Can you please review the GPS when running and if it accurately measures your speed in specific areas. For example people that are trying to measure how fast they ran in 100 m.
Battery is almost the entire reason I got the ultra. Now if I forget to charge it or set it on the charger off-center I won't be stuck the next day. Also it was basically the same price as my old titanium model so it was an easy choice.
I got the series 8 and the battery lasts the entire day, sleep with watch on my wrist and wake up to charge it for 30 mins to reach to a 100%. I use the watch 1 hour daily doing sports with all notifications on and I never use the power saver mode. I have friends who bought the Ultra and they say it performs just like that plus one more day, that’s it.
I would have also bought the Ultra if only the battery would comfortably get you up to 6 days on a single charge, but they say it does on power saver mode which is total bullshit. The battery will last 6 days given that it shuts down most of the health sensors and AOD, why would you bother wearing it in such a case anyway!
Went from a Series 4 to the Ultra. This is an upgrade. The look is more stylish and stands out from the regular AW. I always got the SS versions so durability is what I wanted. The screen looks and feels better as well with the flat design IMHO.
It's an SOS siren, not a theatre show, the tone, frequency and chirps can be carried for over 300 metres, not even highway noise can cancel it out. It's similar to AirTag it's not really loud in your palm but due to the tones and frequency, you can hear at longer ranges.
As a Garmin user, the Ultra feels so small on my wrist! So many TH-camrs are saying how big it is, but if you’re used to wearing the larger Garmin watches it is much more comfortable to wear. Won’t replace my Garmin for the longer trail races due to it not having navigation, but will definitely be my main day to day and race watch for everything else.
Idk which Garmin you’re using but the Ultra feels bigger than my Fenix 6 Sapphire does. The square design takes up far more real estate on my wrist. It’s honestly sorta uncomfortable.
really garmin watches are much better I switched from apple watch 7 to garmin enduro 2 and bought it on september 17 and the charge was 80 percent and today it's 24 hours and still 40 percent charge, even though I don't do sports and the gps is on. All the measurements are also on. I don't know about apple watch ultra but garmin is really good

That would be a super tough comparison, bc 45mm stainless steel series 8 is $750 and the ultra is $800, very few people would recommend the series 8 in such a case

Went into the store to buy the 8 - talked myself into the Ultra after playing with the display models. The extra durability was a big selling point for me.

I am a recreational diver but I did not buy the ultra for that purpose. I bought it bc of the battery life, the look, and the durability. I also wanted to upgrade from my series 5. I really wanted a watch that not everyone will have! I like the action button too and the cellular features!
I am in a similar situation! I also have the series 5 and was looking to upgrade to the 45mm stainless steel (gold) series 8 for $750, or just get the titanium Ultra. I'm def leaning towards Ultra bc of battery life, built-in cellular, less scratch-prone in comparison to stainless steel, and a better size for my wrist!
I have the series six aluminum body and have worn it nonstop since getting it and it doesn't have any scratches on the glass or body. What are you guys doing--working construction with your watches to get those scratches? LOL
Idk my looked like shit too. My sisters doesn't look that bad but she got a really THICK scratch over the whole display. For me probably was mainly from Gym, laying on the floor, brush against walls... My new titanium one that I have for 2 years now still looks like new.
Bought the new Apple Watch 8 at launch. Was thinking about buying one for a few years, what really hold me down was the battery life. I was positively surprised by it, I wear it from 7 in the morning till 9 in the evening, and last me for three days definitely not expected that.
@@adl-2 I got the WiFi and always on display turned off. The battery life is pretty good, I put the watch on at 7.00 in the morning and turn it off at 9.00 in the evening, it lasts me 3 days.
The pricing is just way off. Either the stainless steel and aluminium models have way higher margins and they were afraid of the ultra not selling as well because of the crazy styling. Or they were afraid of pushing the ultra over the 1000€ price tag this year. But i really expected it to be about 1000$ or 1300€ .
For most of the people battery is not a real issue since the serie 7, fast charging is game changer. You can plug it for a few minutes to charge It enough for a daily use.

