Thank you so much. My cell is 2 yrs old and got the RED light on. Every now and then I see the greens but now it's all RED. I will be replacing the sensor from these guys. Thank you again.
Pentair Intellichlor Salt Generator! PoolGuySupply saved us a bundle. If the flow light is RED but others are flashing the flow switch disables the unit.If you have flow and the pool is circulating then Replace the flow switch! $50 flow switch vs $600 plus for new unit? Thank You Pool Supply Guy!!!
If the flow switch works but the temperature sensor fails, simply cut the green wire. Don''t buy a replacement kit. I found a source on web that mentions the IC40 defaults to 72 degrees when temperature sensor is not detected. Careful with flow switch alignment because mine was misassembled and could not align without breaking. Hand tightening was 1/6 turn too much. No I should have tried to turn the 4/6 missing. Instead I should have revered and watch if there were any water drops. Anyway, although cap was broken I could align it using long nose pliers and there are no water drops. Then, salt level detection failed. I let it run overnight and salt level showed good.
Hello! I followed your instructions and it worked fabulous! Thank you. My only issue is that now my green light for the good salt no longer comes on. Do you think it's because one of my wire connections wasn't in tight enough? Not connecting? If you agree, do you know which colored wire controls the Good Sale green light? Thanks for any help you can provide.
I had two bad experiences installing replacement flow controls in my IC20 unit. As I would gently screw in place the new flow control, the little "nib" on the flimsy "finger / plate" would get hung up as I hand-tightened it. I really can't say why this is. Anyway, I discovered something that anyone installing a replacement should do to avoid ruining the replacement piece: place a (very) small rubber band similar to what might be used on braces or in a child's pig-tail to hold the plate with the nib back and in place. After properly tightened and aligned, use something thin to reach inside to slip off the rubber band and gently shake it out of the Intellichlor.
Pentair kit 520736 has only 3 wires. no green wire for the temperature sensor. The label on the old unit mentions temperature sensor but not the new unit. Manual says to short the green and white on the same side of a splice connector. In Canada, water temperatures reaches 72 degrees only 3 months / years. I will need to use a thermometer and manually switch the unit off/on to double the life's cell duration.
My replacement switch has 4 wires….green, red, blue and clear. My generator has 4 wires…green, red, white and black. I assume red goes to rd and green to green, but am wondering which wires the blue and clear go to? Any answers?
The flow switch in the video is an aftermarket replacement, so it does not have to be Pentair brand. However you do need to use a switch designed to work with Pentair IntelliChlor salt systems, because the wiring and internal temperature sensor differs from a typical open/closed flow switch.
No you don't, when using the provided button splices stripping the wires is no longer necessary, however if you do strip them back it will still work just as well.
Hello! If you have 3 wires on your unit, you will want to connect Red to Red, White to White and Black to both Green and Blue. Thank you, Pool Guy Supply
Hi Diana, for a complete wiring diagram including your 3 wire sensor, please visit the product page on our website, which can be found here: poolguysupply.com/collections/salt-system-parts-and-accessories/products/fs-p. Hope this helps!
I also have the blue wire. Did you hear back if you are supposed to connect it to the black wire? That's what I did and it isn't working. I still get low flow.
@@rvermilye My blue wire is on the new switch. In consulting with people on Trouble Free Pool they said blue wire should connect to black wire. Is your clear wire actually white? I think my clear wire was an opaque white. Hope it is working for you.

I came for the video and stayed for the music
😂

good video (other than putting the teflon backwards)
Wrap tape in the other direction.
Thank you for this tutorial! I never knew you could change the flow switch! 😁👍🏼

In your case the Blue wire will be spliced to the Black wire, and the Clear Wire will be spliced to the White wire. Hope this helps!
Will this work on a Pentair iChlor 30?
Is this a plain ol' flow switch or does it have to be a Pentair?
The flow switch in the video is an aftermarket replacement, so it does not have to be Pentair brand. However you do need to use a switch designed to work with Pentair IntelliChlor salt systems, because the wiring and internal temperature sensor differs from a typical open/closed flow switch.
You don’t have to strip back the colored wires ?

Current cell has 3 wires (red, white, black) how do you connect properly with the 4 wire replacement part ( red, white, black, green)?
Hi Paul, in this case you would simply connect RED-RED, WHITE-WHITE, BLACK-BLACK & GREEN (all 3 spliced together). Hope this helps!
Pentair has a black, white, red wire and replacement kit has white, red, blue, green. Which goes to which?
Hello!
If you have 3 wires on your unit, you will want to connect Red to Red, White to White and Black to both Green and Blue.
Thank you,

Hi I have an extra wire( 4 )from my generator and 3 from sensor.. How to connect?

I have a blue wire also…do I connect that to the black?
I also have the blue wire. Did you hear back if you are supposed to connect it to the black wire? That's what I did and it isn't working. I still get low flow.
Apparently they don’t know! I also have a blue wire …….and a clear wire.
