Playing Bach like she is, on a modern instrument of this calibre, must be like driving a Ferrari on a scenic, open road… It is a double-edged sword that requires mastery over technique I will probably never wield myself. Nevermind the fact that she memorised every single note, pedal marking, articulation, dynamic… albeit it some of her own… and perform the entire work in a single sitting. The sensitivity of each melodic voicing is beyond anything I’ve experienced in modern Bach playing. Mindblowing does not even come close… It is an honour to have access to your art. This is one of the best piano interpretations of this last of Bach's works. I love hearing it on the piano, harpsichord, and organ. The late German organist, Helmut Walcha interpreted it masterfully on both organ and harpsichord. This is a monumental work, and Maestra Czech absolutely brought this piece, which is very complex and difficult, to life. I am an awe of her talent.

Maestra Marta Czech's interpretation of Bach's 'Der Kunst der Fugue' is a perfect example of what the late Sviatoslav Richter called, "[T]the terraced dynamics of the late Baroque." Her achievement is at once breathtaking and astounding. I believe that Maestra Czech's rendition of this piece is far-and-away the best one that I've ever watched or listened to, hands down! Bravo!
Playing this from memory is no feat. You have to work on each fugue so hard that you know it by heart well before you know how to play it well. Playing it is a feat.
Miss Marta, I am swept away by your clarity and precision, over and over. I enjoy watching your hands as much as listening. But I am also thinking about the hours alone and sacrifices you have made, and only you know this, to achieve this success with these pieces. You are a beautiful soul, musician, and woman.

I don't believe I have ever heard a performance of Die Kunst der Fuge where every moving line of the Fuge is so clearly delineated...after all, the beauty of a Fuge is to submerge oneself into the counterpoint.
Lovely! Clear, transparent, every note counts! The #4 has always been my favorite Bach piece, going back to Walcha's gorgeous rendering. The plaintive refrain, which is repeated in innumerable variations, has so much to say... Marta is wonderful... thank you!
Well, The Homeric epics were originally unwritten narrative poems, learned and passed down orally, so it's got some precedent. But in our modern era, with so many more sources of input into the brain (mostly distractions) learning these pieces and then PERFORMING so elegantly is a testimony to the artist's intellectual and dexterous greatness.

Working as a visual artist in Canada listening to this with headphones allows complete concentration and uninterrupted flow state to complete very delicate and complex work with excellent results that may not have been able to be accomplished otherwise. Thank you Bach and Marta Czech❤
I am so moved by the beauty of this colossal work, as well as the crystal clear playing. The little bit of Polish ancestry in me is proud! Currently, I am struggling to sound passable with "Contrapunctus inversus a 3 [forma recta and inversa]", but my 80 year old fingers don't want to obey me. So sad.
Charles Rosen has made the point that Bach probably wrote and performed this work for the piano. He was at the court of Frederick the Great who did not like the sound of the harpsichord but owned 15 Silberman pianos. Bach was a friend of Silberman, and was interested in the development of the instrument. I can’t imagine that Bach would not be thrilled to hear this superb performance on a Fazioli.
The sound of the harpsichord is actually rather annoying and creepy-crawly; whereas a modern piano's is just gorgeous, full-bodied, subtle & thunderous.
I’m old. I still cling to antiquated notions about good taste in music and in dress. Marta Czech epitomizes those ideas, unlike some of today’s celebrated pianists who dress like Go-go dancers or gesticulate like cartoon characters. It’s quite refreshing.
I think that maybe, it would be better to just try to listen to the music instead of caring about dressing. Once there was just music, vinyl or cassette or wax cylinder, you wouldn't have cared about the dress. You could just try a real *blind* test... listening with closed eyes... maybe you could appreciate both Marta Czech and, let me guess, Yuja Wang?, for their artistic merits instead of their appearance.
I had to hear this again, and, if anything, it seemed even more impressive. For me this is one of the very best things on youtube - complete integrity throughout. It is so wonderful to have such easy access to great performances like this. Thanks to TH-cam.
The piano quality, the recording quality, the non distracting video editing and non distracting clothing, and the artworks choices (J.S.Bach Die kunst der fuge, Beethoven 32 sonatas..), suggest a serious artist, focused on art, I thought and then I did let go of all those thoughts, taken by the wonderful music, which is all that should matter. Congratulations and thank you ! I suspect a polish piano legacy from Paderewski, Chopin and Liszt. I support you, *GO GO GO* Marta Czech !!!
I hope even if it’s just 1 single person that sees this, that they have an amazing day and an even better future! 💖💖💖

