My Honest Review Of The New TRIUMPH SCRAMBLER 400X

- In this video I try and give an honest opinion on the Triumph SCRAMBLER 400 X. This is simply an awesome awesome awesome machine (YES I SAID IT 3 TIMES!) I think it’s one of the most handsome looking bikes available on the market particularly in that red colour with the contrast with the black details and gold suspension arms. The engine is a peach! and the bike handles like a dream. It really is a lot of bike for the money I think. It's very comfortable and is super economical.
I would suggest booking one out for a test ride if you're thinking of getting one.
A big thank you to my Friends at Webbs Motorcycles for supporting me. Webbs motorcycles is a fantastic shop offering a huge range of motorbikes, riding apparel and accessories. They have physical shops in Peterborough and Lincoln and fantastic online store. (Link Below)

Another reviewer said the maintenance interval is 10,000 miles! That’s very good although personally I wouldn’t wait that long.
Went on a 45min test ride today. I actually bought the scrambler 2 weeks ago after riding the speed. Now the had the scrambler available and it delevered! What a smassing ride. I'm 5'9 177cm and it's just perfect for me. It feels al the way like a proper bike. Handeling, speed, acceleration. I did a testride with a enfield 650 interceptor. The triumph was so much more fun to ride. Now it's just waiting until april when my fantom black scrambler is ready to go!
I’ve fallen in love with triumph as a brand - they have some serious bits of kit out at the moment … fantastic bikes !
@@marksgaragestuff I feel the same way. For now it's the scrambler 400x but I'm already dreaming of a bigger bike. The trident was just out of reach price wise for now. But in 5 years, who knows what triumph i'm getting 😁.
Smh pathetic.... Curb your materialism, my guy. I literally have dreams sometimes of getting the scrambler one day. Be glad you have one! There are people way less fortunate than you. @@Steph9nine
how is it going?
Did my first service this week. Have 1300k on it now. Stil so much in live with the bike. Power delivery is so good. It keeps goin from the low revz up to 9500rpm topping out at 160 on the bikes speedo. It handles amazingly well with the 19inch front weel. No offroading yet but that's something i will be testing this summer. Also love the sound of the exhaust. Specialy when letting go of the trottle or when down shifting.... Omg... And the seat is so comfortable. Also for longer rides. It handles the freeway just fine having enough punch to overtake. It also has no problems goin slower in a higher gear. I can easly cruze 50km/h in 4th gear. Enjoying the sound of the engine. It realy is an amazing bike 😁
I have seen many reviews of this bike but your review made me love this more than any other. I drove 150 cc bikes in cities about 15 years ago. And hoping to restart biking at the tender age of 39.
I'm glad you liked it, its an awesome bike and defiantly suited for the cities
😃 I really like your conversational style and content on your review.
Triumph builds rolling works of art. They make so many beautiful bikes.
Yeah I agree mate, super looking machines out at the moment
Thanks for posting. Looks like a winner from Triumph but personally I’d buy the 400 Speed for slightly better road dynamics and style.
Went into West London Triumph dealership (in West Byfleet) yesterday for the first time with my Dad who has a Tiger 800xt or something. And I saw one of these. Just beautiful. I don't even have a licence and I want one.
I love the look of this bike 😍 it's proportionally beautiful.
This is the bike I'd start with if getting into riding which I might actually do after watching this video!
Excellent review and ride buddy, your videos are really good 😃👍
Thanks mate! I'm glad you liked it, its such a nice ride and a steal for the money
It is fantastic
awesome reviews mark your really getting into this now
Yeah I’m giving it a good try mate - cheers for staying tuned
very nice looking bike and proper seats as well, I won't be rushing out to order one (I've never bought a new bike and never will) but I do see one in my biking future
Triumphs design and expertise combined with Bajaj's legendary manufacturing experience and quality is a no brainer. This will be selling like 'hot paranthas' in any market as it is already in India.
Great review, and your audio quality is excellent. What microphone setup are you using in your helmet?
Currently have a new Tracer 7 GT as we go touring. When I hang up my panniers this bike, or whatever is about then, will be on my shortlist. Would be great for day trips over Dartmoor near where I live.
Great video matey. Love the look and sound of the bike. I am considering the Speed 400 as I am short in the leg and found it more comfortable for me. I'm assuming the ride is similar for both bikes. I also think they've got the pricing spot on. Keep up the good work 👍
Thanks mate, its very comfortable and my partner Faye who is 5ft 4 managed to touch the ground and she thought it was really comfortable too
Triumph have nailed these 400cc machines.
Great review pal!
Thanks mate! I'm glad you liked it
I’m very tempted to get one and set it up for TET / green road type riding.
Wire wheels, semi knobblies, high fender, bashplate etc.
Main questions I have is standing position, and how heavy it FEELS in technical slow riding.
