@@carlitosjuarez221 Well, to be fair, players have been RELIANT on non-red-health based survival for the past decade+ of this game, of course a character that has only red health will be disliked by many people.
I personally think she's in a great spot inbetween a normal character and a keeper/lost type "no health, go fuck yourself" character.
Eden Soul is actually reaaaaally good with Bethany, here is the effect.

The part about this being the first time Isaac has been voice acted is actually falls, in one of Bumb-o's endings, where we see Isaac playing with all the pieces of the game he says "No, mama, please!" when Mom comes in and tries to take away his cardboard cutouts

Holy light is Based on luck but in a broken way Even in Repentance like at 15 luck 70% is a Holy light shot but at 23 luck it's 40% holy light shot Holy light is by far the most Broken Luck based tear effect on the game but it fair tho since it does Hella good dmg

I’m not sure if you know this at all but...Maggy now starts with a Full Health pill instead of a Speed Up and she will always have a Full Health and Health Up pill in the rotation. Just thought I would put this here for Hutts or anyone else! Edit: I also remember that the I’m Drowsy and I’m Excited pills now affect Issac as well. Second Edit: Spikes, Curse Rooms, and other similar things no longer get rid of your Devil/Angel chance. Third Edit: Dark Bum can now drop Runes, Cards and Pills I believe. But the hearts he drops will always be Black Hearts.
Honestly, I prefer the Speed Up. Devil deal is more important, EVEN after repentance.
Plus, same with stop watch, it's been reverted to being always active. Doesn't decrease your movement speed, but decreases your/enemies' shot speed.

I had an insaaaaane synergy with bethany on first floor where I got the unicorn stump in first item room and every time u used it it was a one room charge, added a fire, made the fires invincible upon activation, and they were based on your damage stat. I beat mega satan and every boss all the way to delirium. It was OP.

Here the effects i found, THERE IS SO MANY.
Telekinesis: absorbed tears becomes wisps, but they break easily by projectiles, and they rotate further than usual.
Shoop da whoop: it's powerful, when firing this active, all wisp also fire the active
D1: can duplicate one of your wisp i guess ? (in empty room)
dad's key: wisps are keys and can open doors, chests... (consumes the wisp of course)
plum's flute: when activating, your wisp attacks like baby plum as well
Anarchist cookbook: wisp destroyed spawns a troll bomb.
Book of shadow: wisp are shielded, I think they are harder to break.
Butter bean: wisp don't attack and disappear if you change room, but they knockback enemies and tears away from you when their break. It's very defensive. And good since you can spawns a lot in one room.
The story just, damn. Ed has always killed it with his games and this is more than I could of asked for
I first found your channel when I was looking for rebirth content then stayed for all the rogue likes and such and now with all the new content to the game and excitement of new things reminds me those days. Keep doing what you love hutts I hope your channel keeps growing because you deserve it

Bethany synergies well with charging/lower tear rate builds on earlier floors too, her wisps make it way easier to deal with getting cornered even if it's only like 2 or 3 :]
They increase the rate of tears being shot even if they turn out to be weak and they actively damage things that get to close. Also in Gehanna, you got those flies because Beelzebub I think.

The first time I saw the mother cutscene I'll admit it hit REALLY close to home for me and I had to take a few days break to just process. I'm glad to see a game that tackles abuse, especially religious abuse, like this since there really aren't many out there that do (to my knowledge).
I know it's very vague and just one word, but when Isaac says "No mama no! Please!" something tells me that the "please" indicates this isn't the first or first couple incidents of abuse and neglect from his mother.
The extra lore that Repentance added is so heartfelt and emotional. I adore it.
I'm so stoked for the new repentance content. That end cutscene though.. dang got me close to tears. As a Christian myself, I find this game so fascinating in it's story and what the creator is showing with this game.
God, that cutscene just gets me every time.
Isaac's mother punishing him for creatively expressing his frustrations hits so hard for me because I've been there. It's tough when you have abusive parents.
Good thing Isaac gets a happy ending.

I've found that box of spiders with Bethany is really good. It just spawns a bunch of wisps that turn into spiders when killed

My opinion on it is that Edmund really changed the way games work like how even though you worked hard it didnt end how you wanted it to.Edmund showed that religon can make people diffrent and not the same and he showed that this religon can get a grasp on people and view the world diffrently.
My personal favorite combo with book of virtues is with the clear rune item which creates a rune when a fire is extinguished and shoopda woop which causes the fires to fire brimstone lasers every time you use it. Works best around item generation or low base charge for quick use. Can create infinite fires with d1 and hierophant card. D1 has personally saved my run 2 times so far. Also if you use clear rune on jera, dagaz the more rooms you have to clear to fill it so that infinite don't exist.
I'm two minutes in and the editing is so beautiful. Awesome to see you progressing as a channel hutts.

Haven't watched much of your content for a while and now I'm back with the Repentance. Honestly great video, you explain what enemies and new items do and that's great cause I wouldn't understand much without it
He might have already figured this out but:
First + second floor, base game floors, then go onto alt path floor, this will put you on downpour/dross 2. Get first knife piece, and get and additional 3 items (item room, boss item, mirror boss item). Then go back to normal path using the hatch, this will put you on caves 1, then go to alt path for mines/ashpit 2, get second knife piece. After this stay on alt floors if you plan on fighting "Witness"/Mother, or just go back to normal floors after downpour/dross 2 and don't want the functional knife familiar.
^ This is basically the best way to have easy floors and get bonus items.
Psy fly is lowkey the best addition to isaac XD

Awesome, so much repentance content recently!
Going into a devil room will halve the angel room chance for the rest of the run. Unless you get Duality or that one item that gives you 100% angel rooms.
The white hearts
The holy hearts
Regenerate their second half per room
They can basically become a holy mantle if respected properly
Bethany's holy flame has homing and regenerates the same way
If you really want a very nice synergy, get unicorn stump as Bethany. You get fires that are invincible when you are, which allow you to get some amazing damage while unicorn stump is activated.
If you had looked up what Edens soul does with book of virtues you would've realized that it gives you a special random fire (that can be from any synergy with book of virtues) and if that fire is lost it is replaced with another random synergy fire after you leave the room that it was lost in until the end of the run.
Edit: just stating facts not trying to say that hutts is dumb or whatever.

