@@TruckMaster Should have just came to illinois and bought mine. Fully built with maybe 600 miles on the 2016 duramax since getting it back. Just sits in storage, just to busy and have no time to drive it. If you know someone looking for one, let me know....Joe
Dang amigo. Sorry to hear about the huge motor issue. That seriously does suck. But… I am happy and thankful you post everything on the channel. Whether it be good, or bad. It’s good to see the real life problems you face. You’re one honest and humble dude. Don’t worry, the Lord will bless ya. Keep truckin brother.
Very nice truck, as always great build. I totally get your original logic in using a tired old LB7 engine for the original concept of just getting that old rusty truck back running. As plans changed and the truck went to a different direction, I totally understand using the old engine until the old engine decided it didn't want to go in the direction as the rest of the old girl. So mad respect, despite the naysayers. If I were a wealthy guy, I would sponsor a newly built, LinCo or Choate built LB7 engine. That's just my humble opinion. God Bless- Rob aka "Old Sarge."
Damn man, I'm sorry to hear about your motor but you'll come back better than ever! I'm partnered with TheAdrenalineDealer and 8lugs No Plugs and we'd like to share some clips of yours across our platforms with credit to you!
Despite the bad news and circumstances, as always its fun to follow along for entertainment and education. Im looking forward to the video on your other channel for the oil cooler upgrade because i need to do that on my truck. My daily driver lly is leaking slowly, from what i can tell its the oil cooler. I have looked into the banks kit. I'll be using your banks link when i finally decide to do the job. Im not looking forward to it though, its going to be a tough (but doable) job with the engine in the truck. Rock on truck master and thanks for the candid honesty!!
When you said why go through all this and not build the tranny- Not going to lie I thought that exact thought when you dropped a 400k mile dropped on its head engine into that perfect restoration LOL. Love the channel brother, you keep it real.
I just installed the L5p oil cooler in my LMM. I bought the kit from Lincoln Diesel for $200 less than Banks. Took me about 8hrs and the only down side is the smaller oil filter.
Alternator problem. You're very brave taking it out down the road. I would just do an electrical check check. How many amps did alternator is put now because there is a splitter or a battery isolator in the system to where once you start the The truck the second battery kicks out charges. Once it charges to full charge. Do your alternator won't send a charge to that battery and you run off of one battery after that
Bad luck man! My LB7 injector got stuck open last week. Threw a rod out the side of the motor while I was driving down the highway. Don't really want to put up with LB7s anymore because of that 😭😭
I’m with Gale Banks on this one….if the air inlet is stock size and the air tube from the air box is larger, you’re not increasing air intake. It only looks cool and costs more money.
I love the builds and notice you stick mostly to LBZs and LB7s, I get that the LBZ is supposedly the most desirable and the LB7 is best for power and racing, but why not do an LLY build ever? With a few basic mods and an upgraded radiator the LLY head gasket issue is never seen and I would assume the bigger turbo and American made piston heads would be better for power. I've got a 2005 2500HD with 450k miles on just about stock everything, only mods have been within the past few thousand and runs and sounds better than just about any diesel I've ever encountered. Just curious as to your thoughts on it?
02 lb7 ccsb 4x4... 3 injectors hung open and cooked 5, 7 and 8... Down 100psi of compression on each. Feel ya pain trucks been sitting 4 years. Has 30 over injectors and a 10mm cp3 and fresh head studs all with 200 miles.
@16:36 Somebody forgot they have a cheap china turbo on their 6.5L……. I’ll definitely have to get the L5P oil cooler setup when i rebuild my 2003 LB7 duramax truck.
Ya never know what direction a build is going to go until you start. Then the “while I’m here”’s show up. Next thing ya know you have a second mortgage to build it. Still less expensive than a new one though.
I don’t know if it’d be the same on that Duramax, but my stepdad has a freightliner semi that was doing the same thing pushing oil into the coolant, turned out to be injector cups
Also. The inner fender passenger side where the coolant bottle bolts to our trucks on my 03 3500 is rusting out badly. I don’t know if it’s the fender or the wheel well? You can literally look up above the tire and see the passenger battery and the coolant bottle. (It’s not the plastic wheel well. It’s the metal one on the outer side where the plastic clips to it
That’s a buzz kill, bro. but look at the bright side, it’s just more content for the channel 👍. The guys that tow heavy Would really like the upgrade. It’s a little pricey, but hey, it’s a Banks…. It works great 🤷♂️. The oil cooler is actually twice as big with More plates and cools better. Makes a major difference if you’re pulling 15,000 pounds on an 8% grade for 5 miles. Anything you can do to bring those temperatures down is a benefit. That engine seems like a nice set up and you’re gonna be happy with it. It’s “fun” power ….Good score👍. Hey there, i have a quick question. i am 15 and about to buy a LB7 for my first truck from a really good friend of mine, and it has oil in the coolant and blowby, the blowby does NOT blow the cap off the oil fill, but i puffs white smoke, did you have these problems and were they fixed when you took care of the cooler? id really love to hear back.
Haven’t watched the video, just came here cause the title made me think, it’s hurts to remember these trucks are 20 years old already and no more are being made.
Would have been a lot easier doing that job without all that perfect paint and bodywork just done. Now your going to have to be super careful! Good luck😂
when you put the 60% bitteroot injectors in the red lbz did it fix the injector ticks? My truck has a injector/ valve clearance tick on the passenger side, I’m trying to figure it out
I just need to know the proper way to jumpstart a duramax lb7 😂 I was told not to use the little (+) box on the drivers side. That it will fry the TCM?
I learned the hard way, when the batteries are testing less than the CCA, they are near or have to be replaced. The + post on the the fuse block is NOT for jump starting, connect straight to battery.
Hey I follow your channels I have a gmc 2500hd I’m looking to put new style corner step rear bumper on I thought I seen you do this on ur channel does it work can a newer style work on a 2005 Tia
After i bought the "Warthog" , my '07 6.6LBZ Duramax, I found Truckmaster and DUDE your Red '07 is the Warthog's Cousin! I have already had the FASS installed a couple months ago. Sunkist is Awesome! It has 200k on it. I need engine parts for same engine. Turbo, heads, cp3 not picky really anything dont have to buy that would be equal to what a used block would go for. I want to build a 1200hp lbz so anything that would put me on that. I just got stock engine so far.
When you were building that truck all the start up and stops without building heat is not good for the engine. It was probably started at the body shop and moved around 100 times.

Putting a battery on a concrete floor immediately starts to destroy the internals. The batteries are probably fried by some new ones to.
You should make a video on how you detail and keep your trucks and engines so clean. 🤩
Just when you thought you spent way too much on it 😄
Simple green mixed in with the water during a flush works really well to get oil out of cooling systems
