Thank you so much, Joe! A pretty much detailed if down-to-earth review of my future piece of tech. :) I've just subscribed to your channel (I've also watched your DR40 and DR100 MkIII reviews). Keep it up!

Very helpful, Joe, thanks. Can you give any guidance on which recording mode to use in different scenarios? For example, recording two voices with an xlr mic plugged into ch1 and another in ch2, and a safety track for each? I'm confused about when to use dual mono and dual stereo, or any of the recording modes really. Thanks.

Thanks great video. What Rec mode would you use for a podcast setting with two mic’s ( two people)?

Hi Joe, awesome video. I've been watching dozens in the last 4 days, so glad I found yours. Thank you ! That camera OUT connection, so if you run a cable from that Camera Out port on the Tascam TO your camera, you can basically override the audio that the camera is recording ? If you remove your camera's SD card later, the audio will be that of an external mic, instead of the internal mic on your DSLR or video camera ? is that how it works ? ( what port would you be running this TO ? on a camcorder ? ) and I'm guessing you must enable this in the camcorder / DSLR's menu system in order for it to work ? ... thanks for your time if you can spare some - it's much appreciated Joe !

Can the TASCAM 60 D MKii be used for headphone only, even if using mic directly in to DSL Camera? Thank you for your informative videos.

With the dual mono/stereo or the 4ch recording does that save each input to it's own file or to it's own channel? For example if you have a mic in xlr 1 and xlr 2 will it record both mics one to channel left and one to channel right so you can split the two mics up if needed?

if you have set it to 4 channel recording, each upto 4 microphones will get its own recording. This means that you will find two stereo wave files on the sd card per recording. Which are in fact 4 channels of audio. xlr mike inputs can be xlr microphones or lines and the combo input channels 3 and 4 need a stereo mini jack as input. 3 and 4 channels need more input and therfore cannot be called real microphone inputs. I would call then between microphone and line inputs. I use channels 3 and 4 to connect the receiver-unit of lavelier microfoons as the receiver has a higher signal output and channels 1 and 2 for directional or overhead microphones. channels one and two can be microphones that need 48v phantom power. I always use the 4 channel recording setting but others use the safer 2x2 channels recording with which you can record at two gain levels to play safe on sound signal levels. I hope this answers your question

Sits unobtrusively under the camera, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Like Barbra Streisand has an unobtrusive nose. good video to be fare but that just made me giggle when I saw the way it goes under the camera.