Series 8 like 7 looks more classy and sleek especially in stainless steel. Try wearing the Ultra semi casual or formal wear… it all depends on what you use it for.
$800 is one of the best deals Apple has ever had considering the price difference between the Series 8 cellular. Back tracked our way through a 220 mile ATV trail on day 1 to test it out. Did a decent job, even when compared to our stand alone $800 Garmin Montana 750i.
I bought the series 8 aluminum non cellular I really wanted to get the ultra but it was a lot more out of my budget so I just got the series 8 and I think I regret it now do you think it was a good choice
Sapphire display that’s flat with the edges protected, amazing battery and titanium case. That’s why I got it. I can raw dog it at admire its beauty rather than using a bumper case like I do on my series 6. Can’t wait for my ultra to turn up on Monday! Don’t need to be Bear Grylls to justify it at all.
Really has to be indestructible. My black titanium s6 still looks close to new. And if the black alloy scratches it would be visible because the titanium underneath is silver. And the glass protrudes. But still is scratch free. So the Ultra truly has to be untouchable.

I'm getting older, as well as being disabled. One thing you didn't spend much time on, maybe you did on another 8 video, is the crash and fall sensor. It's on both, but I like the resilience & durability of the Ultra. The biggest reason I'm getting an Apple watch, is the crash and fall sensor, in case something happens to me, and I need help.
i know you compared it to your aluminium watch, but when mentioning the weight of ultra, showing the weight of steel watch should have also been the case... to show that despite bigger, it is not that much heavier that the steel watch... i wanted to update from my S4 to the S8 titanium, if there was such a version like with S7... sadly, no titanium there, so giving a shot with the ultra... also, when mentioning the price, just comparing how much was the S7 titanium... i think the 45mm verion was like 900USD? so from this comparison it doesn't seem that expensive, does it...
Yeah the Ultra price is really great compared to their other offerings. Really sad they discontinued the titanium ones. I have a titanium s6 and it's just awesome. Got jealous for a bit when they presented roaming and a temperature sensor (for swimming) but now that I see titanium is gone I'll be very happy to stick with my s6 lol.
I ordered the Series 8 Stainless Steel. The Ultra is just way too big and not suitable as an everyday watch imo (meaning it won't look good with different outfits/settings/events etc. like the regular Series 8 would).
Picked up the ultra upgrading from the 4. I never upgraded cuz the watch never looked any different. I love the size & design, weight is negligible. I kept the 4 in a case with a strap, making it look like a G-shock style thus the size feels the same but the ultra looks so clean.
I ordered the ultra since when i had the 4 never use it alot cause i work outdoors n it scratched up fast n lookd like ultra holds up better so idk but looks like you dont need a screen protector on it? But idk if you even need it looks like its tough to even statch it or crack it

I’m only considering upgrading from the 8 to the ultra because I just dropped my watch and broke the screen today. I love my silver stainless steel look but I also love the idea of a longer battery life.
Upgraded from series 8 45 mm to the Ultra. I have absolutely no complaints about the series 8. It’s jam up. I only upgraded to the ultra because my carrier gave me the option and battery life. So far. The ultra has been very good also.
I have small wrists and the Ultra FEELS much better than the series 7. It also LOOKS better than the standard series. The fit and finish is superior. And the larger, FLATTER screen makes a huge difference IMO. Also, the charger that comes with it is FAST. It’s about 1% per minute. I’d recommend the Ultra over the 8 any day.
I’ve had my series 6 for years now and the battery lasts 2 full days including sleeping. Idk if they changed it and made the battery life worse, but 36 hours being the highest seems low.
How do you guys look at a watch and compare to different watches, and not discuss actual dimensions. I mean really don’t get me wrong. I know you have to review the software, but to someone who likes the look of a watch we’d like to know the size of the case, the thickness of the case Radius of the bezel those things matter and you looked at them and then breezed right past them. No numbers were mentioned.
Wasn't really looking to buy one but tried it on today with the Alpine strap and I just love it, getting rid of my Series 7 ASAP, don't even want to wear it anymore. The Ultra looks so good and the Alpine strap is super comfortable.
Dang the scratch thing kind of killed it for me lol. I toss my watch into my purse all the time with my phone and the fact I’d have to worry about where I tossed my watch or what I rubbed it up against (Espec my 14pro)… can’t risk it lol

