I wish they'd do an extended cut of Serenity with alot of these scenes added back in. Alot of them really helped to explore the character's relationships more and flesh them out, along with given us some better looks into the 'verse.
In an interview Josh actually corrects some of the Operatives assumptions. 1. That Mal doesn't want another war, just wants to go his own way. 2. Keep walking keep moving that is how he moved on after Serenity Valley. 3. "What a winer?" in the next few seconds Mal asks Zoe how she (Serenity) is doing, and Zoe who just lost the man she loves simply says "She's tore up plenty, but she'll fly true".
I can understand taking out scenes for the theatrical release, but on the DVD they should put them all back in again. The real fans want every second they can get.

The problem is that we are in an era where nothing is sacred, everything comes back. But for Firefly to continue properly it needed to be revived before 2006.
Nah, I can see why they were cut. The escape passage and the scene when Inara says "I told you to hold on" were good but don't really advance the story. When she says "Why didn't you ask me to stay?" was also good, but maybe solidified their relationship more than Joss wanted, since it was her basically admitting she loved him. And since there were plans to continue the story in comics, Joss probably didn't want to nail down every little detail. Plus, crowd-pleasing moments don't always make for the best storytelling. Or put another way, the customer is _not_ always right.
I really wish the scene where Mal says "What a a whiner" had been included. It's exactly how I feel after listening to every "Evil Monologue" I've ever read or seen.
I think the relationship with Reynolds and Inara whether Platonic, Romantic, or otherwise should have been looked up and further too more then originally intended perhaps if this show got more seasons it would have had more time resolving things between them I like the chemistry and there acting towards one another I think it can go from cruel to funny to scary to violent to sad to a bucket of other types of feelings and expressions.
+macabre_laughter Chances are though that he would have changed that effed up idea process and made them more compatable and not as horrendous and shocking as that I mean Inara was one of the best characters along with Jayne and Kaylee even River had her moments she is a great action hero and I like how she constantly makes people second guess her only to fool them all over again.
imho... Mal and Inara have a mirror relationship that sets them apart from each other. Mal is withdrawn, Inara is open. The two can't meet, even though they are matched by shared life and experience. That's their drama, or tragic romance. ikr!

Mal has no idea, nor can he even imagine a relationship with her because of her high social status and his rock bottom social status. Remember, Mal is deeply angry at the lot life has dealt him. Of course, as Kaylee pointed out, he basically pushed Inara off the ship (presumably with his disapproval of her profession), but still risked everything to "rescue" her in the Serenity film. And then complained about her being back! Which mirrors the fact he wanted Simon and River gone but took them back too. He is, as Inara once put it, a complicated man.

I think the show might have made history the only show that only made it for one year and it was not picked up that turned around years later and made a major motion picture if anybody else knows of the show that had the ability to do that or the fanbase that hardcore let me know
you get to see so much more of some of the character's in these scene that i dont understand why they weren't left in. it would have given more depth to the character's

Nope. Speaking as someone who's actually been on the end of a camera, and outtake is called an outtake because it is a _take_ you don't use. A take is one film clip. Scenes are made of dozens and dozens of takes. A single line can can have 2 separate takes in it. Deleted scenes are not outtakes, because they are entire scenes. An outtake is an attempt at a line, action, or moment that, for whatever reason, didn't get used. Not a scene.
I am not so sure that the Operative would be a good spin off but maybe it would have been better that he would have a longer chase/adventure in order to get closer to the Serenity crew.
To be a Petty Thief in that reality has it's Up Side ... she is a very attractive Love Interest This is why I love this Show and then the Movie ... Everything is Possible and those of us watching have our druthers. Stupid Hollywood did not know what they had and they can never re-create it ... the Magic is now in Re-runs only

These are Cut Scenes not Outtakes right? Outtakes are when they mess up their lines or trip or something. These are scenes they cut from the movie to reduce time.
when they mess up their lines/something goes wrong its called bloopers (reel). Those are often also in included in outtakes at the end of films. (there is also a bloopers video for firelfy on this channel) Outtakes generally just means that those takes were not choosen to be part of the finished product (cut scenes and outtakes mean more or less the same thing. While Cutscene may implicate that the scene was cut while they were filming). As in this case they often go more in death or could be totaly different/alternativ scenes, endings. Often actors are asked to do the same take multiple times (with differnt approaches in voice, movement, ec) so that the director can choose what fits best when they arrange the final cut.
