You just took me back to my early 90s teenage years where all the punks and some of the metalheads I knew had a Champion 100 because it was the only affordable 100-watt amp you could get, and it came with the bonus of being a 2x12. And they all put a Boss DS-1 orange distortion pedal in front of it to get more gain out of it. Those older ones didn't have that voice feature at all, and the only effect they had was reverb.

I’ve been gigging with this particular combo for a few years. I use the metal and blackface settings . Threw a mic in front of it and did a rock gig a few weeks ago , it’s just fine . Most use it for jazz type gigs , turns out you don’t need to buy a bigger better amp you just need a better drummer

@@Starch1b2c3d4a Since I wrote that comment I got a new 8 string guitar (my first one, it’s the Javier Reyes sig) and have been using the EQ Devices Plumes as a boost. I can get tones that are identical to the Mesa Boogie Badlander (I don’t believe it either), to sparkling, ambient clean sounds. The new guitar is part of the reason it sounds so killer but I’ve tried my old guitars through it and they sound amazing too. In short, I don’t feel so bad about the rig anymore lol. Eventually I’d like to upgrade my amp but since I can’t find anybody to play with, it doesn’t need to be very loud, so I’ll probably get some more pedals before a new amp. My only problem with the Fender Champion is that when I do turn it up, it gets a little messy.

Especially in these days of digital modeling, I really don't see the point of using tube amps if you're using IR's and modeled amps/cabs. It will take a pounding and will never need to be maintained.

I started learning on one of these in high school! It will in fact chug while you play wrongly written Metallica songs out of time, can personally confirm

My first amp, about 30 yrs ago, was a Park 25 watt. Made by a division of Marshall. Very similar to this amp. I used a marshall shred master, marshall drive master a boss ds and a dod grunge pedal. Not all at once but i could get some amazing sounds from that simple rig. Good for beginners. I still got that amp and pedals. Not the guitar tho.

This was my first amp when learning guitar and at first i loved it but dude after a while of playing metal i really noticed the difference between that amp cranked to 10 as hard as possible and just the normal lead tone of a spider
