to be if not the greatest song of all time ,the greatest guitar song ,so many riffs, styles, sublime chords and that is just the instrumental add the lyrics and you have the greatest song of all time.
Just watch the fingers. There is truly something inherently sacred in the way Hendrix used the pentatonics. Its just 'cosmically right'. Totally not being dramatic, playing this, feels very much like religion to me. Its just mathematically perfect.
I'm a guitar player lover,, not a player. Something about Hendrix and what you said. Now that I see so many people doing his covers on TH-cam, it always impresses me that it's not so much that Hendrix was difficult to play as that his choice of notes was so brillant in a non complicated way. He's been my main man for over 50 years. TH-cam has only endeared him to me more that now I can listen to him and see him play things I only imagined seeing and hearing way back in the day. And don't even talk about how interesting his life was. He packed so much into such a short time. Finally, let me say that I think Jimi had an amazing ear for music.
This is the best part of Hendrix - the composition, the choice of notes and the phrasing thereof - cosmically right, mathematic, the Platonic form, timeless. never tire of it, always scratches the itch, over and over, it soothes my soul. Hendrix WAS the electric guitar. Almost everyone else sounds like they are just fitting together stereotypical riffs like Legos.
As others have said, the original construction of this masterpiece is laid bare before your eyes, love or hate Hendricks - few are fortunate enough to have his creativity or ability even today, but Pilky27 (whoever you are) congratulations on bringing up close the "nuts and bolts" of such an iconic guitar players work of art!
This great performance does help illustrate the fantastic construction of the guitar in this song. An under-appreciated aspect of Jim's playing, due to Jim's mind blowing technique and sound, was how well put together and complex his music was. Who the heck is pilky27?
WOW!!! I've been playing Hendrix since I was a kid in bands in the 60's and this is the best breakdown of his music I've ever seen or heard!!! Great job, my brother!!!
absolutlely the best''. the only thing missing is the man himself'' love it dude, the best rendition i have ever heard'', and i ben a live for 47 years''.
First off, this is so good and such a treat to see & hear. Most people in 1968, young and old, were unaware of Jimi and his music but everyone in the counterculture was blown away by his talent. As with every musician, Jimi had been influenced by other guitarists but his talent enabled him, not only to technically go beyond those who came before him but to infuse his consciousness raising experiences into his music.

Jimi was a visionary and a unique musician way ahead of his time who probably did not know or realize how he'd influence future guitar players of today.
Hendrix himself couldn't have done better live...not only he gets it note for note but tone for tone. Perfect. the best Hendrix cover on the planet.
But...hendrix also say as he played and moved around -- like in a performance. This film is edited. Get a grip.
@WV591 Play like Hendrix isn't playing every note perfectly, he feels the music, you need to know that if you like hendrix
@@maryamkim1281 let's see you do it..stut thte F...up
Hendrix had to sing at the same time and he was never the type of guy who would play a song live like he did in the recording. Fun fact though during the recording of the song he did it all in one take. I listened to kathy etchingham talk about it. th-cam.com/video/VIzA1xVQDB4/w-d-xo.html Skip to 19:50
I believe your right ... best cover of Hendrix's version I've seen so far.
Hendrix's guitar work on this song always touched my soul. All I can say us just "Wow!"
Just wow. Please do Voodoo Child (With an old Vox/vintage wah, not a Crybaby if possible)!
tremaine2006 YAS
tremaine crybaby now sounds like metal :/
I'm over 4 years late but he did it baby! Exactly the way you said
I picked up the guitar 20 years ago and this was the song, I heard it on my brother's record, been hooked every since, excellent job
Every once in a while I just gotta stop back here to listen to this again. ....It is so beautiful.............Quack, quack!
I come back 2 years later, and am still LOVING this young man playing one of the greatest songs ever recorded.
You know what we need, we need a Spotify playlist full of pilky's cover then we shall be happy forever
Cool and beautiful, this Number. Very good cover! When Jimi Hendrix did this back in '68 it just Blew your Mind! Nobody played like that back then.
So Jimi was singing as he’s making all those shapes and scales? I give up!
just dont sing.....
He recorded the guitar and vocals separately if I'm not mistaken
@@quickman1047 and he played bass himself. Noel was in the pub opposite.
