  • This fly is great for mimicking peanut bunker fish or herring for saltwater fly fishing, and can mimic shad or shiner in freshwater. Tied in the high back style both over and under the hook, and with lots of flash for a tail. This fly really attracts the fish.
    Hook:
    Gamakatsu SC15 size 1/0
    Body:
    Super Fiber (royal blue & white) (blood red for gill, and hot pink for under belly)
    Flash:
    Krystal Flash (blue)
    epoxy:
    Solarez UV Curing Epoxy "hard thin formula"

    Every bass ,bluegill, crappie and catfish slam them ,

      +Renato Castello Thanks man! Yeah I like this fly also. It does really well, and when tied with such a good hook, your gonna have a good hookup ratio. Fun fly to tie, and fun to fish.

    This fly will not sink with so much material. You can wrap some .020 or .025 Lead around the hook at the bend . Test it and if you are happy coat the lead with uv resin to secure it.

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does sink, just need to strip it a few times the first cast to soak the materials. Once it’s soaked it will sink. Yes you can add lead if you want as well. Will give it a faster sink. Thanks for the tips. Check out some of my newer tying videos. This was one of my first. Lower quality. I’ve gotten better at tying also in the past 7 years.

    Nice fly! Thanks for the share!!! Subscribed! What is the exact name of the fiber you are using? I tie a similar fly with craft fur and it works but you don't get much of it and it can be costly, also tried the Enrico Puglisi fiber but it is expensive too. Thanks!

    “Super Fiber”? can’t find it anywhere, on any search or any site.
    Can you please provide me the exact name and information plus hopefully a link on where to find this material?
    Thank you

    So if you add to much fiber they won’t sink ?

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      no, just will take longer for them to get waterlogged and then sink.

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  ปีที่แล้ว

    Incredible tie, not sure I'm ready for syn fibers ? Does it actually go down in the water or skim on top.

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      when you first cast, sometimes it will sit on top, but one strip and its down. If you have issues (because of tying to thick) then wrap with a bit of lead wrap. But what I like most is that it will land soft (without a plop) kinda like a dry fly in a way. Then with one strip it will sink under and stay about at the same water column. It won't sink quickly, but will sink slowly, more like an actual baitfish.

      McFly Angler . Thanks for your reply, I'll tie one, you know I'm old school. I tie for some of the best guides on Florida.

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't have to tie it. LOL I don't make these video's to tell people they "must" tie them. But, I hope it helped bring some insight. Good to hear you are tying for some top guides. Please tell me your favorite patterns, I would love to see your work. I have another tie of this one that I did that I think is much better. At least the filming is. Check that one out here. th-cam.com/video/uXWHkjUfNoI/w-d-xo.html

    If I tie half that much fiber in, it does not sink....just skims across the water. I'm using EP fiber though.

    • @McFlyAngler
      @McFlyAngler  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, check out my new one with this, I used less fiber.

    • @TheKurganster
      @TheKurganster 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Looks better. I scaled mine down some more too and upped the hook size...going to hit the flats with a few of these today and I think they will sink this time!
