This is a new game from Mike Klubnika - the creator of Concrete Tremor, Unsorted VHS and Carbon Steel. For the video I've included both endings (Fail and Win). It's a very intense experience!
Absolutely love the tiny detail of how the gun shakes when in the player's arm, showing off that they're actually terrified of shooting themselves in the face.
I noticed that too, it's so small but makes such a difference! It made it seem like some poor person desperate enough to risk their life for the money rather than someone who is arrogant and doesn't think they can lose.
I love the differences in item animation between you and the dealer, like how desperately you use the handsaw and how you're forced into the handcuffs, meanwhile the dealer saws off the shotgun in one swoop and grabbing your handcuffs to put on themselves. Even the way the characters rack the shotgun has so much personality. It really gives the idea that the dealer does this for fun/blood and is in full control of the situation whilst you have much more to lose. Excellent game, would probably also be a fun multiplayer game!
The difference in how both the player and the dealer uses the magnifying glass 🔍 is the best one to me!!! It's so every how both break it but he looks through it while broken and says "very interesting" like he has some black magic that because it is broke it lets him see which type of shell is loaded. Meanwhile you break it and grab the shotgun for a peek lmao
Oh my god playing this against a friend!? That would be an awesome multiplayer game or even cooler if it could be worked out to have like a round table of 5

This honestly remind me more of the blackjack minigame dlc from resident evil 7. I really need more Tablegame-turned-deathgame type of game. Anybody got recomendation?
For the second round with 3 real shells and 2 blanks, it specifies that the shells are inserted in a hidden order, rather than an unknown order like the first round. This hints that the dealer can control the order of the shells for the round. If the shells were inserted randomly, anybody would logically fire the first shot upon the dealer, as the odds were a 60% chance of the dealer being hit with a real shell. The dealer places a blank first and a real shell second because of this, and it ends with the player not being able to skip the dealers turn and use the second shot on him as he didn't fire the shotgun at his own head.
That doesn't make sense though. If the dealer knew the order of the shells, why would it ever shoot itself with a real one like it does at around 14 minutes? It wouldn't need to use magnifying glasses either.
And yet the PC goes and pulls the asshole card by stealing his shotgun when taking the prize money. No wonder the dealer has a big shit-eating grin while shooting the player.
This game does the atmosphere it’s trying to go for almost perfectly. Most will try but end up being too boring or derivative, but this feels scary while also tapping into that competitive part of your brain. It mixes mechanics with ambience into a near perfect blend while also seeming fresh
It’s something that’s pretty consistent with mike works, you can see some of David szymanscki influences on his style but he still has his own unique feel to it, his atmosphere and aesthetics is more bleak and run down with lots of industrial flavors to it.

"Blanks" usually refer to rounds that still explode but just lack any projectiles, they are still dangerous at very close range. A game of Russian Roulette played only with blanks could still be deadly. The "blanks" in this game seem to be completely empty cartridges, though.
@@ryxamcross Those are usually called snap caps, they are a type dummy round, but are designed specifically for dry-firing. Very important for rim fire guns since dry firing them WILL damage the firing pin. I assume they're black not solid red in the game is because shotgun shells have red plastic.