He had some difficulties on live shows but it sounded good anyway
@@marinljulj4341 i heard one of the live ones and it sounded kind of random and a bit messy.
2:43. Chucka chucka chucka, chucka. Love it.
Man, you're a really great player. I REALLY wish you would put out more of these videos! I know it takes time and effort to do it, but I hope you know that we appreciate and enjoy the heck out of your playing. Thanks again, pilky27!
It's almost like Jimi was brought back to life in 2022 great job.
2:18 That moment is gorgeous
jimi would be proud. damn good job
This is shocking!! Watched this 100 times and still blows my mind every time. Just amazing!!!
Absolutely nailed it my friend! Jimi's looking down smiling at you ;)
I’m 15 and I love Jimi Hendrix and you sir did that perfectly
It’s so inspiring to see Jimi take a Dylan folky acoustic ballad and expend it’s musical potential to create a version which is completely original to the Dylan track. A lot of people forget it was actually a Dylan song first but it ultimately became Jimi’s song. Rest in peace to the quintessential guitar god
1:06 that lick is fantastic
That is awesome! , but its not in standard tuning right?
@@gaston9100 He’s tuned half a step down, which Jimi did in many of his songs. It’s arguably ‘harmonically richer’ but it also would’ve accompanied Jimi’s vocal range better.
I gasped
this has to be if not the greatest song of all time ,the greatest guitar song ,so many riffs, styles, sublime chords and that is just the instrumental add the lyrics and you have the greatest song of all time.
He's got the Hendrix sound, better than anything I've heard thus far!!
Play on playa.
Every now and then I watch this video again, it's just wonderful, it makes me emotional
Every time I hear this song on the radio I have to come back to you tube to see pilky..never get tired of see him perform..very talented guy
Far out man, really groovy. Stoked.
Nobody could have even remotely said it better.
Mathematically perfect.
@wozzlepop, I could definitely not say it better than you did.. I do 100% agree with your comment here
Okay but can we all take a moment to appreciate the fact that someone sat down and came up with this?
I'm crying he's back
This song is Jimis masterpiece. Such a beautiful arrangement from a man who couldn’t even read music, but played from his soul.
wonderfully done, thank you!
Maxim Volodkin love ur videos
Stunning guitare playing and the color of that strat is amazing
You know somewhere Jimi is smiling!! Absolutely wonderful playing! Thank you!!
This guy is a supreme talent.
I always watch this because it's the best guitar cover on TH-cam.
On the watch out for Jimi .... you did a great job here ,🎸
U sir are a rock n roll God! Please keep it up!
haha no lie
Don't forget Bob Dylan 😂
As others have said, the original construction of this masterpiece is laid bare before your eyes, love or hate Hendricks - few are fortunate enough to have his creativity or ability even today, but Pilky27 (whoever you are) congratulations on bringing up close the "nuts and bolts" of such an iconic guitar players work of art!
This great performance does help illustrate the fantastic construction of the guitar in this song. An under-appreciated aspect of Jim's playing, due to Jim's mind blowing technique and sound, was how well put together and complex his music was. Who the heck is pilky27?
Ahem....*Hendrix
Excuse me?
@@drix576 Hey man, I've always wanted to say.....your hair is amazing

WOW!!! I've been playing Hendrix since I was a kid in bands in the 60's and this is the best breakdown of his music I've ever seen or heard!!! Great job, my brother!!!
absolutlely the best''. the only thing missing is the man himself'' love it dude, the best rendition i have ever heard'', and i ben a live for 47 years''.
manomyth11 ...srv does a great one
I can listen to this music all day, Rest In Peace Jimi Hendrix
Goose bumps! Flawless performance of one of the best covers ever.
Covers like these motivate me to keep on learning guitar, no matter how discouraged I may get.
Absolutely excellent. A joy to watch over and over...
Supremely done, impeccable timing, flawless delivery...
This is literally the closest thing to perfection.
Pilky, unsung overlord of ultimate guitar mastery. Your skills sir, are out of this world
I didn't believe it when I got the notification!
I am in love with your hands. What a masterpiece.
Everything about this cover is mind blowing