Awesome review
Thanks for the informative review.
I was unaware of this bike. So, do I sell my Honda CRF300 Rally and get the Scrambler 400?
I’ve been spending some time in my local Triumph dealership lately, and will be taking delivery of a new Triumph Scrambler 1200XE in a couple of weeks. The Scrambler 900s look pretty capable, as well.
Happy Trails
Congrats for the great review!
Which one do you prefer? The 400x or the speed and why?
Which one you think looks better?
Thanks in advance!
That's a really good looking little bike.
I think so to, it’s a Handsome looking thing
My honest review of your honest review, and being honest it is a review in honesty 😂 nice vid and a good review thanks.
Well, someone's in love. :-) Thanks for your great review. I went to the Triumph dealer today to have a look at the T120 and the 1200 XC (after 10 years without a motorbike) and suddenly found myself standing in front of the 400x ... I was thrilled and am seriously wondering whether I need more for the city and country roads. Sure, 1200cc is always an argument and I used to ride big bikes, but your video shows me how much fun you can have with 400cc - and to be honest, I won´t ride much faster than 100-130 anymore - those days are over. Maybe I'll have to go for a test ride after all. It's very tempting and my dealer has two bikes left at the moment - all the others were sold immediately.
Really nice review. I am ready for mine to arrive in Alabama. I ordered the green one.
Post a vid when it arrives. Red on a trail friendly scrambler sticks out like a sore thumb. On the speed, yes. Not for this bike though
@@CoelhoSports video coming for sure. The Triumph accessories I chose are the small windscreen, center tank pad, luggage rack, and the high mud guard.
Not sure if upgraded seat is worth the expense, but it does look sharp.
I want both the upper and lower engine bars. Still not sure if the upper one comes with the bike. The reviews from India say that it does. I still can’t get a straight answer on that.
I also like the bullet style turn lights. Again not sure it’s worth the add on price.
Luggage has been a big thought and I believe the Mosko Moto Reckless 80 will solve all my needs with a Triumph specific Cruz Tools kit in the Fatty Tool Roll.
For Navigation I will be using the REVER App with my IPhone on a Quad lock mount.
@@billesbacon i have yet to need navigation apps enough to need to have a phone on my handlebars....that's living in the Georgia highlands and putting over 10k mi a year touring and doing loop rides in four states.
I usually know where I am and where I'm going. I have occasionally stopped to check a remote intersection that splits 5 ways....but that's likely once a month or two.
I got the phantom black one! Mine will arrive in Bazel Belgium the end of april. A long wait but totally worth it.
Noticed you were at Webbs that will be Peterborough I’ve brought several bikes from Webbs Lincoln including thriumph thruxton thriumph 1050 gt thriumph bobber Harley Davidson 883 iron and my latest Harley Davidson xl1200 classic webbs are so friendly my self I’ve not visited Peterborough dealership but come summer time will go to see good vid. Mate
Webb’s Lincoln and Peterborough are really great. Super friendly and really good of them to help support me with things. Thanks for comment… more content to come throughout the year hopefully 😀
It’s stunning
Yes mark killing it 🔥🔥
Thanks bud
Nice review. I ordered the 400x in this color in July with initial expected delivery in Richmond, Virginia in early January…now expected in late February or early March. What do you think about the headlight? I’m planing on additional running lights for better daytime visibility but have not identified a source yet with an installation that I like.
Headlight was cool but if you got some addition lights I think that would look awesome and really suit the bike - what lights are you thinking on getting ?
I was in that shop yesterday and they had none left to sell on the floor, just the demo outside so it says something good. Should have test rode it but I too had my wallet on me😬.
Beautiful bike
I've seen them multiple times in person now. The fit and finish is as good as the much more expensive bikes that's for sure. I can't speak to riding experince havent rode one yet.
I highly recommend you test ride one if you can
Good straightforward review mate, thanks.
You forgot to mention whether or not you liked it though… 😁😁😁
Haha it’s a great bike mate I think
Will definitely buy this next year. Scrambler version will be not so comfortable as i am 5'7, So i will go for speed 400x.
Sat on the street version yesterday as scrabble to high for my short legs. Agreed stunning looking bike, street under 5k. I was thinking RE SCRAM for my run about? You know I may just change my mind.
Super bikes the both of them … have you given them a test ride yet? I’m testing the speed this Saturday which will be interesting to see if it rides differently
It's absolutely the best looking bike to be released by any manufacturer in recent times. Certainly Triumphs best !
Yeah man
That red really grows on you
Black seat and wire wheels would have made the look of this bike perfect for me.
Possibly could get the seat bleached? Not sure if you can do that to get it to black - yeah man get what you mean about wire wheels that would have been cool
@@marksgaragestuff i believe it would have uped the price qiut a bit. I'm thinking of using black shoesine on my seat (I went for the fantom black) to get it darker.
