Some notes about this video: 1. It's quite difficult to roll around in the water. I did try laying on my front at the end, as an experiment, but I just rolled around on my back again. 2. You can get out and back in at any time and the lights come on in the main room (movement sensors). 2. I wanted to explain more of the benefits of float therapy, as there are some clinical trials happening right now that have remarkable results. But at the same time, I wanted to share my relaxation experience with you and not reel off a long list. Here are some of the benefits that have been found in studies: - Decrease blood pressure, heart rate and cortisol levels - Reduce aches and pains, such as tension headaches and chronic muscle pain - Anxiety and PTSD - Calm and soothe the nervous system There are some great articles and videos online - look out for Dr Justin Feinstein. Then there are the benefits of Epsom salts, magnesium sulphate - the magnesium is absorbed through the skin which is said to help relax the body and muscles., but there is currently no medical studies to back this up.
That is what happens when you float in the dead sea and try to flip over onto your front. It whips you round onto your back again and there's nothing you can do about it. I tried to swim just a few strokes front crawl but it is impossible.
@@LauraTryUK Get it on your bucket list, you won't regret it. Apparently, it is the lowest point on earth, something like 420 metres below sea level which is about 1400 feet.
It’s pretty amazing alright. The water feels weird as there’s so much salt. Very slippery, almost oily. Where I was, there’s black mud on the shore that you can massage on your skin too
I've done almost 200 floats now, love it in complete darkness with no sound at all, you can hear your eyes blink, I get into a rhythmic mediative breathing and just let my mind wonder wherever it will go, once I get to that Theta stage, my body is so relaxed that my muscles and joints spasm from the gravity off of my body. My brain feels like it's had all the white noise washed clean from it and afterwards I feel so focused
I did one a while ago on the last day of a break away. I only had an hour and it didn't really feel like it was long enough. I spent the whole time meditating and left feeling sooo relaxed... but then I had to drive 3 hours home which pretty much ruined the day. 🤦😂
I can see how an hour isn't long enough - it takes about 20 minutes to get in the swing of it, then suddenly it would be over. And yes, totally get the transport home bit - I walked out the place into busy London! But made sure to stay in try relaxation for an hour after so I could continue with the chill vibes.
I’ve done a couple of floats here in Melbourne and found it really relaxing. The most remarkable thing for me was losing the sense of where my body ended, it felt like I just kind of melted into the water and was one with it. This really makes me want to do it again!
Where I live in Germany we have heated salt 'lakes' at the public spas where you can float completely, though without the sensory deprivation. It's included in the price of entry so you can combine with the saunas and hydrotherapy pools for pretty good value for money, it's usually around 30eur for the full day there. It's so relaxing, though I would love to try the sensory deprivation one at some point.
I love floating. It’s worth trying a more spacious float room. Worth trying a 3 hour float. Some people have done all night float, sleep in it. !! I heard my eye balls move. If I come into a fortune I’m having one in my house. Thanks Laura.
I love these kinds of videos Laura. Great watch. The whole time I was worried that talking would ruin the experience for you but I hope it was still a wonderful 2 hours. I went to one of these in Florida about 10 years ago and I actually fell asleep. I was playing the Beatles song over and over in my mind, Tomorrow Never Knows. Turn off your mind, relax, and float downstream. It is believing, it is believing. Lay down all thoughts surrender to the void, it is knowing, it is knowing ....... etc, etc. Before long, I was completely gone and an assistant had to come and lift the lid on the pod. I've never felt so relaxed in my life. I highly recommend it.
oh wow! What a story! How awesome! The assistant lifting the lid made me laugh - you must have been well gone 😴 Imagine how rejuvenating that was for you.

I have thought about trying this, letting my imagination move through the universe or perhaps reclaim memories from my youngest years or just the therapy of relaxation slowing my heart and breathing rates in a deep soothing meditation. Thanks Laura ! :)
I have gone to a float spa for about 6 years, it took me a few times to figure out how to float best. I would have my best floats mid day. To early and I couldn't shut off my thoughts, to late and I would have a hard time falling asleep. I slept many times during a float which unfortunately makes it seem to go to fast. And yes hallucinations, mostly random sounds and colors. It played a big part in destressing my body and mind. Give it another try to compare experiences.
Thanks for sharing your experience Michael - I like the tip about the midday float. I will try it again without cameras and filming and look forward to the experience.