I love games like this. Where there's a simple concept and the existential terror of both dying and being (arguably) just as dangerous as your opponent.
4:03 this gag is funny but also adds that little bit more depth to the game. Your character sees that God is not only dead, but died here, and without a second thought just goes "meh, this is useless" and stuffs it back in.
@@puiu102006 I think it's double sided, both absurdly funny and creepy depending on how you view it, just like this entire game IMO. You could imagine God becoming corrupt or weakened or somehow indebted to this dealer and thus having to play this game, or you could just imagine God getting piss drunk and doing this and fucking up. Personally I like to see humor in these games more, but if this game ever gets developed more I'm sure the theorists would have a field day with it.
@@jimhorton1271 I just dunno what board is for. Just make it a little card game with shots and blanks you shuffle up and a little plastic shotgun token for whoever's turn with the gun it is.
@@youtubeuniversity3638One deck of item cards, tokens for defibrillator charges, a plastic shotgun with a detachable barrel extension, and a deck of shell cards with "BANG" and "click" on them. The person who's about to get "shot" is the one who has to flip the card. ...I wonder if it could work with more than two players if a card game sort of frees the format up?
I think I figured it out, the live rounds are blanks with their primers inserted, and the heart attack is from the shock of it. Your character never knows which will actually be live, so he keeps getting the heart attack. Looks like a great game that uses simple odds which I like. Love the visuals and sounds. Hoping to buy it soon :D
That makes a lot more sense than what I was thinking. 😅 I was just like "how does he keep getting brought back from getting shot with a defibrillator? And what do blanks do?"
@@mastermarkus5307 given enough time, and a ton of random statements, you can make sense of anything :D Glad you liked it, as I figured that would be the most logical real-world equivalent imo; that blanks would still have a primer, which is why they are loud when fired, yet don't kill someone. I figured "getting shot" doesn't kill him, just hurts his heart from the stress at the thought of it. Following that theory though, it could be that all "blanks" are just that and that no bullet would be real, which only the dealer knows, further explaining his calmness with getting shot.
This game is giving me Inscryption vibes. The way the figure talks, how they're mostly obscured in darkness, how you can use items. All you'd need is cards.
It would be the best multiplayer game to be honest, playing Russian roulette is more fun doing it in a group, sadistic and usually questionable but funny
I love how the developer had no idea on how to return a sawed off into a normal shotgun so he literally made it so the cut off part of the shotgun just comes back to existence
Dealer is probably some neutral supernatural creature so i'd _wager_ that the dealer just bring it back into existence because he controls the roulette. He also killed god mind you
@@TheCheeseMovesSidewaysI think that one of the prior players had possibly talked to someone who played this before and won (he should have had the knowledge about this thing from someone) and he told that some names were already taken or smth and if they lost papers with them may come up in game, so the dude decided to do a big trolling

love the vibes of this game. i have a feeling the creator was inspired by inscryption, which makes me like it even more. i love the music that plays when the player dies
Dude how is no one talking about the immediate tension and music drop when they pulled out the bloodied contract signed by GOD. God himself literally played a game with the Dealer and the Dealer won.
i love hearing the player's heart pump if the round gets dire with one charge- realizing the next shot they take to the face this round will be their last. edit: forgot to mention but this can also happen if a handsaw is used to amplify shotgun damage
Hi! Yeah there is a splice there. That was because I kept shooting him and he kept on healing himself for a few rounds! For the playthrough I lost the third round on purpose to show what happens when you die. I also made a point of not using too many objects as you need a little uncertainty to increase the tension. :)
I love the dealers mannerisms and the subtle details, like how you have to take time to file the barrel of the shotgun but he does it with this aggressive yet almost graceful swipe.
@@musilicks Dealer doesn't know what order the shells are in but knows how many live and blank rounds there is and judges probability based on that knowledge. For example if you have two blanks and a live one you have 1/3 chance of shooting yourself and then a 1/2 chance of shooting the opponent therefore your odds are better if you start with yourself
I love the style of this game so much. The creepy nasty environment and the muffled music in the background paired with the and uncertain outcome of the roulette along with the grossly overkill use of a pump action shot gun as opposed to a more elegant revolver makes for a really tense and dangerous feeling atmosphere. The sudden cut to black when you get shot makes your deaths feel a lot more real too.
Everything feels so _grungy._ The sound design is amazing, I love the screeching of the machines and the pulsing nightclub music that serves as a demented background track to your game.
This gives me Saw vibes from start to end. The atmosphere, the machinery, the crudeness... the last wire-cutting machine, for example, settles it all. There's no way this wasn't inspired, albeit partially, by Saw.
I’d like to see an indie dev make Elden Ring or Baldur’s Gate 3. 🤣 And before you say those are exceptions, know that there are infinitely more shovelware made by indie than there are with broken AAA games. This game is a gem amongst an ocean of crappy indie games.
I want more games like this and inscription. I love the dark atmosphere and sound. Im hoping these games spark alot more indie devs to create unique expirences with this type of horror 90'sesc vibe
Love the machines, but I see no link with cosmic horror, they're very understandable and down to Earth, everything is outlined, even if not explained, even the starting conditions of the deal, he sticks to it and never betrays the deal. The whole game is based on real items and principles well understood. It's a grim world, but one likely to be true for someone.
We already have a Russian Roulette VR game with cards/ items to mix up the gameplay. It's called Bullet Roulette. This game would be perfect for vr with it's gritty, dark, claustrophobic feeling. The simple yet terrifying face staring you down with no fear. And pointing the barrel of a *shotgun * at your head not knowing if it's going to go click or go boom. (Now a side thingy about possible multiplayer because I can) Yes, this game would be fun against other people. But I feel that would ruin the fear. It would be much better how it is on PC as it is for VR. Single player. However, if you were to add multiplayer the best way to do so would be *without* voice chat. As well as keeping your opponents hands hidden until they are interacting with an object. Almost dehumanizing them, making them look like *just another face*. Not some dude with his first headset looking to scream out your eardrums. When I see another player I don't want to think "This will be fun". I want to think "It's me or him". And a fun way to help with a me versus them mindset would be with the money system. Idk what you could do with the money, maybe you could buy faces, or skins for the items, or even whole new items. But give the money a purpose. And then at the start of each match each person either can put in a set amount of money or bid higher. And it would be winner takes all. Now I know what someone here might be thinking. "But what if you have no money?". A loan system, you can take out the bare minumum to play in a match. Then make them pay back the loan plus intrest once they finally win. And maybe a full reset system too where if you take too long to win a match or something and you owe so much money to the bank, ooh, actually I think a loan shark would be better fitting at this point. Anyways, once you owe too much money the loan shark sends a guy to kill you (now this is where we would tie into the mask/item/skin mechanic). The guy will kill you and you will now be in the body of a new guy, you lose yours skins, items, masks. But now you have some starting cash again to start playing! I should totally become a game designer 😎
This is one of the reasons why I like Alpha Beta Gamer. His intro isn't flashy, over-the-top with weird dubstep music, it's actually to the point, very short and charming, not to mention the gameplay videos he provides has no commentary, but you can still kinda feel how he plays each game. It's incredible.
This has one of the most interesting and unique environments I've ever seen (reminds me of if bioshock and iron lung became one artstyle) but its not really horror-ish with the dealer in front of you smoking and drinking, (and tbh he comes off a bit endearing) but the atmosphere is more cool, and I think that's better than a traditional horror atmosphere
I'm getting so much inscription vibes from this game! From camera movements and to the enemy sitting half in darkness with just his hands that could be seen