Your voiceover was particularly funny when you braked and had to pretend you were being thrown forward…‘I’ll just try these brakes here auugghh’
Haha that made me Laugh… I use the Cardo app to record my voice to be honest so it’s live … delay in time though… have been looking at somthing called the purple panda microphone which may help for better audio
Nice bike; nice review.
Thank you mate
Very impressive bike, it won't be that cheap next year, so if you're seriously looking at a small capacity bike ,then snap one up, what's not to like?
I feel that two things let that bike down to look at. One is the speedo surround and its needle, both are silver plastic that look so incredibly cheap in the flesh. The other one is specific to that bike, the brown seat, it's not a good brown and it just doesn't look good with that red tank.
Troppo bella!!Domattina vado a comprarne una
It is a really really nice looking motorbike… I was very taken with it also
how tall are you? im 6'4 and thinking about getting one as my first bike
Vibration at speed seems to blur the gauges.....might want to get that checked😀😂
Haha indeed… I told them when I got back to the dealership
Almost making think should I trade in the T100 for this 🤔
The riding review was interesting but I'd of liked a run down of the specs beforehand.
Cheers John… I’m pretty new to this so still working on how to produce the videos, hopefully I’ll improve over time
Nice looking bike! Is it similar to for example the KTM 390 - no power under 4000 rpm! Or does it have some power at low and mid range rpm?
I took one for a test ride a couple of days ago and I found plenty of low down power
@@simongood8664 Thats good to hear. I heard other testriders said the same
Yeah man I think it’s a solid ride and peachy engine… really engaging and plenty of power in my opinion - maybe take one out for a test ride dude?
I think so to
Good review. Ordering one from Malaga Triumph next week. Ive been waiting years for a bike that i can fit on. 6ft 4 in and not pay a fortune. Easy handling.
Thank you mate, you'll love it
Does the pillion seat come off? I think it would look great as a single seater
Didn’t look or notice my friend sorry
Other than being cheaper and a bit lighter is there any reason to buy one over the NX500? Looks to be about the same size but less refined because of single cylinder and no screen
Yes if I had a choice between these two I'd go the NX 500
One is a beginner scrambler and one is a beginner ADV bike. Scram has more rear weel travel. The 40+ pound difference is a lot. Don't want a screen. NX is Blah. Scram is beautiful. Thumpers sound so much better.
Not knocking the NX because it is a good bargain but there are plenty of reasons.
Well the speed 400 is $5000 and the T 400x is 5500 in the US
The Honda NX500 doesn't seem to be in US catalogs yet, but the CB500X that it replaces is still sold for nearly $8000.
Priced the same I'd likely buy the twin as twins provide better consistent power and Honda motors are very smooth....but a sub 650cc is typically a price game versus usability.
RE350s are basically 20hp CB250s/Rebels for $4500 including the required 500mi $500 metal shaving cleanout and valve dealer adjustment
This is 5000 or 5500
Honda is 7500 to 8500
I do wish TH-camrs would stop saying "my honest review". So, unlike your usual dishonest reviews then?
Not just TH-camrs but everyone. "Honestly", "Frankly", "Trust Me" and stuff.
@@JourneyOfLife001😂😂😂
It means the previous ones weren't but this one is...
This is my dishonest comment.
Get a life
What is the weight limit on the Triumph Scram 400x ?! I am always confused about the full load weight! Do they count the total weight of the bike + how much on the top or only the load weight without the bike?! Thanx ✌️😎
Not sure on load etc mate … bike seemed nice and nimble so I think it probably comes in under 200kg … might be worth checking the website mate
I'm confused. This is his personal owned/registered bike or is it the dealer's bike? At 8:40 he says "as for the value, it would be genuinely dangerous if i had my credit card". It's good to see people riding these outside india but it looks like i'm still just seeing dealer floor models in the uk. I saw an announcement from triumph posted online where they claim some problems in the suez have delayed the arrival of these for at least a month, meaning maybe March?
Have you heard any more news … thinking about getting one?
Nice review Mark. Have ordered the Speed 400 from Webbs Peterborough - fantastic people to deal with!
Did they say when you could expect it?
Thank you mate, I'm glad you enjoyed. I hope you love the bike as much as I did!
Viewed these bikes in the flesh so's to speak for the first time a couple of weeks ago here in Alicante. Very impressive in term of look and finish....love a Red Motorcycle..l know Enfield appeal to a different rider, but for those not sold on the Traditional Classic look and feel Triumph may will steal some of their [Enfield] customers. besides the Triumph has more 'Grunt'....
Yeah mate I get what you’re saying - for me the scrambler is the one . Love it
how do you clean front light with this "light guard"? is this detachable?
