This interpretation is saturated with almost miraculous precision and a warm elegance of tone that many recording artists can only pray to capture. What a treat to find this!
One fully realises how incredible is the gap between a musical prodigy like you and the rest of us when you listen to a piece you played many many years ago and never imagined it could sound this good.
You can SEE - at 1:40 - that Sophia understands what so many pianists miss in Bach: This is DANCE music and should have the "bounce" and "sway" and "elegance" of an 18th-century Allemande... and her TRILLS - to say the very least! - are extraordinarily beautiful.
It is the smooth fluidity over consistent tempo that makes this performance so marvelous! Thank you, Sophia, you have amazing skill and artistry! Greetings from Canada.
(PS) The bass line is so beautiful and I have listened to it many times in a row. I felt a new side of Bach. I would like to listen to other Bach pieces as well. Thank you for the performance.
Excellent rendition. The second piece sounded very Gouldian. Solid tempo and articulation. Only issue might be too much highlighting of the trills and mordants. Tend to detract from the flow.
Wow, this is amazing; and 25 other commenters think so too (more eloquently than me); big thank you Sophia! ... Whereabouts in Canada do you hail from?
@@SophiaLiu_Pianist Oh what a delight to hear back from you in person and in less than one hour after first discovering you! ... "Dialogue with a soon to be world famous international pianist" ... But I erred in asking you where in Canada you hailed from. I did a very quick search of your name and, obviously, you don't hail from Canada or Montreal (although I'm delighted that your family decided to settle there, it still seems more artistic than Toronto) ... Your genetics and epigenetics, and thus much of the ramifications of your music talent, hail from sophisticated music and artistry in sophisticated societies way back in time - maybe 5,000 years, when Canada was just rocks, rivers and forests. My compliments and thanks to your family for nurturing, facilitating and supporting your talents, your gifts to the world!
Excuse me but I'm way older than you and can't resist adding my congrats to Mom and Dad for naming you "Sophia" because you most obviously are "Sophisticated Sophia" ... pls laff, don't roll your eyes!
The sound the boucles are so clear! bravo! You should register the inventions thé the six partitas and finally the Goldberg variations which are so inspirâted but finally bit so difficult

Love her trills and articulation. So clean and musical. Well done Sophia
La beauté vivante agrandit
Her thrills are so beautiful and graceful I could listen to them all day and night

This is the cleanest and also most moving rendition of this piece I’ve heard ❤ I had never imagined that this piece could sound THIS beautiful… 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Agreed. Just gorgeous. I am so envious!

A star is born, a supernova.
Future Gold medalist of the🥇Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition 💪
More like Gould medalist, since her Bach sounds just like Glenn Gould. Nice and staccato.
@@freethinkerpodcast1798 that as well
I enjoyed this performance! The trills are evoke a magical and mysterious atmosphere, like butterflies fluttering in the sunlight. 😊
Super la légèreté ❤❤❤❤
This was heavenly. Your tone is exquisite. Truly a joy to see and hear. Thank you!
Lovely Bach touch & voicing
I've just listened to this whole piece and I'm really blown away! .. BIG appreciation and BIG thanks, Sophia!
Really nice and creative ornamentation!
It is the smooth fluidity over consistent tempo that makes this performance so marvelous! Thank you, Sophia, you have amazing skill and artistry! Greetings from Canada.
Absolument renversant cette transparence de jeux. Sublime!
Wonderful performance! Please do more Bach ❤️
Thats perfection 🎉
Another great performance ! Bravo ❤
What a joy to hear this wonderful composition, interpretation and recording! ❤
Thanks so much!!
Greetings from Belgium.
Very nice playing! I love how you play ornaments, specially trills.
I adore this interpretation. So inspiring.
Bravissima Sophia !!!
Perfection
I feel both the brilliant side and the subtle way of thinking. You manage the slightly tight tension and the releasing spiritual aspect. Keep it up!
Wonderful! That last movement was flawless. You should be proud of yourself for that Interpretation. Thank you!
Her playing shows her cultivated taste and fine personal culture without any selfish egoism. She let out all the egoism of music itself
Is there a "selfless" egoism?
Absolutely magnificent. I could almost give up my addiction to ragtime!
Simply perfection!! Thanks for that!!❤❤
💗

fantastic

Although it's a lot of ornamentation, she moderated this piece.
Wonderful. Do they make you play scarlatti in this competition? Did you win?
