Thanks for the video, Bobby! I have a S7 45mm SS in graphite w/ matching Milanese band, and I love it. However, I did buy the Ultra and really like the features and chunkier look. After watching your video, I plan on picking up the SS link band. It looks smart for casual night out.

I have the 7 45 mm stainless in graphite, and i just got the ultra with the midnight ocean band! I also got the stainless 45 apple watch 8! For me the ultra us an everyday wear! The stainless watches are more sleek and classy, you can dress them up or down!

I did want something different, even larger and so far the Ultra is a great upgrade for me, not really into the fabric bands (the Alpine green loop is pretty comfortable though) I have the Stainless Link on mine as well, I personally think it looks great! Just happy my older bands going back to Series 0 will work with this. Apple could have easily ditched that option, made Ultra users get new bands/sizes..but thankfully they didn't Upgrading from my old silver Stainless Steel Series 4...which I will still keep (the battery life is not what it used to be sadly), it's a decent upgrade! OS9 runs on that fine, ...not sure if OS10 will make it to the S4 next year, we'll see. More features on Ultra, AOD is nice. But so far, the battery on this, wow. It's impressive!

Great comparison! I have the stainless series 7 w/Milanese band and it is the best looking smart watch by a mile. I am going to the ultra for more all around use and ruggedness vs getting a garmin w/my series 7.

I have had the Ultra for a week, love it. However, I went to the Apple Store and bought the stainless steel series 8. My reason: something a bit smaller and dressy. I will probably wear the Ultra 70% of the time and the stainless steel series 8 the rest of the time.

You nailed it. The Ultra gains a lot of its style points from having a fresh design and not many reviewers have recognized that. I really prefer the stainless Apple Watch for daily wear. If battery life isn't an issue, the Ultra is not too different functionally.
Great comparison, I’m planning to hold on to my graphite stainless steel Series 7 and Ultra for now. The value of Apple Watches drops very dramatically, $150 for trade in from Apple was insulting. For that amount it makes more sense to wear a few times a week while the Ultra is charging, and break it out for formal occasions. The stainless steel link does look great on the Ultra, but in some situations I could see the stainless being a better look.

Great comparison and exactly what I was searching for - Ultra with SS link bracelet. Looks really good. I have 6.5 inch wrist, will it look too big? Currently wearing S6 44mm and actually feels small on my wrist after seeing this video!

I would honestly only trust the stainless steel versions for the night out or dressing up in suit. The ultra is great, but for athletic fit or casual
I own an ultra and honestly I miss the curved screen of the regular watch. it looked so good having an edge to edge display but for the ultra day to day is just much better to me

I really want the Ultra but that orange button would drive me nuts so I’m gonna wait for next version. The Stainless Steel just looks so much better. The Series 7 Stainless Steel brand new is same price as Series 8 Aluminium so I’m just gonna get that.
I have both 6 gold stainless steel and 7 stainless steel and the Ultra and I love every one of them.
Love the look of the SS a lot more. But I just couldn't justify spending the same amount and getting way less features and battery life. Gonna hold onto my current S4 stainless steel to wear sometimes though because it just looks so classy

Thanks so much for the comparison pictures. From most angles, the Ultra looks only slightly bigger than the SS series 7 - which is 45mm?
As a traditional watch enthusiast, the Apple smart watches are 'tool' watches from my perspective rather than luxury watches as a piece of jewellery - i.e. the function is the most important aspect of them.
The last time I looked at them I nearly bought the exact SS/milanese loop combination you showed. BUT, as I already had an iPhone AND much better looking traditional mechanical watches compared to an Apple Watch in SS with the Milanese loop, I left the Apple store with my money in my pocket.
Which is not to say the Apple Watch in SS with Milanese loop doesn't looks nice - it absolutely does - but it's not in the same 'class' as a traditional watch if we're talking luxury looks and finish as a piece of timekeeping jewellery.
However the Ultra is a different ball game, as it's by far the best featured and specified watch that Apple have ever offered.
For everyday use, climbing mountains to the local supermarket, walking through the deserts of the local park, and swimming in the oceans of the local swimming pool, it's just perfect.
And for those more dressy or formal occasions, I have a few traditional watches that will play that role better than any smart watch, be it in stainless steel with a Milanese loop or steel braclet.
For me, the only concern about the Ultra was the size aspect of it as regards aesthetics, and your most helpful video shows clearly, that the size difference is not at all huge between a Series 7/8 45mm and the Ultra at 49mm.
I think my Apple Watch Eagle may have landed with the Ultra - at last!

