For the longest time, I've had these ideas for new variations of the Bard class like a Culinary Bard or a Painter Bard or even a Bard that makes whatever they write down happen in real-time.
Since Druids can command spores, now; does this mean there are other versions of Bards available too?
The day this came out was the day I was building my first ever gastalt character, who was A hexblade warlock/Circle of spores Druid. Or as I like to call it, The Sporeblade
"The circle of life, the dead go on to nourish other life"
Wizard cast _disintegration...._
Spores Druid is one of my favorite Druid subclasses because its one of the only subclasses that actually utilizes plants. Like, seriously, why isn't there more utilization of plants in DnD?
Bad news… mushrooms aren’t plants
They’re natural in the forest, it’s close enough.
Probably because most plant life in DnD sucks
I believe that WotC addresses that very issue in the new 2024 PHB and has some pretty awesome ways for the druid to better utilize plants and mycology through nature magic.
One of my players had a cool concept for a character basically a earth genasi that had plants growing out of it making it look like a Trent and with some of my help with balancing moves that utilized the plants growing on his body
i made a spores druid that was either undead or a dhampir, who’s body was actually animated by mushrooms. they had armor made of mushrooms and pauldrons made of shelf mushrooms
There is such an armor in Divinity the Original Sin 2. The armor is sentient and is pretty powerful.
I’m playing around with the idea of a Warforged Circle of Spores Druid.
Abandoned and deactivated, it mysteriously “reactivated” after a long period of contact with fungus.
@@nexelray3207 hell yeah
Spore Druid + Monks Flurry of blows = Awesome
Yes! Currently playing a Tabaxi Monk was killed early on by a Shambling Mound. The Mound is inhabiting her body like a fungus. Current level split is Astral Self Monk 6/Spores Druid 2 and I'm loving it. The astral arms are vines and tendrils that grow around her arms.
@@madcat1865 that sounds so peak you should go watch bone wizard how to buff monk and spore druid if you want to make this combo even cooler and stronger
Not only that, but Stunning Strike sets you up directly for Halo of Spores. Insane.
@@troperhghar9898 + bone wizard buffed version of the monk and the spore druid= an actually good and viable multiclass option
I don't think I laughed harder in my life while hearing someone getting thrashed to death while the Gummi Bears theme played over thier screams of anguish and sheer terror.
So, a spores druid is basically a walking, talking offense to the geneva conventions
More like Geneva Suggestion
yes
Wow, my favorite content creator did my favorite subclass that I was talking about playing tonight. This is incredible also first.
You can't talk about spores druid without using the fun-guy joke, and YMBA didn't disappoint.
Gods I'm glad someone else remembers spore. Shit was the best back then and I wish they'd do something with it
I need a super passionate bunch of nerds to create a faithful but better spiritual successor to Spore because I wouldn't trust EA to do it right
I can see YMBA is on his Tulok the Barbrarian binge era from that fake ending
8:50 holy shit the Spore Druid is not messing around!
Did not expect a hellsing abridged reference.
I used to be called "Mushroom" aka Uncle Mushie in primary/grade school because of a really bad haircut that I let grow out.
From then on it was no more family trims.
So right now I'm having traumatic flashbacks without any chemical substances.
THIS IS MY FAVOURITE DRUID SUBCLASS OMG YESSS
9:24
My party actually did that to a lich once. I think we were able to force the failed saves through some mechanic, but we essentially had her stunlocked under a moonbeam and would have killed her (we destroyed her phylactery unknowingly some days prior in another dungeon), and only failed to do so because focus (and damage) was being split.
All turned out alright in the end. Capstone of the campaign we got her boss to summon her, the bard used friends to make her drop her guard and hand over the mcguffin we needed, and then we atomized her with six held actions.
Having 2 Oney plays videos in my recommended is what sold me on the short video gag
This reminded me of a spores druid that i wrote up once who became a druid after getting introduced to magic by a hag
MUSHROOOOOOOOOOMSSSSSS
THE SPORES THEY SPEAK TO MEEEE
Spores druid plus Oath of Ancients paladin is my favorite cross class. Makes for a very angry guardian of natural balance that looks really terrifying whirwinding a greatsword through the battlefield.
The Shepard Druid is definitely my favorite “You Might Be A” video to date, and it actually was the subclass i went with as it best fit the character i made for my friends campaign. So thank you for introducing me to that subclass😂
10:50 Correction, 80 temp hp every time you expend the wildshape feature (Which became an infinite number of times due to archdruid)
I have a character idea...
