I was hoping you'd actually use the amp with that keyboard.

I'm using 2 KC-110s as a modest PA. They work well for vocals as well as instruments such as acoustic guitar and flute. They are great for close, intimate settings. They can achieve 90 dbs at 3.meters set at the half-way setting. Nice amps for their price and size. I would highly recomend them.

Great review. Thank you. I am guitar player, but I think this would great to hook up with my backing tracks and jam away. I can even bring it to small gatherings and have fun with friends. Sure does seem to pack a punch in such a small and lightweight package.

Hey PMCC... I liked the Roland 110 so much, I bought a second to use with my Zoom R24 as a modest, but adiquate PA system. Its beautiful for small, intimate groups.

Something I just found out: Using battery power gives you only 20w, while using a power adapter you get the full 30w.
A frequent critique of the of the KC 120 is the limited volume. I have one and I have seen that too. However, the other night I was playing with some pedals that offered a strong boost to the signal. The KC tolerated this well with little distortion other than an occasional clip on heavy bass notes and delivered a lot louder volume. That makes sense because the amp is built to tolerate 30w and, with batteries, it leaves you enough headroom to push the volume. I'd be willing to bet that using boost reduces the battery life, but louder is more good 😄 Try one at a store and see. I've also noticed that the batteries start delivering lower volumes all the way to being too drained. If you see the power lit dimming when you hit a note, it is time for new batteries. Fresh batteries are key.

I've used a little Roland mobile cube for 5 years on the streets and at small functions to play backing tracks for my saxophone. It is still perfectly good, Roland are very nice quality, now I need a bit more oomph so the kc110 looks ideal (I also play electronica and the little Mobile Cube does not have the volume for synths and beats). Problem with Mobile Cube is the headphone out cuts off the speakers, I want a line out to provide audio to a PA or to a digital recorder.
    So kc110 hello.

This is still a great amp. Roland now offers the KC-220, but I don't think there are many (any?) differences between the 220 and the 110.

Nice review! if you need a bigger amp for let's say 75-125 persons what would you use if the PA sounds like crap?
I have recently decided to slim down my gig set a bunch off pounds before my back brakes into a 1000 piece puzzle. And as you already have said this little amp actually do it for smaller gigs and another great thing is that if you really need to bring a singer or if you sing yourself it dosen't sound to bad. It's not optimal but you will survive. Thanks again for your warmth and passion for pianos.

Chuck have you ever had a chance to try the 'Roland Cube Street EX' that seems to be a 'bigger brother' to the KC-110. At 50W vs. the 30W of the 110 (and with two 8 in. speakers), the lower/bass end might be a little fuller in sound...possibly with a little less clipping.

Thank you for the review! I'm debating between the 110 and 550 for use with an Roland electronic drum kit. Any opinions on which is more suitable? I was told the 550 is what I need for the range - any thoughts on whether the 110 has that much less of a dynamic range for drums?

  • @Gray51Wolf

Also, I would recomend using a 10 inche woofer, instead of 6.5... Better bass than something less...

I have a heavy EV speaker for my Yamaha MX keyboard. I am not satisfied with the sound and that thing is too heavy as get older to carry around. If I find something lighter in weight and sounds good, I would be ready to sell that big EV. I gave my son my old ton heavy Roland KC500 but I miss the great sound it had.

Hi PianomanChuck, Greetings from Melbourne.. Thank you so much for the review, it provided me with some idea of the capability of the KC110. This will assist me in making a decision to purchase one. Please clarify the following..
    1. Would a Roland KC220 speaker/amp would it be a good matching for Roland Go Keys keyboard?
    2. KC220 speaker/amp is it better than a basic studio monitors?

You'll want to take these questions to a forum for answers. First thing you'll be asked is what you're using the keyboard for (home use, performing publicly, and at least a dozen other questions - all of which are relevant in determining an answer to your questions). I suggest "the keyboard corner" forum at forums.musicplayer.com

I would to know how the roland cube street ex stacks up to this KC110 (or kc220) for keyboard use. The cube street ex is more powerful, but i wonder if the range/sound quality is appropriate for a keyboard.

consider the Vox Vx-50 BA lightwight, portable bass amp at $229.99, or stepping up to the Bugera bass combo amps, either the 1000A with an aluminum cone or the 1000 with a hybrid paper and aluminum cone. They're a thousand watts, selling for $411.99. Best wishes with your gear hunting!

Hi chuck, been looking for this review all over utube.
I have a kc550, a br800 recording studio, i downloaded backing tracks, I am able to remove the bass, rythm guitar, lead guitar and vocals. I have ordered a tc helicon performance vg, sennheiser in ear monitor and a amp for it and a mackie dual DI box. The kc 550 works good for my standard electric guitar, but not for my strat. Too much bottom. My question. If I got a kc110, or kc220, linked in stereo with my kc550? How would I hook this all up. Where would I put the DI box. My firt time doing anything like this and if I got two kc110 how would I hook up with the kc550. Please help. Oh, and I have a heil Fin mic in transit to me as I text you.
