About Alaska. I remember trading for some green swordtails at Eilson AFB in 1965. Dead of winter, I walked to their house and brought the fish back in a thermos bottle tucked in my parka. About a 15-20 minute trip on foot. They survived and here I am watching this 56 years later.

Idk if u remember my comment but the fishes mouth was decaying and I think that’s called mouth rot I searched it up last night is there anything I can do to prevent my tank from getting the bacteria ? Also thank you for helping and reading so many comments it was also isolating itself from the other fish I put a tetra fungus guard tablet in the tank and let it dissolve now my water is cloudy and I wanted to know if this is normal and what I can do to prevent this from happening again
I found a tetra with a weird mouth in my tank yesterday! I was so shocked. I’d never experienced that ever and so I removed him. I thought maybe he was bitten by the betta even though I hadn’t seen that behavior before. I’d love to see what responses you get.
If he wasn't injured its probably from stress/too much ammonia, nitrites or nitrates
Try treating them with api erythromycin and test your water if it's about the ammonia I would add some plants especially floating ones like water lettuce or Amazon frogbit and check to make sure there's not a dead one behind decorations
I suggest to Google how to cure columnaris

I used to have a bare, plastic-y aquarium because I seemed unable to keep my plants alive (as an example, I once had a bunch of Vallisnerias literally melt until they disappeared). This channel + Foo the Flowerhorn inspired me to try again. A few days ago I saw my new plants pearling like crazy and sprouting new leaves and I could've popped a bottle of champagne open I was so damn happy.

My dwarf sagitaria grows to the top and flowers and does wierd stuff that I find interesting. I have liw light in a 20 gal tall and it makes the plants need to grow taller. My dwarf sagitaria works like valisneria lol

Man, you should get a sample of that white bacteria/fungus and put it under a microscope! If it doesn't seem to be fungus, it would be really cool to gram stain it and identify the type of bacteria it is! As a biology major, I find this stuff to be fascinating and it would be really cool if you did this. :0

To remove surface film from an aquarium just use paper kitchen towel draped across the surface. Turn off the filters first and let the water settle.
To insert one tube of plastic into another a little hot water will make the plastic malleable.

Have you seen Seachem Tidal 55 hang on back filter ? It’s the best filter I’ve ever purchased a little expensive, but it does everything mechanical - chemical- biological. It also has a built in surface skimmer .Comes in 3or 4sizes. Easy you don’t have to play with all that tubing . Good for beginners or experts. Have a great weekend ! 🤗

I don't use a surface skimmer on my 60-P and never get surface slum/protein buildup. I use one of two things, a lily pipe setup and an air atomiser. Give a 'misting' air diffuser a try. You can view how it looks over in my channel.
