It may sound dumb, but I love dual daggers (parry + RKR) with an extra for assassins gambit and light armor (less noisy). Status effects, parry, backstab, take your pick! The only thing lacking is defense (if you miss the timing). Some of the funniest builds are also the simplest, like the Vagabond there. Great video!
Yeah the purpose of immutable shield seems to be to block specific attacks where you pre-plan to just nullify that one attack. Scholars armament is the "make my shield way better" button.
Ooh, more creative builds from one of my favorite ER players. I love all of these. A build with the dueling shield? Awesome. A build that doesn’t use buffs but takes advantage of ER’s crafting. Awesome. And of course, the Carian Fencer is my favorite build of all time. I was recently running a build that optimized the pulley crossbow and it’s a beast at building status effects and keeping pressure high. Rotbone bolts, bloodbone bolts or burred bolts absolutely shred Radahn. A lot of fun in coop.
I tried using the spell shield build very similarly on my mage character for my first DLC playthrough, it was a lot of fun. I like the Pearl Shield Talisman for certain flights to help with the chip damage, especially paired with scholars shield. Old Lord Talisman is also great for extending scholar shield duration.
About the carian fencer, I'd say it's a pretty good idea! I actually used my personal version of this build to do no hit Messmer, but the version you created is so much better, thx for the video!
just a heads up, the wakizashi gains a significant bonus to damage while powerstanced with a katana weapon in the main hand (doesn't work if the katana is in the offhand, or if you're dual-wielding two wakizashi). it roughly ends up doing the same damage as an offhand uchigatana and is capable of using the parry ash. the downside is it's a lot shorter.
A video with some Carian Sorcery Sword love 🎉🎉 My favorite DLC weapon by a mile!! I've also been recently pairing it with a right handed milady its a really fun play style with lots of versatility. I'll definitely give the main gauche another go 😂
You did not disappoint. I went with immutable shield for my build and wasn't sure why 10 seconds faded away so fast (shut up, it's a perfectly average time).
Spellshield is legit feels like a perfect build, I love builds that make use of Melania's rune. The only question I have is, why not use the guard boosting talisman?
I just prefer having more damage, I find the set up to be reliable as is, if you try it and you feel you need higher guard boost then using it is recommended for sure!
The Broadsword is such an underrated weapon. It’s my favorite looking basic sword too, idk there’s just something about how the blade looks I like. I like how it’s wide at the bottom and gets thinner at the top. (And I am a little bias because this is the main weapon of my characters in my story making me like it more) But it’s just a sword, I like it, it’s underrated, this is basically my characters build but replace square off with barbaric roar.
my only complaint with the broadsword is it doesn't have any thrusting attacks! look at that blade, fromsoft! this one should have MORE thrusting moves than other straight swords!
It’d be great if you made more of these, Sunlight Blade used to have “top ten builds” along with all sorts of other top tens. In retrospect they were pretty cringey lol, But overall I do really enjoy seeing fun and interesting builds so it’s great to have somewhere to find that. I’d love if you did some mix and match armor recommendations meeting both PVE and PVP poise breakpoints. Usually I aim to be above 51 by default and able to go to above 91 if I chuck on bullgoats.
@@Silver_Lloyd I'm glad you like these! This is the fifth one and more will be coming soon! As for the armor recommendations, I find it a bit too difficult to make builds that look good/thematically appropriate and also go past those breakpoints and I don't see myself taking them into consideration in the future either Though, I might make a dedicated episode for alternate outfits that meet those breakpoints if I'm able to get enough of them to be thematically accurate
Yeah putting together good looking armour that meets breakpoints can be a little tricky, imo they need to buff the Poise values for a lot of armour again. Usually gloves and headpieces contribute the least poise so you can try and hit 51 just by matching some leggings with a chest piece. Makes finding the other two parts more upto preference. I do have a bit of a habit of designing builds, Elden ring has me burnt out though so they’re mostly just sitting in a folder on my desktop.
@@barskabdagl7701 No reason, it works just as well! But I just wanted to play with the square off AoW, and I thought the broadsword would fit this more rough/gritty looking character. Greatswords work just as well for this build too, I especially like the Iron Greatsword
It doesn't consume FP, It's much faster at building up the consecutive attack talismans and you can actually get a riposte with it, giving you a 20% damage buff from the blade of mercy
Yeah, what the sorcery sword allows you to do that nothing else does is to do a parry focused strategy or a deflecting\guard counter focused strategy while still casting spells. No normal staff can riposte or guard counter so this is the only option for this. Also just the fact that it's a casting tool with the impaling thrust weapon art is super good since that's one of the best ashes in the game.
@@evanbaxter7356 That's not really a problem. You can quickly swap to Misericorde, perform the critical hit, and swap back. But the consecutive hit talisman build-up is valid.
I simply don't feel the need for them when I play with this build, so I use more offensive talismans, of course feel free to try it out and see what works best for you!
Good question! I thought about using it but I didn't because only half of our damage is physical (only physical damage counts as piercing damage) And so I chose the consecutive attack talismans instead, I haven't truly tested this though, depending on your playstyle, it could very well be that replacing one of these talismans with it will get better results overall! I'll be sure to test it and talk about it in the 9 builds compilation thanks to this comment though.
I just remembered something, the two handed sword talisman boosts ALL our damage by 15% so it is optimal to replace one of the consecutive attack talismans with it I still don't know whether you should replace the other consecutive attack talisman with the spear talisman or not

It’s nice to see you making a classic build, without the most used buffs in the game, and still be powerful and versatile
deflecting hardtear's the new PvE meta who needs spellbuffs
That moon taking out Radahns meteors was funny lol

I’ve been searching for a dope and different int build for awhile now and your Carian Fencer build is a godsend. Can’t wait to try this out!
Love the synergies on your Carian fencer. Its great to see more interesting builds than just op stuff.
That Carian fencer build looks fun enough that I might just run through Shadow of the Erdtree again with it
Me too, might make me learn parry windows too! 😅

Getting gaslit into getting good is hilarious.
In The carian spellshield build , you can use cragblade to stance break enemies easier, which will make you benefit more of the blade of mercy
True, but then you can't use scholar's shield, it's a trade-off between offense and defense!
Tbh I lean towards scholar's shield more