Trying a float session has been on my to-do list for ages. There is a local place that I found, so I really have little excuse not to - except I'm not sure I want to be stuck in a little pod with only my own, weird little brain for company 🤣 Glad that your experience was positive.
Often it is not so much what happens in the tank but more how you feel the following days. Deep sleep, vivid dreams and higher energy levels. Some people get a little emotional when fisrt relaxing in the tank, that is ok its just the mind finally letting go and having a breather from the day to day stresses. Great summary Laura, how did you feel the follwoing days.
After my 3rd session I could relax much quicker and "switch off" from the World much faster. I have also downloaded a one hour soundtrack ( 420hz music) into a waterproof headphone... It was another level experience. The deep relaxation feeling was similar to a "Hypnosis session". The noises you heard was water dripping from the ceiling.

Having just watched your race across the Atlantic, I was recommended this video - looked really interesting so thanks for sharing, will have to try it some time. Oh, and congrats on the win too - fantastic achievement and life expereince!
I went to one once. Loved it. So relaxing and felt like it wasn't long enough. The water could have been warmer. Once I reached the body temperature with the water I started to get cold. I'd loved to go again but longer than an hour with warmer water. And I'd like to do it at least once a month until I de-stress. So much stressing I'm going through right now. Can't work, can't work, using a walker, needing 2 knee replacements. Feeling like my life is over at 58. 😢
I've been encouraged to float for quite some time. There are a few places near me too. I just have to commit to going one of these days and Try it out.
I did this today, but mine wasn't the white pod. It was a metal room with a steel door, and no lights or sound. It was fun to float, but my mind was too alert and I was bored. I stayed in for the entire hour though. My arm muscles got sore and had to move them around a lot. I could have sworn I heard footsteps of someone pacing lol.
Great video! They have quite a few of these around Melbourne. I’ve done it twice for 1 hour each time. The first time was hard to get into it but then after awhile I had such a deeply relaxing experience and felt so great afterwards. The second time I did it I actually ended up getting motion sickness from the gentle rocking and so then it felt like an inescapable hell 😂 I nearly left the tank early and found it really off putting. Such a shame because I’ve had a taste of how great it can be. I wouldn’t do it again in case I get the same response. Still an interesting experience though and most people love it and don’t experience nausea.
@@LauraTryUK to be 'out of the moment' so in this case like an out of body experience and more hallucinations. I'd love to try it. Also fancy an anechoic chamber some time.
@@MrWylis Thanks for explaining. I hoped for more dissociation but perhaps the cameras stopped that. Will try again. Had to google anechoic chamber - I have it on the list already! Found a place in the UK. Not sure how my tinnitus will cope 🤪
I do this all the time. No weird experiences for me other than fantastic relaxation. You are not supposed to wear any clothing at all. Yes. It’s private.
Wow. That was an interesting experience. I wonder why your arms ended up over your head? I also wonder how it would be for those of us with arthritis. Finding a position in a bed that doesn't cause at least some pain is a problem. Also a great way to avoid the occasional cat sleeping on my head.
I wonderded the same Kevin as I don't sleep like that, but it was the most comfortable position - sooooooooooooo comfortable! I would expect that being in the water the body finds the perfect position, but it's only a guess.
Merry Christmas....sorry Laura I know I have disturbed you for a long time, but what can I do? They are sincere feelings and words that come out of the heart that cannot be controlled. It is true love. I enjoy watching your vlogs. You are a professional.....💖💖👍😍🌹👨❤👨💍💍💍💝💘
When i float the ''Neuro light show'' stops and starts. More nebulous and random in shape and form. The entering of the ''Theta state'' is the most productive of these sequences. Colours tend to be of a purple ( no other colours whilst there is purple ) being cloud like in shape or they illuminate the whole of the pod's ceiling. Other colours tend to be more vibrant and neon light. These tend to have more intricate detail and structure. After the session is over there is a four hour ''Buzz '' or ''High'' An almost ''Post Coitus Neuro copulation'' ( if any of this makes sense ? ) Anyway enjoy your own float and thanks for listening...
Great video! Took me back 50 years. I built one out o9f a big chest type freezer. People thought me crazy at the time. Well, guess that part hasn't changed much. Peop-le were afraid to9 do it though. And as addicted as people are to phones now, don't know if many would enjoy it. Noticed you belly breathing. Don't know if it was natural for me then.
I did one of these pods once. It was awesome until I got salt water in my eyes half way through. There was only a cloth there to wipe my eyes with so eyes continued to burn until I could get out and rinse them. I would still recommend the pods though!
