Honestly I wanted to wait a Tatars build order but like I said the civ was just too generic early, this is much more special. I make a few mistakes in the build, not with the economy but with the military. So make sure to find your opponent fast with the militia because you need to do damage early for this to pay off, and make sure you make your barracks at the front of your base. It takes practice to manage both the early military and hectic eco with this build, but with practice it all becomes possible. Hope you guys enjoy! - เกม

What will happen ehen I try this build order :
Militias chased by wolves, then run straight into TC.
At home: housed every 5 vills, but that is ok, because there is not enough food to make vills, and also because hunter died to boar to make room for the new vill.

It's OK, the important part is you never stopped creating villagers. That is as long as you were not housed...
You can see at 4:41 he already has the militia AND the scout on stand still . (not sure what is it called) . Besides the unlucky wolf stuff that can happen I think this is a great way to prevent them running in the TC . That happened to me to the first time I tried it because I couldnt multitask the militia and my eco at home so quickly.
@@Babachaw Try this on gold rush and round up all of the wolves in the center with 1 militia, so you have your scout+militia on his woodline and the suicide militia with wolves trailing behind him 11
That happened the first 5 times I tried practicing it against moderate ai lol. But once I kinda had it down it absolutely destroyed my opposite opponent in a 4v4 noobs Arabia
I can rush in 1 minute. Send all my starting villagers and my scout to murder enemy villagers while my TC researches loom.

@@chinedumonuora1557 you can put villagers in TC for 2 things:
- they automatically drop off resources when inside
- it is usually faster to garrison, set gather point, and ungarrison vils than to make them walk somewhere (thats what he meant by teleporting)
Man the good ole days of AoE2. Played this when it came out in 1999 and for a long time afterwards. Great great game.

The thing about spending the resources for an early militia is that if you kill their villagers, it's basically like taking food away from them since they will have to blow more resources on making new ones. To do it so early in the game means you have the advantage of only having to deal with an undeveloped civ. And lastly, food is a huge thing early in the game compared to other resources. So many reasons to, at the very least, harass your opponent early.
Imagine following the rush with forward towers.

That's impressive that you found this build already. This seems like a strategy that can either put you behind or snowball the game out of control for you.
But damn, I don't think I would be able to do damage with the drush while managing my early game eco at the same time. But, I can't wait to see this in pro games.
You should not end up behind if you do it properly, your TC has no idle time and your investing less than in the usual 3 militia drush.
Doing it properly is probably impossible for most players though

I applied this a several times when I started playing online and if you can get good damage (800-1000 ELO) the opponent will reach feudal much later and you can follow with tower rush. A top playing will not delay much feudal time so that's much harder. As a ~900 ELO player myself I say it is really hard to not have idle TC.

It looks like you've managed to match your speed of talking to your speed of clicking things in this game. I suggest to watch this in 0,75x speed, I like how you say "enough talking" at 2:26, but ofc you'll continue to talk and explain the BO. Awesome video bro!

I just used this in a 4v4 Arabia noob game and it worked perfectly. 2 militia drush w/ scout, keep em off berries and woodline, got like 3 or 4 vills easily before he killed my dudes. Followed up with an archer/pike push in feudal, which knocked out 3 stables, his BS, a few mining camps, countless enemy villagers and his tiny man at arms army. By castle he was completely done.
I was lucky enough to get an outer wing/flank starting position.
Also, I'm terrible and played horribly, so it would have been much better if I practiced the opening more/didn't suck. Also got pretty unlucky finding him just like in the vid, which wasted time.
Either way 9/10 would recommend.
Ty Hera for that, I tried this, I managed to lose 2 vills to a boar, and then I killed the boar with TC while focusing on militia.
Great explanation and demonstration of the drush with my native civ :) One unrelated question, though. I am currently learning AOE2:DE and among other things, I am trying to rise my APM and be very proficient with hotkeys. I notice you clicking the on the town center then clicking on the Advance to Feudal Age button instead of just pressing the Z hotkey. Is there a reason for that? I would really like to know.

Interesting, why not skip loom though? Isn't the whole point of loom to counter early aggression (provided that you don't mess up boar pulls due to lag). At the position you are at, I don't see how any early counter aggression can come your way any time soon.

In my online games drush only works against lower level players, other people either house wall their lumber camp or relocate their villagers to a safer woodline, which waste a little bit of time, but at least worth a try. Stealing the boar is much more annoying for the enemy in the dark age.

I've never seen anyone click so fast!!
I would try this, but one of two things would happen.
1. Vil dies to boar while microing MAA
2. MAA die to vils and scout or TC while microing boat lure

One question? Why you pro's put vills into the TC for some seconds sometimes?
A couple reasons they might do that:
1. To move villagers across the tc faster, they essentially teleport over it
2. To move them onto some food source within the tc faster, and this also forces a drop at the same time. For example, if the next sheep is not right next to the villagers, they can tp to the next one, while dropping their food from the first one. This also works from sheep to boar, because if you try to collect food from a boar with sheep food in hand, you will lose the food.

Whilst I think this , unless perhaps followed up with towers wouldn't be sufficient to damage another pro player besides forcing a little bit of idle time , its still pretty crazy. It's definitely alot of work and its debateable if its worth pulling , but nonetheless pretty amazing. Love to see what people come up with
I disagree, i think u transition into a decent feudal age after getting a really fast drush in, seems good to me
@@HeraAgeofEmpires2 Oh yeah , the economy back home shouldn't really be in a bad spot, what I was thinking more was about the damage this could do in a pros environment , maybe im underestimating the damage 2 dark age millitia and a scout can do , but the strength of this particular build is the lack of loom from the enemy, so I can easily see how someone can get caught off

Lithuanians: Get two unique builds
Bulgarians: Get a unique build
Tatars: Gets so overshadowed by the other new civs that they don't even get a mention on their own video
The fixed cost of barracks kind of make me think it is better to just go with 3 or 4 man of arms and see what happens to distribute fixed costs over more units therefore not making 2 units so expensive . In the end of the day we have to distrurb opponents economical development more than it costs us to produce those units.
The barracks is also a prerequisite for other production buildings, such as the two archery ranges Hera built in Feudal age. So you would instead have to explain how the wood and villager time can be better spent when delaying the barracks. Or argue for a tower rush, TC drop or castle drop (or wall rush, or kamikaze villager rush!) without a prior barracks...

Well even with loom the militia can still harass the vils, i think its best to do loom but also to wall in ur vils

@3:52 How do you have 11 pop at 2:15? Am i crazy, does "Normal -1.7" not indicate game speed? Mine says the same and even if I cheat infinite resources and hotkey the first villager as fast as humanly possible I cant hit 11 pop until 2:55-2:57. Did they tweak the game speeds in the last couple years?

I think in another video he explains how it is better to raid in "stand ground" stance, I think so that they don't separate or go off to be killed by the TC.

Slavs is faster. Barracks acts as pop space, but you'll have idle tc time unless you build only one militia instead of two

Yes possibly, but by then ur opponent has gotten loom or walled up, i think its better to just save till feudal. The build is quite tight in dark age

How viable is this against people instead of AI's though? I imagine a person would get loom unlike the AI
In competitive play you usually try to get loom as late as possible (as then you get your villagers earlier). Your opponent might click it when they see the drush incoming, but that might be too late. (Of course, if they know it's coming, they might click earlier. But this is an economy disadvantage too.)