I've been looking for a really nice band since I got my Watch and boom.. A minute into this video I'm shown a carbon fiber band. Sold. I know it's a sin to talk bad about Apple, but I'm very unimpressed with the launch selection of bands. I settled for the ocean yellow when I went into Apple Store. For an $800 Watch I would've liked to have a better included band. The ocean band serves a purpose for some, but not everyone is going to be partaking in extreme sports regularly. The carbon fiber band this reviewer expertly sold me on is a nice option to dress-up the Watch. I'll feel better wearing it in a business setting as opposed to a yellow rubber watch band.
So here we go. I have swapped my Garmin Fenix 6 pro simply because it wouldn't charge anymore. I've had several Garmins all the damn same problem the charge port is so unrealisable and frustrating. So I went for the apple watch 8, because it's lighter - but it's half lighter than the garmin. I upgraded to the wristband to a £100 band for swimming as suggested.
If you’re able to, just buy the Ultra for everyday and if you really want that jet black look get the Hermès Series 8 for going out. I always go with the highest priced Apple products and recent generation, because you can then sell it next year for close enough money that you won’t have to pay as much out of pocket on the trade in…

I prefer the series 8. And the pitaka carbon fiber band looks cool. I own a case from pitaka and I love it.
I’m only considering upgrading from the 8 to the ultra because I just dropped my watch and broke the screen today. I love my silver stainless steel look but I also love the idea of a longer battery life.

Upgraded from series 8 45 mm to the Ultra. I have absolutely no complaints about the series 8. It’s jam up. I only upgraded to the ultra because my carrier gave me the option and battery life. So far. The ultra has been very good also.
I have small wrists and the Ultra FEELS much better than the series 7. It also LOOKS better than the standard series.
The fit and finish is superior. And the larger, FLATTER screen makes a huge difference IMO.
Also, the charger that comes with it is FAST. It’s about 1% per minute.
I’d recommend the Ultra over the 8 any day.

Does it have an always on second hand? Other Apple Watches do not have that feature.

the ultra being able to wear it for more than one day is crazy
I’ve had my series 6 for years now and the battery lasts 2 full days including sleeping. Idk if they changed it and made the battery life worse, but 36 hours being the highest seems low.
That scratch edge is a feature for survival. You can use it to clean the scales on your fresh caught fish.
How do you guys look at a watch and compare to different watches, and not discuss actual dimensions. I mean really don’t get me wrong. I know you have to review the software, but to someone who likes the look of a watch we’d like to know the size of the case, the thickness of the case Radius of the bezel those things matter and you looked at them and then breezed right past them. No numbers were mentioned.
Wasn't really looking to buy one but tried it on today with the Alpine strap and I just love it, getting rid of my Series 7 ASAP, don't even want to wear it anymore. The Ultra looks so good and the Alpine strap is super comfortable.
Do you know that Apple sells the Ultra straps which fit the 45mm series 7 ?

Dang the scratch thing kind of killed it for me lol. I toss my watch into my purse all the time with my phone and the fact I’d have to worry about where I tossed my watch or what I rubbed it up against (Espec my 14pro)… can’t risk it lol

I've been looking for a really nice band since I got my Watch and boom.. A minute into this video I'm shown a carbon fiber band. Sold.
I know it's a sin to talk bad about Apple, but I'm very unimpressed with the launch selection of bands. I settled for the ocean yellow when I went into Apple Store. For an $800 Watch I would've liked to have a better included band.
The ocean band serves a purpose for some, but not everyone is going to be partaking in extreme sports regularly. The carbon fiber band this reviewer expertly sold me on is a nice option to dress-up the Watch. I'll feel better wearing it in a business setting as opposed to a yellow rubber watch band.

I always put tempered glass screen protectors on my watches and phone.
I have a Series 5 and it still gets me from 6am - midnight with 20% left and that's with a 1-2 hour cardio workout being tracked.
Its a sports watch basically or like large watches.

So here we go. I have swapped my Garmin Fenix 6 pro simply because it wouldn't charge anymore. I've had several Garmins all the damn same problem the charge port is so unrealisable and frustrating. So I went for the apple watch 8, because it's lighter - but it's half lighter than the garmin. I upgraded to the wristband to a £100 band for swimming as suggested.

If you’re able to, just buy the Ultra for everyday and if you really want that jet black look get the Hermès Series 8 for going out.
I always go with the highest priced Apple products and recent generation, because you can then sell it next year for close enough money that you won’t have to pay as much out of pocket on the trade in…
I love it and once i have it on, i don’t notice the weight difference from my series 7.
