The real value of this video is to teach you how to turn a simple idea like "if you are not motivated to begin a task, just do it form 15 minutes" into a self-help book, and a 1000 talks and interviews. You can literally substitute any similar idea and you have a plan.
“Wow, this TED Short was incredibly insightful! The way the speaker explained complex ideas in such a brief amount of time is truly impressive. I love how these shorts make learning accessible and engaging.
I’ve been doing this for several years now and reaped the benefits. I do it all day long, in between I read, or meditate or walk. I never thought about it as being “book” material!
Cool! After your 15-minutes on a task, how long is your break? E.g. do you read/meditate for another 15 minutes and then maybe return to your earlier 15-minute task or start another 15-minute task?
This has been a strategy in cbt for adhd peeps like me for ages. Glad its being shared!
Loved that saying about being proactive when God helps to move our mountains!
I have been doing this for years! When I was in my masters program and teaching full-time, I used the 15-30minute rule. I would use it for each task. Now that i teach full-time HS at a low income city that is a charter and involves a lot of compliance computer work, I actually time myself at work. I start with 15 mns and go up or down in time for each task. That's how i found out which tasks were just time wasters in the workday. I even nap and eat in 15 minute increments. Weird right?
A therapist told me similar a few years ago, but she suggested a 5 minute rule
Love it!!! Now I just need to do it!
Thank you so much ❤
Amazingly true.
Hearing this explained enthusiastically by "Professor McGonagall" 🤣❤ inspires me to think maybe I really can do it!
Set an alarm for 15 minutes to try and use the 15 minute rule.
Fantastic, many thanks
Love from Tripura ❤
Love from Buenos Aires ❤
I listened to this whole thing and I don’t understand what the 15 minute rule is
"You are what you do, not what you say you do."
If you're thinking about doing something, be about it. Strive for 15 minutes. Turn thinking into doing.
Thanks
Gamification of chores is not new, but thanks.
❤ great
Pomodoro technique be like am I a joke to you.
I'd rather not buy the book just now. Can someone tell me this: is the 15 min rule meant to be a *daily* exercise?
Sounds like it. She said to do the thing 15 minutes, three days in a row. On the third day, you can continue longer than the 15 minute timer.
Yes I do it w/ journaling.
Listen to the talk. She tells you.
TLDR - Just do it and stop wasting time thinking about it.
Seems like Parkinson's law !
I am not able to understand , can you please make it available in hindi
