- I went to change the Endcards and Ad Placement. The Video got stuck in the infinite processing glitch in TH-cam's garbage editor studio. Hence I had to reupload it. Long Tube vs. Short Tube. Equal vs. Unequal. 180 Degree vs. 90 Degree. Welcome to a basic guide to help you decide what kind of headers to run your car. Unless you have a Rotary. In which case, enjoy the two tubes that pretend to be headers and kind of sorta meet a mid-pipe. Fun days. Anyways, I shortly will be getting nice set of headers put on my beautiful Leone, and I hope to unveil it in the coming weeks. Most Corvette owners like to go as deep as possible and rumble the Earth, but I preferred to do something a little different. I decided on a high pitched scream, one that'll that'll piece the heavens!

Stupid question, would it be advisable to get a ECU tune if I were to get short tube headers installed?

Easy answer. Always. For shorties, an email tune would work fine. Anything longer, I recommend Dyno tuning.

@@390nm they can be tuned in really well, but it all depends on the person tuning it. Doesn't take care of itself like an efi system

It's been many years since any Mustang , Camaro, Firebird, Corvette or even a Mopar had cast iron exhaust manifolds.
LOL. Even to this day I can't truly 100% hide my country accent. Two times it shows through are if I'm tripping on words, or if i get really riled up, I'll give up on attempting to gentrify my speech and just let it all come out.

A Shelby GT350 with equal length headers will do the trick. It basically already is a Ferrari engine anyway. Without the deliberate exhaust scavenging jamming, the car will scavenge evenly and scream like a mofo. Especially with it's high RPM. There's some videos of it with equal headers. Unforgettable sound.
Honestly kind of interesting to hear what a diesel engine would sound like with each of these set ups :D

I just found your channel and I don’t know much about cars but man your channel is Amazing I’ve learned a good bit from the couple of videos I’ve watched!
I would like to see a Bladed Angel guide to car laws.
You do mention that some stuff are illegal, and legal in different regions. It would be nice to know more about these laws more specifically, and where those applies. You can also go through misconceptions and less known laws that are good to know. Informative, and interesting. - But it would also be great if you could cover more regions than just USA, for your international audience.

Finally I can make my automatic v6 Mustang sound like a v8
About a year ago, I had short tubes installed on my 03 Dakota 3.9L. Between that, the cat, magaflow rumbler, and turn-down at the bed, it sounds nasty, but tame at idle and low rpm cruising. Due to the fact that the engine only revs to around 5k, I don't get quite the drop off that some cars get, and it still sounds good if I'm pushing redline. Only complaint is the drone that comes with have an exit underneath the vehicle. I've had a number of people ask me if it was the 5.2L since having it installed, so I guess I can be considered a ricer now... 😅

@@tony_5156 From what I know , the ZR1 isn't out yet. Also , if I have the money to buy a ZR1 , I would insted invest that money, because right now the economy is crap but it will go back up eventualy.
I think ima go with equal length shorties on my 2003 Chevy Tahoe v8. I’m all about prolonging the life of my engine! And shorties seem the best for that with little no no issue of installing! Hell yeah!
I just got some headers from AFE for my Titan and a cat back exhaust as well.

Hey Bladed Angel, I was wondering, would it be possible to tune the sound of a piston engine through the use of extremely clever header design to make it sound like a Wankel/rotary?
Of course, the more amount of cylinders a car has, then it would sound more "even", which might help make it more possible, but not everyone can afford to drive a V12. What about a clever header design that can make an inline-6 sound like a Wankel/rotary?
So I'm thinking that the primaries have to be equal-length and also bequite small and short, so the speed of the gas is moved evenly and very quickly to join with each other. I'm also thinking that it must be a 6-1 instead of 6-3-1 as most inline 6's use. I'm thinking that the system might also use a high-pass-filter resonator, to only allow high pitched sound to come through, which makes it sound even more like a Wankel/rotary.

My westfield has a side exhaust so i dont have to worry about hitting the exhaust on the ground but the oil sump is very low.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention how exhaust pulses are affected with different header setups. Subaru guys especially will tell you that it’s a world of difference between EL and UEL headers.
i have true long tubes running straight from my 400sbc right out the back of my 48 diamond t 201. 76 lifte k2500 with a rat-rod truck body means no fitment issues at all

My 04 Monte Carlo SS 3.8L (not Supercharged) has a med/low rumble sound at idle. And sounds like a V6 muscle car at 4000rpm.

An option for some mid 90s early 2000s cars is a chip I have the jett stage 2 on my 4cy 5speed s10 with a header and cold air and it went from painfully slow to slightly less slow (14 sec to 12sec 0-60) ecus are expensive and getting a actual performance gain from a stock ecu with a header for like 200 buck is totally worth if u plan on daily driving just do your research

In the state and county I live in the only emission testing is lift the car check to see if theirs a catalytic converter and it passes

I can honestly say this is the very first time I have ever heard these 2 things being the first that it will magically make your car like something else when that is what the muffler is for yes headers will change the sound but make it sound more "tin like" and now the 2nd thing what is true long tube headers are you trying to say full length headers cause thats what they are classified as so you can turn out the collector out the side of the car and long tune headers or as you say mid length are for you to continue to run the exhaust all the way out the back
What all could I get rid of in an engine bay to fit mid- tubes? It's so crowded and I'm wondering how much of it is necessary when I see hot rods that are just the engine, tubes, massive carburetor scoop and some turbos.

I've never seen mids marketed as longtubes and all of my car buddies and I all have true long tubes. I've never run across anyone in person running mids. Not sure where you're from that longtubes are such unicorns

I would love 180 degree headers
The most important thing to get right is primary tube diameter... In a n/a 90degree V8 primary length is is far more important than than being equal and shorties are a waste of money, even more if equal length.

my car has an exhaust leak, probably gonna do equal length (so I can still run on 87 octane) shorties when I replace the original manifolds because most of the 54 year old 330 ci V8 is torque anyways.

180s are very expensive. I probably should've mentioned that in the video. They have very few practical applications. Like Corvettes and Ford GT's. They're mostly sound. 90 degree is always better for cheap performance.

Long Tube Headers... 05-2011 Grand Cherokee SRT8. Who Else Went Through Hell And Back Installing Them And Lived To Tell LMAO. 11 Hour Install Time On My 06 Jeep Commander With A 5.7 Hemi. And I'm A Chrysler Tech With 5 Years Experience. Omg I Was Gonna Do A Cam Later But The Thought Of Taking The Headers Back Out Gives Me The Chills hahahahaha

Especially for 4 bangers, the reason boxer motors sound the way they do is because they have unequal length headers/exhaust manifolds.
Headers use one combustion of a cylinder to suck the exhaust out of the next the the same way a carburetor works that's why you get more performance not just because they flow better, that doesn't do a whole lot

Is it ok to just drive with the performance mods if you have an adaptive ECU? I put headers on my 01 tundra and the only real tune available for these plugs directly into the ECU and disables it from overwriting, but it costs $600.