Hey, I just purchased a 42mm silver link bracelet for the Apple Watch Ultra. Customer service reached out to tell me it’s not compatible with the Ultra because it needs to be the 45mm band to fit the 49mm case. So is this true? What band do you have?
Thats not true, the band im wearing in this video and as im typing this response is a 42mm band on my ultra. Im using the 42mm Apple Link Bracelet

Did you find the ultra screen looked less glossy? I had them side by side in the store and I found the the SS looked so much more jewel like.
A little bit yes. I think it’s because the ultra is flat and the ss model has a curved screen

Which is more comfortable on the wrist? Does weight have an impact?
Honestly I dont have a preference as to which is more comfortable. I guess since the stainless steel watch is smaller and rounded some people would see that as more comfortable but i didnt notice a difference in feel or weight.

There is a company in AZ where you can send in your Ultra and they will brush the titanium where its shinny like the SS watches… they even remove the orange from the action button as well… they do all this without having to take it apart and potentially mess up water sealing inside

Love my ultra 2. Feels way better than my stainless steel series 7 to wear and look at. And fits better on my wrist
The Ultra is the chunky design I've wanted from Apple but stainless steel is my preference. I won't buy the series 7 or 8 though as it's a little too feminine on my larger wrist. Will have to see what next year brings.

Definitely have to agree. I returned my ultra the same day. This isn’t an office watch if your office is corporate. The stainless steel is actually very stunning for a smart watch. It actually looks like jewelry. I have a starlight aluminum and man does that thing look cheap vs the SS. Also the ultra screen doesn’t look as glossy as the SS. The Ss is more versatile. Don’t get me wrong if I wanted a watch for everything but the office was taking the ultra every day.

I exchanged my ultra for the gold SS 😂. It was to bulky. I liked the bigger battery but I charge mine every morning when getting ready for work. So I don’t notice the smaller battery
I totally agree with you that if you judge on LOOKS alone the stainless steel is more attractive. If Apple could make a version of the Ultra without the crown guard and brushed the Titanium, it would look much nicer.

Also keep in mind the stainless steel version also comes with the same sapphire crystal glass as the watch ultra. The aluminum Apple Watches come with IonX glass.

@@mistersir3185 sapphire crystal for sure. It’s harder and more durable both are good. I have a tempered glass protector on my sapphire glass and it doesn’t just pop off and you can’t even tell it’s there on my ss graphite series 7 45 mm. But I am also ocd and like it to look very pristine.

@Paul F I actually got the 2 pack of the white stone dome ones. They are cut just a little bit smaller so you can use cases without them lifting up the screen protector. I usually do this process at night. I do the UV light on it for a much longer time and then let it settle. Works perfectly. I'm used to applying these as all my previous galaxy phones with curved displays help me master it 😆. And the best part is it still feels like the glass and not thar thin rubber film.

People saying the nomad is a better band. Still that band is $300, I don’t think it looks nearly as good as apples band. Apples silver link bracelet looks like it’s worth every dollar. Whereas nomads looks like other bracelets I’ve seen before. Apple Watch Ultra 2 is the coolest smartwatch I’ve owned
There’s a company that offers an authentic Apple Watch ultra but the case is stainless steel like the 7 and also has a beautiful alligator strap to go with it. Do your googles.

The Ultra watch looks amazingly it does not matter what environment you are in. Besides, you don’t have to worry about damage to your screen & long battery life. I just brought the series 7 & return it for the Ultra immediately. 😃😃😃

I don’t like the way the ultra looks
Personally, the band on the SS 7 looks very 1980. I can think a better band to make it look classy. Why you would put a SS band on the ultra is beyond me. Why would you buy the Ultra which is meant as a fitness/adventure watch and put a SS band on it?? Are you still wearing Haggar bell bottom, polyester pants and wide lapel silk shirts too?