A warforged mushroom druid
"There was once a powerful adventurer named Daisy Earthstar. Daisy had always been fascinated by mushrooms. After her village was massacred, she fled into the woods and came across a cave, deciding to take shelter there. Over time, Daisy grew increasingly hungry, and berries and fruit were no longer enough to sustain her. Desperate for food, she found mushrooms and began consuming them without checking if they were poisonous. In her hunger, she ate Amanita phalloides, a very toxic fungus. Later that day, she became gravely ill. Just before she died, she was found by a group of myconids. They took her in and healed her. The myconids trained Daisy to become a mushroom druid. After years of training, Daisy became overwhelmingly powerful, and the myconids finally allowed her to reenter the world.
Daisy later came across a group of adventurers who were looking for a new party member. Daisy and the adventurers soon became well-known in their region. However, when they decided to take on a lich who was attempting to destroy the material plane, they may have bitten off more than they could chew. Most of the party were killed, but they were victorious in the end, or so they thought. The lich, barely holding onto life, released a huge burst of energy, destroying the lich and his phylactery. The remaining adventurers were wiped out, with Daisy barely surviving. An artificer later found Daisy and, in order to keep her alive, was forced to turn her into a warforged. After many months, Daisy was rebuilt as a warforged, though she had memory loss and could only remember the lich and being a mushroom druid. Daisy no longer had the immense power she once possessed and would need to relearn all her training."
I actually have a Spore Druid Swarmkeeper Ranger multiclass NPC in the campaign I'm running. She's 100% terrifying
That sounds dope ! What that multiclass do ?
Playing one currently, I love this subclass. Great flavor, and a nice alternative to the typical wild shaping druid.
Great work as usual!
I started watching you 3 weeks ago and I have watched most of ur vids now best idea I’ve made so fat
Please keep it up! this is amazing content.
"Mushroom mushroom, shut it, get back to work!"
Ah yes, the subclass that turns the Geneva Convention into a checklist.
And possibly the *hardest* character I played in recent times as a Lizardfolk druid infested with cordiceps-like thing.
One of my characters is a mushroom folk spores druid. I mainly use the extra necrotic damage and temp HP.
I love how you made this druid into a warforge from the looks of the image
Love these vids so much
Another amazing video. Keep it up.
This and monk are two things that have kinda captured my attention despite never having gotten to play DnD
Had a character idea of a bartender becoming an adventurer to earn the cash and find an amazing location to open up his own joint. In addition, being owned and operated by a powerful adventurer would ideally make the patrons feel safe but also keep them in line
This sounds like a super fun character; you should find a way to play him!!
For new players you can use homebrew animated mushroom familiar that can use dm dialogue (as nature speaking to the druid to help redirect if needed). Think of the mushroom from Black Clover anime.
Props to YMBA for getting me to want to play damm near every subclass in the game!
I was hoping you would make more videos about druids, but I didn't dare to ask. I swear, the shepherd and moon druid videos are the most hilarious on your channel
This actually sounds about on par with the shepherd druid the way you describe them both. This is totally a boss/mob subclass. Seems pretty fun.
finally! circle spores getting the attention it deserves!!
Love the Dunky reference.
"We are the Gummi Bears!" 😂
Seems like such a cool subclass but all of it hangs on not losing your temp hp. Still, fun video, love the gummi bears part. Thanks
Dude the spore game absolutely slapped and frankly thats terrifying
My fav creator and my fav druid. Whst a Friday it is
If I ever get around to playing DND with friends I wanna play a spores Druid, give them a weird trait like having them sneak out at night to plant/ spread some magic hive mind fungus as they travel on their adventures.
Love the use of the Tulok videos, but surprised you didn't use one of his Spore Druid videos in the collage (least, if memory serves, none of those have any Spore Druid)
Search for Tulok's Poison Ivy video. It was one of his first. For a while, he considered that his most powerful build.
Right on time
I love Hellsing Ultimate Abridged soo much❤
Instant laugh for me
A full caster with 40 temp HP at level 10? It's incredible.