Good point and to be honest I didn’t look 👀
I confused on Colour Selection For Scrambler 400x please Help Red , Black or olive green. Thanks 🤩
They are all lovley colours arnt they… like them all haha the choice is hard :-)
How's it handling on gravel roads and during easy green laning?
Personally I have limited experience with off road / loose road conditions… I could imagine it being very good though considering how the suspension is set up … maybe there will be a review out soon on this specific thing
triumph have nailed these 400cc machine's....took them long enough 1973 yamaha rd350 106 mph with a big ole white boy on it
Good fit it seems for 6’1
Yeah really good
It's hard to know how honest you can be when you gush about how great they are for giving you the bike to ride. If you give a bad review do you think they will ever loan you another motorcycle?
To be honest I just say what I feel. Personally I love motorbikes and I like to focus on the positives. I genuinely think most motorbikes are great. The look and engineering of them are so fantastic. That being said If my honest opinion on a motorbike is ‘it’s not for me’ then I would be honest about that but I haven’t ridden one I haven’t liked yet :-)
So hard to decide if this is enough or if I should consider the Trident instead
Try and Test ride them both.
I live around a lot of gravel roads here in the ozarks of Missouri so I’d prefer the scrambler
Yeah that would be cool
How do think it would cope with a pillion
I think it would be fine to be honest - obviously would affect the performance a bit though
How about vibration ?
A little as to be expected but nothing I’d bother to point out - have you taken one out for a test ride?
Could use a more comfy seat for passenger
Looked really comfy but didn’t test it
What a beaut !
sad this bike if sold in my country the price would be over usd 10k (stupid luxury tax)
That's insane, hopefully they get some more in soon
Link for that sick jacket???
Go to Webbs motorcycles website and they have loads of cool stuff on there
thanks man
How much Top speed ?
Not sure but I think it would be good for around 100 mph or more … anything else been released on that yet, ide be interested to know also
A chain driven bike without a centerstand is a NoGo for me, otherwise I would order one in a heartbeat…
Anyone coming into biking in 2024 has never had it so good. The choices available are numerous, from none-threatening RE's to full on Suzuki Hayabusa'. But for me the sweet spot has to be the mid-capacity bikes (500-750).
There are so many awesome bikes and options out there, especially with the safety measures available now like the ABS act
I’m seriously thinking of trading in my 1200 speed twin for one these , scrambler or speed 400😊 big decision
Why are you thinking of trading in your 1200 speed twin?
@@marksgaragestuff nearly 75 in a couple of months, having said that I had a test ride today in the pouring rain after a wet ride to the dealership . Was a little disappointed found it a awkward uncomfortable ride and that front brake 🫣 when riding home on my 1200 speed it was getting back into bed with an old flame , shan’t be changing for a while unless I try the 400 speed on a sunny day 😊
To many issues with this bike has put me off. MCN had problems and this would have been a bike straight from the quality dept at triumph. Had leaking forks and electrical problems.
A bit fanboy, no mention of where in the rev range it’s vibey?
No real vibrations to write home about in my opinion - have you test rode one yet?
thats a better colour in red,byt the speed 400 in blue is nice also.
I think they're all awesome to be honest, Triumph have done such a good job on the 400X
The overall look of the bike is very nice. I may have some minor gripes, but that’s just the normal complaints from my brain 🧠. Would have loved one years ago. 👍🤪🏳️🌈
you did not ride on any twisty road to comment performance in curves
I’d love to get it on some super twisty roads - trying to find a good route near me bro
What Triumph wont tell you is that they have been running the 400 in India for a little while and it has thrown up a number of problems. With Triumphs infamous reputation for standing by their warranty claims I think I would leave it a couple of years before this bike was even on my consideration list.
Brown seat with red tank 😐
In the flesh it looks awesome mate
@@marksgaragestuff Will have to see it in real life, but will trust your judgement 😎
You looks like on a moped on it :)))
Haha really ? I though it looked cool
beware here in india there is only one case with broken swing arm
Wheat it broke?
Quickest way to ruin a new engine is to rev it then switch off
How come? Loads it with fuel for the next time it starts up or somthing? Interested to know the issue?
Why do the thumbnails say stupid things like 'honest review'? Would anyone intentionally put up a dishonest review? Huh?
Just meant to be eye catching dude. I kinda get what you’re saying though.
Yes if it’s a dealer who sells them
🤔 Meh....
Haha happy Friday dude !
Triumph? It's made by Bajaj Auto in India.
The Union flags on the tank don't change that.
Pride of ownership? Not for me.
Let's not forget depreciation.
What bike do you have?
Sound is really bad. Caballero fantic sounds 10 times better.
the bike is trash. would rather get a suzuki vstrom 800DE
plz be specific as why its a trash and comparing 400 with 800 isnt?
That 500lb bike is in no way comparable. Grow up.
Brand obsession is a mental illness.
What do you ride ?
Shit