About stat changes, shot speed also now only changes the speed at which the projectile travels, doesn't change the distance

I'm loving repentance, the difficulty increase is still very hard for me to get used to but after watching and playing so much Isaac hard mode was not hard at all. I could win a run with very little skill and pretty meh items but now I have to really improve at the game which is a nice change. And all the new achievements are going to be fun to get so I can have my 100% back!!
I love how Beelzebub makes most types of flies friendly now tbh

Kamikaze is the best item for bethany and nobody can convince me otherwise. I enjoy becoming a massive walking explosion that shoots smaller explosions. Basically a medium atomic bomb.
Idk if anyone else has thought pf this but let's say you play bethany, get tammys head in your first item room, on your sencond floor you get school bag in the shop, book of revelations in a library, and brimstone in the devil deal. I just thought "holy crap, you could stockpile a bunch of soul hearts then whatever boss you face will get obliterated"
What I would do is not use tammy's head unless I want to, then when I get to a certain boss I want to face I just unload all the soul hearts I collected with tammys head, I wonder what fires you get from tammy's head, maybe one that shoots in all directions
The line "you're just like your father" is really tough to hear as a child, especially if growing up your father was demonized to you
I once had bot fly and psy fly as Lost, and everything was going good until I got to Mother and then they decided to stop working.

I haven't yet been able to figure out how to keep Bethany's fires alive in order to have a full circle of protection, but I did manage to complete Bloody Mary after several failed attempts. Getting Old Bandage as the first boss item was pretty dope for that challenge cuz it had the potential to spawn pretty much all the health I kept losing at the start of the floor. It didn't work like that all the time, but it was still a godsend when it gave me even one heart after getting near fatally stabbed.
One thing about psy fly, It also smacks projectiles, turning them into friendly homing projectiles.
Singularly the best item with Bethany is Unicorn Stump. I was literally able to beat Mother only picking up 3 items: Unicorn Stump and the two knife pieces. Bethany literally gets rid of the only two weaknesses of Unicorn Stump: the need for an orbital and only being able to use it once per room. You have to try it!
Beth and Tainted Beth are my favs
Tainted Bethany might be my new favorite character
the best synergies I've found are Guppy's Head (refill your sprites every screen!) and How To Jump (which spawns a stationary sprite every place you jump, for free)

The soul of bethany is SUPER good. Get it when you can. Appon use, Bethany's Soul will spawn fires like her book does. It spawns 6 Random Fires.
Also Tip for Gideon: Use a Chaos card on his head
Speaking of souls, Soul of Eden is the one i THINK spawns flys so yeah
And i think the Brimstone Flys that loved you Were because of Beezlebub

yeah, kinda awkward with the low quality voice acting, voices that don't really fit and how we've had the cinematics be "show don't tell" up till now, in this one they are saying exactly everything that's happening and it really doesn't feel like isaac at all

best bethany active in my opinion is shoop da woop the flames it spawns shoop woth you plus regular attacks.
in short we hear you like shoop so we put da whoop in it so you can shoop da whoop while you shoop da whoop. i had enough soulhearts to completly skip the first witness phase with it.

FYI, Gehenna is pronounced juh-heh-nuh, not gah-hen-ah. Gehenna was a valley near Jerusalem where a Judah King "caused his children to pass through the fire." There are a few interpretations of this line. One is that the children were walked between two lanes of fire. Another is that they sacrificed children. Yet another is that they forced the child to travel literally to Hell and back. Though this is a much less common interpretation, it is probably the most interesting and likely the one McMillen was going for. Either that or the Sacrifice. The reason I think it's hell and back is because

in order to get to Home, you have to travel all the way down and all the way back up, passing through hell, so to speak.
You got the brimstone flies from the beelzebub transformation. I turns all fly type enemies aside from bosses into allies, it is crazy busted for the ascent.
Apparently Book of Virtues + Eden's Soul spawns a random wisp until the end of the run. If it's destroyed, it's replaced by a new one after a room clear. Never thought the book would synergize with Eden's Soul like that.

I'm really loving repentance, feels like a whole new game and puts a nice little bow on the lore as well. It's oddly refreshing to have this game kick the shit out of me after I had completed every post-it note in AB+. While I haven't unlocked bethany yet (game loves to give me bad items with lazarus) I have unlocked two other interesting characters. Seeing fresh, clean post-it notes on the character select screen after so long was absolutely terrifying, but I'm psychotic so I'm going to fully complete every character once again. No matter if they're normal, or tainted.

the best synergy i've seen with Bethany is Shoop da Woop. the flames casually fire tears but if you activate Shoop da Woop all the flames fire a laser too and honestly it's one of the most broken thing i've seen

I love that Hutts removed himself for the credits. The people that worked on this game need some more recognition.
About Isaac (and other active item characters) making you not want to change active items, I think they really should make those undroppable and bound to the Q key, like the Tainted characters. (Bag of crafting, Dark arts, etc)