Wonderful interpretation to such high level music, with so beautiful play, all from menory, using Gould method of short souns. The best music play I have heard last years. Remarkable and enjoyable performance. Thank you Matha Czech
Hi @ Miss Marta
Great performance. Happy 𝘽𝙚𝙡𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙚 to you & your many wonderful fans throughout the world.
Peace ...
I can see all paralel worlds you and Bach imagin. Congrats
I love the Art of Fugue. That was so beautifully interpreted!
She brings out each part in a way that I've seldom seen another pianist achieve. It's hypnotizing.
Working as a visual artist in Canada listening to this with headphones allows complete concentration and uninterrupted flow state to complete very delicate and complex work with excellent results that may not have been able to be accomplished otherwise. Thank you Bach and Marta Czech❤
A new admirer of yours Marta, of your breathtaking ability, intelligence, artistry and grace. You do the greatest composer of all time proud.
So sad.
It's in your heart even when fingers refuse to cooperate. I could not imagine life without this beautiful music.
@@mightytort4739 True. I can thank my dear Mother, who has been dead for a long time, that she introduced me to the love of music.
Fantastic!! She really understands Bach's music.
Fantastic performance, a little in the style of Glenn Gould but with the charm and virtuosity of Martha Czech, bravo !
Thank you for broadcatsting your interpretation. It's absolutey magnificent! It's a real delight! congratulations !!
Isn't Fazioli just a lighter touch? I'm a bit ignorant here...
The sound of the harpsichord is actually rather annoying and creepy-crawly; whereas a modern piano's is just gorgeous, full-bodied, subtle & thunderous.
This is incredible, congratulations for this Great work !
Danke für den musikalischen Genuss am Sonntagmorgen. 🙂👍🎹🎶🎶
So happy I found you. Very special. More after I hear more of you. 🥀🌾💐🌱☘️🌻
I very much like this performance. Fresh and clear without being idiosyncratic
Bravo!
1.5 h komplizierteste Musik - auswendig - ohne Fehler ....
sie hat Hilfe von Oben ...
sie ist gesegnet!
I` hear real tectonic very big work ,with very big prof vision on real composer!! Thank-you very soo much too!!
The Art of the Fugue always seemed to me to be a masterpiece of continual tension & release, even til the very darkly abrupt ending. I love it!!!!
I’m old. I still cling to antiquated notions about good taste in music and in dress. Marta Czech epitomizes those ideas, unlike some of today’s celebrated pianists who dress like Go-go dancers or gesticulate like cartoon characters. It’s quite refreshing.
I agree.
Those go-go dancers are circus artists. Marta Czech represents true art. But that's my humble opinion.
Cheers to that!
Marta, your piano playing has depth and utmost beauty. I am so astounded. All the best. Thank you for such an experience.
I think that maybe, it would be better to just try to listen to the music instead of caring about dressing. Once there was just music, vinyl or cassette or wax cylinder, you wouldn't have cared about the dress. You could just try a real *blind* test... listening with closed eyes... maybe you could appreciate both Marta Czech and, let me guess, Yuja Wang?, for their artistic merits instead of their appearance.
a stunning balance of clarity and beauty -
I had to hear this again, and, if anything, it seemed even more impressive. For me this is one of the very best things on youtube - complete integrity throughout. It is so wonderful to have such easy access to great performances like this. Thanks to TH-cam.
Beautiful, intelligent playing and beautiful woman.
This is a beautiful performance. Thanks for sharing it! I will listen to it many times....
