    I don’t know why but if it is about electric piano, nothing beats the Yamaha for me. Pirchased a YDP 161 more than 10 yrs ago or so, and I am absolutely satisfied. No issues so far, souns awesome and the action and pedals (it also have half pedal actions) are just real.

  • @WoodworkerDan
    @WoodworkerDan 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    I have the Roland FP 30X and I absolutely love it. The action is exactly what I was looking for, but at a lower price than I expected to pay. I also like the sound. Some other pianos seem a bit bright or even tinny, but the FP 30X has a warm, balanced tone.

    I bought the Roland FP30X last month and I'm delighted with it. I really like the key action and the key surface texture. For me, it makes a big difference in my enjoyment when playing. My wife says the main piano sound has more of an electronic note than the Yamaha. I think it's due to the speakers. Some speakers need time to 'relax' and soften. The sound is fine on headphones which is what I normally use anyway so it's not an issue for me.
    The Roland was £80 less than my 2nd choice Yamaha P225 (on Amazon). My previous keyboard was the Yamaha DGX-630. I bought a Z-frame stand with trolley wheels that's proved useful to maneuver the piano e.g. when cleaning. Although it's classed as a portable it's still pretty heavy (15kg)

  • @AdamRiccinto
    @AdamRiccinto 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    These are all really excellent instruments for the price point. Obviously sound and feel is going to be quite subjective. Roland has a pretty rich piano sound but it's a sound unique to its own because of the modeling Roland does. The Yamaha is clearly a Yamaha Grand sample and the Kawai is clearly a kawai Grand sample. Between them, I find the Kawai to be more accurate and I've always just preferred the sound of kawai to Yamaha anyway. This particular Casio doesn't happen to do much for me but I've heard others that I liked quite a bit.

      Doesn't Roland sample Steinway?

    • @inkinthesnow4638
      @inkinthesnow4638 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree completely. I used to have a Roland and found the sound incredibly rich and unique - nothing like any acoustic I’ve heard or samples I’ve heard. Unfortunately for me I found the action of it too heavy or perhaps too unique. I switched to Kawai which has a beautifully balanced touch to me and just loved the Kawai grand sound.
      I own a Kawai Mp7se which I believe uses the same sound samples, so it feels right at home to me. And yes the Yamaha just has the Yamaha sound which you can’t go wrong with.
      How lucky we are to have all these choices these days! 😊

    It appears to me that when it comes to a musician’s opinion about an instrument, it is very subjective and personal. If you have 10 comments then you will have 10 different views of what they believe is best and why. I think I would be happy with any of the ones you reviewed in this video. I play for my own satisfaction and that , to me is what counts on the bottom line. I just love music. It part of my soul. Amen😂

    Great review, I have watched several review videos of all four, and they all are great. Any one is a win. But, Roland is my favorite brand, but for the price, I would get the FP-E50, now $100 cheaper at $900, or the new RD-08, which is a slightly less expensive version of the RD-88.

    Absolute perfect review. Thank you! Am a classical pianist who didn’t play for 20 years. Saving up for a Bechstein R2 and don’t want to buy another accoustic as it’s a “to stay” situation to get into my small flat. So - until then - I am really hoping I can make due with a digital piano. Your Roland and Casio sounded pretty nice. But I have always hated playing on digital pianos as I felt it gave nothing back and felt “dead” and thereby not inspiring.
    What would you recommend for me? Budget max 2000 usd.

    I am leaning toward the Kawai. It sounds thin here, but I am hearing great attack and just the kind of brightness I like in a piano. I'd reserve judgment on all of them until I heard them through a good headset. Oftentimes the sound of these smaller instruments are masked by the little speakers built in.

    I am so disappointed in DIGITAL pianos by now. I purchased an upmarket digital piano some years ago and never played it excessively so I expected years of joy from it and very little maintenance, since it does not have to be tuned, etc. But to my dismay I had to experience all sorts of problems with it after the first few years of having it. I would play it and gradually some keys stopped responding when I played on them or randomly blast full volume while playing those keys during playing pieces of music on it. Then I had to learn that my digital piano has a different set of maintenance issues that would cost me to open 160 screws all over the front and back of it just to insert new contact strips which seemed to malfunction much quicker than similar strips on an old fashioned electronic calculator. And the import costs for those rubber strips are not cheap. Which begs the question: is there really a digital piano that will not cause me this type of problem? Because I was really disappointed after my experience with a digital piano. I often use earphones playing this piano since upon opening the piano I also noted the speakers are not of such great quality for the price of such a piano either.

      I agree, but I find that a bit weird as I've found the ES-120 to be warmer than most in some other reviews.
      All-in-all I'm leaning strongly towards buying the Roland FP-30X after many hours of research. Just need to try a couple for myself.

    I have owned a Roland FP-E50 that I really liked, but unfortunately had defect after defect, so much so that it spent more time being sent back to the store than it was in my home. This really has me turned off of Roland purchases in the future. I then tried to replace the FP-E50 with a NuX NPK20, but that was a huge downgrade from the FP-E50, it sounds very poor and feel mediocre. I am now looking at Yamaha, but am not a fan of the lack of a digital display. So I'll probably look towards the P525 instead.

    No soul. Unless there is a system in there that randomly puts some notes a little out of tune so that you get different fréquences every day. If not they are as dead as a digital upright piano. No soul. No music.