YEEESSSSS MY FAVORITE DRUID
Decay exists as an extant form of life
I'm playing a moon druid in my 3rd ever pen and paper campaign but if I end up liking roleplaying as a druid then I definitely want to create a spores druid character after that. I like the idea of working in that one concept in Annihilation where a soldier is plastered into a wall of mutant fungus because of aliens screwing with their chromosomes or something
Played a brewer spore druid that didn’t even go for the Undead angle, and wound up being the party’s frontline fighter
If I was DMing, you will have vulnerability to fire damage with your fungal abilities and allies. Of if you were resistant, it will normal damage. Oh, and yes, you are liable to get a fireball happy Necromancer as either a rival or nemesis who wants to preserve bodies' pristine states.
Man like the vídeo Just cuz i lpve that Spore prank 😂😂
I like this
These videos slap 😂
was that donkey at the beginning hahaha
I’m surprised that there was no NADDPOD reference. Moonshine was a spores Druid with a 1 or 2 level dip in barbarian but she was using UA rules for the spore Druid.
YESSSS!!!!
I’m disappointed there wasn’t a DJ Moldy Cheese reference.
Wildshape into the bear from "Annihilation"
Wait, if class abilities carry over to wild shape does that mean you can go into spore mode then turn into an eagle and just drop stink bombs without ever taking damage?
spore mentioned!!!!!!
yes my fav
Please do way of the long death
LET’S GO
Hey I voted for this one!
I just realized that wildfire and spore driuds have the exact same goals and purpose
MUSHROOMS!!!
1:51 LMFAO
....I googled zombie butts. I blame you entirely.
So I’ve always thought this subclass seemed awesome, even though I haven’t gotten the chance to play it yet, but wouldn’t your Symbiotic Entity ending after you lose the Temp HP be problematic at early levels?
For the fans of the last of Us and Mario this is your Subclass!
"Don't Google zombie buts"
Ok Tina
What is a Gish?
I’ll also play this on the next chance I’ll get now.
do you have sources for any of the artwork? they're so cool...
Mushroom!
Can You Add The Wildcard Rouge
Nujabes opener at the end of this round please and thank you
Halo of spores is an AoE that hits Everyone inside or with "anyone" they mean one out of many in the range?
Halo of Spores: "When a creature you can see moves into a space within 10 feet of you, or starts its turn there, you can use your Reaction to deal 1d4 Necrotic damage..."
You only get one Reaction per turn, so Halo of Spores can only target 1 creature with your reaction.
@@WolfHreda yeah, but if I get surrounded and there is the next round, my next reaction activates on all of them since they are already all in the area? If it's not a real AOE spore druid fucking suck.
I love the circle of spores, but I'm pretty sure halo of spores is the saddest attack in DnD.
1d4 IF they fail a con save that grows into a worse primal savegry/fire bolt.
Oathbreaker Paladin pls
Be a Topaz Gem Dragonborn become a regular alligator 🐊 or crocodile 🐊 add Mushrooms🍄 to your new form. Sprout wings and fly breathing necrotic death from above.
Actually at level 20 that's 80HP♾️ x day.
I feel like a Myconid Spores Druid makes only TOO much sense.
Mush
3:15 Primal Furry huh?
Lmao oneyplays comp
if bane is not a barbarian wth is he
Go watch bone wizard buffing the spore druid
I actually don’t like the spore Druid as it always feels like the undead are never used that much and it focuses on more martial traits rather than undead summons which is what I prefer out of mushrooms. How the aesthetic is on point can’t complain
I'll admit, something feels a bit hypocritical about Spore Druids appointing themselves as arbiters of life and death when it comes to those looking to avoid their natural end considering that they get access to spells for reviving the dead and the main druid class has a feature that lets them theoretically extend their lifespan by several millennia past what it would naturally be depending on their race.
"80 temp hp 2x per short rest at level 20"
Bruh, did you forget what you just said? Level 20 means unlimited wildshapes. So you can re up the temp hp every round if you want
Baaka
yeah I love the spores BUT MAN do I hate the design logic of Symbiotic Entity with a passion
you deal a d6 extra damage on melee hits.........no extra attack feature to make use it tho
you get temp HP but since you benefits for being in melee are depended on not actually losing it you really only have 4*level HP before being a normal druid again.
you get not extra AC or movement bonus to help you be a melee fighter unlike say Bladesinger or swords bard.
like it's a feature makes you want to play a Astral Self monk with a two level spores dip instead of the subclass it's in.
So for all intents and purposes, pretty much any and all Druid subclasses are busted as hell.
ungishable.
using an action to activate 4hp/lv on a class with AC of 16 is useless. just cast your spells bro.
