- Meet Shar Pei! He was a former Ghost Shadow in 1984 who was also a member of a Hong Kong Triad. During his time in New York, he was apart of the Mott Street faction. This interview covers his life pre New York, time spent in Chinatown/ Hong Kong, battling drug addiction, & finding God.

I watched the whole video of Shar Pei and it is so refreshing to see how he turned his life around. I also liked the fact that he did not do a bragging session and he explained what his gang life was about. He did not blame others for his addiction and he did something about it and the best thing is that religion played a big part for him and he will help others who are struggling with the same problem!

As Shar Pei involved with gangs, drug addiction, prison time, found Jesus Christ, now looking to help others, I want to explore what were the Churches and Chinese elders doing for Chinese youths in Chinatown during the 80’s? Were there no one like Shar Pei now as an older and wiser gentleman looking out for the Chinese youth back then? Or is that youth just rebellious no matter a particular period? We have many Americans movies glorifying Iranian gangster life, Hong Kong movies glorifying Triad gangster life. But then I watch these TH-cam videos tracing back the history of Triad which was fight against the oppression from Qing Dynasty and the liberation of Chinese people. So is there really a set path to a so called “correct” life? Or people end up the way they are were due to the circumstance. During the Opium wars, did Chinese people made a conscious choice to smoke opium? Or is the British Christian Empire forced Opium upon Chinese in the name of free trade, religious freedom, civilization? Any refusal would be followed up with a war declaration?
I appreciate you bringing these to our attention. I'm trying to learn how to help someone with drug addiction. If you're a Christian, please remember this in your prayers, thanks.

I am just exploring if praying to God can help someone quit smoking, is it also possible praying to God/Devil, a non smoker can suddenly wake up one day and have a strong urge to smoke.

If praying to God can help people nowadays quit drug addiction, it’s reasonable to assume during the time of the Opium Wars, some people prayed to God also helped with their drug addiction. However, with British selling more and more Opium to China, and most of British were Christians, more and more Chinese people got addicted to Opium, Qing Dynasty was resisting British selling Opium and lost the war stopping British selling Opium, what role did God played in all this? Watching more Chinese people got addicted to Opium? Watching British selling more Opium?
Also, if you believe in Jesus Christ, then you have to believe the stories in the Bible. One of the stories is that the Devil spoke to Jesus. Seems to me, if you believe in Jesus Christ, you also have to believe in the existence of the Devil.
Often in movie scenes, on someone’s shoulder sits an angel from Heaven on one side, the other side sits an angel from Hell. These angels always talking opposite ideas. It all sounds like a person is hallucinating, hearing voices and living in a bipolar world created by their belief system.
@@shubinzhu7107 According to the Bible, there is no doubt that Satan exists. Additionally, God, being merciful, would not turn a non-smoker into a smoker.
Since you are very interested in God, which is a good thing. I suggest you go to church to learn more about Him. I would also like to share this scripture with you from the book of Matthew 7:7, "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."