Call me crazy but I don't know if I'd get in a shotgun Russian roulette contest with a sharp toothed demon in a run down building. A pretty freaky, grungy little game. The item effects are pretty neat and can really change up how the round is going to go.
I think it'd be more tense with a 6 round gun. I mean, the demon puts the bullet inside and they'll fire in the order they were put in, I don't think that's a fair one

Very tense and engaging gameplay, even from just watching it. gives me the vibes that Inscryption gave me when I first played it; very good 👌 Also, the Field of Spikes on the death screen reminds me of one of the proposed methods of communicating to anyone in the future about the presence of Nuclear Waste Disposal sites
What a vision! I remember playing some old weird games, like "Boston Bomb Club" or the eponym "Weird Dreams". And since 30 years, I'm like "what a blessing, to have lived in such a creative era for games! If only you could have known the feeling, to just take a game at random, and sometimes end up on pure jewels of weirdness like those! You never knew what to expect, and you were never ready!" I'm so glad there are more eras like that, like 2010 first horror games trend, or this recent one keeping the flame on, thanks to Mike Klubnika, Yames, and (many!) others like them. What a treat! :D
This is really amazing, everything from the music, the animations, the environments are all excellent, the barrel reappearing after being sawed off and fired is just really eerie and cool.
Very cool game! Great atmosphere and sound design. Would personally feel the "dead" ending would be alot more effective if the game simply exits - kicks you back to your PC desktop. However im sure Mike Klubnika has some symbolism he wants to show with the depiction of a "godless heaven"

Tense as fuck but i loved it. I pretty much jumped every time a live round goes off and you hear and see the shot and the screen goes black and silent.
Imagine this game but instead of it being a one on one single player, have it be a multiplayer game with a larger table. The money you earn lets you buy different masks that resemble the dealer mask’s horror aesthetic. That’d be a fun game to play through random matchmaking or with friends

@@mastermarkus5307 given enough time, and a ton of random statements, you can make sense of anything :D
Glad you liked it, as I figured that would be the most logical real-world equivalent imo; that blanks would still have a primer, which is why they are loud when fired, yet don't kill someone. I figured "getting shot" doesn't kill him, just hurts his heart from the stress at the thought of it.
Following that theory though, it could be that all "blanks" are just that and that no bullet would be real, which only the dealer knows, further explaining his calmness with getting shot.

We *need* a VR game like this
This in vr would be freaking terrifying
i just think a online russian roulette game with a side mode for using a shotgun like this would be cool
(Now a side thingy about possible multiplayer because I can)
Yes, this game would be fun against other people.