Was gonna ask the same question. For me yoga nidra, as another form of NSDR, can give me a kind of floating sensation. Practice is key, so maybe a daily yoga nidra session and once in a while a floating tank session is a good combination?
I don't know what to say, how strange. I don't know if I would try it or not, I got mixed feelings about it. 🤔Looks trippy to me. Yeah very interesting video Laura.
Thank you for putting a note saying you paid for the service and it was not an ad. Separation between content and advert is not paid enough attention to.
I tried it once in a room vs. a capsule, and I couldn't do it, as I began to feel claustrophobic. I had to keep the door slightly open, which, to be honest, took away its full benefits. It seemed like such a nice idea but didn't work for me.
Did it once, couldn't feel anything special and was very aware of the tank, maybe because I'm somewhat tall. Perhaps with more time, since I've done only one hour
@@LauraTryUK No, not really, just aware of it, maybe it was claustrophobia? Probably some anxiety pre-thing. I also had an appointment right after and had had one just before, so, bad planning. 😂
I might be in the minority, here, but I tried a few floats (in a tank exactly like this one). I wanted to love it. I gave it several goes. Every time, though… I hated it, just a little bit more.
Wow Laura this looks so cool! Interesting the sensation of the water being solid and the embryos 😂 I noticed how you were diaphragm breathing during it too - is that normal for you or did the relaxation help with it? I’d love to give this a go, my only concern is I’d fall asleep and ingest water!
This is something Ive wanted to try for sometime, so thanks for giving it a test run! Do you think you could fall asleep in there? Looks so relaxing, Im sure I could nod off haha Im really interested in these deeper. more spiritual experiences you said others have felt in there but wonder if there were other factors involved.
I’m here watching because my first float is in 1.5 hours. I keep going around in circles wondering if I should guide the experience or just let it happen. I’m not usually one to ‘let things happen’
I blacked out a room and wore a mask and stayed in it for 7 days. Near the end of the third day, I started seeing flashes, and for the rest of the time, I saw all kinds of things, on a continuous, ongoing basis. On the sixth day, for instance, I saw a flower made of bright white light, and another in the distance -- just one of many many things I saw. Being awake, being asleep, dreaming, resting, all kinds of states, -- I never felt more rested, and for so long. I always saw light, and starting the third day, there were bright white lights, whether my eyes were open or closed. If you are wanting to see light, I highly recommend holing up in darkness for at least 5 days. Just: 1. Go into darkness, 2. Wait several days, 3. Look around. Nothing more complicated than that. Have friends bring you food and work out a system for going to the bathroom without being exposed to light.
My wonderful experience of floating with the stars. Soft music playing, weightlessness of my spirit and body, no pain just a big smile on my face. This was what happened my third time while incased in the total darkness of outer space inside a double tank. I have been through a tunnel experiencing the planets and stars for 20 years now thanks to my adventures of floating in perfect peace. Try it at least three times before your personal experience kicks in.
I’ve done it and one of the times felt claustrophobic and a bit suffocaty so kept the lid up. Also my boobs felt cold floating up to the surface and I also felt sea sick! But my partner loves them.
Do you ever look good after you finished your soak. The relaxation must go right to your bones. There was something about you after your soak- I thought. "I've seen women like her before. Where have I seen that?" Farm women. Women who ski. Independent women. Women who know themselves, have worked hard, have earned their place, owe others nothing, feel comfortable in their skin, need nothing from others, not reassurance, not compliments, not feedback, they have accumulated something for which I don't have a word for. Whatever it is, it's an admirable quality. It's the first time I've noticed it in any video on TH-cam, that quality. Around here I think ranch women have that whatever-it-is, they have worked on the ranch all their lives, know the ranch and cattle people, raised their kids on it, and have earned this- thing, whatever it is- that they wear like an invisible talisman, they are imbued with it, soaked in it, immersed in it. Anyway. That's what occurred to me seeing the after pictures- video, rather. Not bad for a two-hour soak.
wow! Now there's a comment I didn't expect! I will say also, that this kind video is the topic and style I have thought about for some time and it feels natural to me so maybe you saw that too.
I did this in Summer. Really interesting but wasn’t completely mentally relaxed. I could hear faint echos and movement outside room which made me paranoid and so couldn’t switch off. Though I was a little hungover which defeats the object, didn’t hallucinate though 😂
I would love to try this but would be afraid I would have a panic attack. The way my monkey mind is ALWAYS on the go I don’t know if I could cope with 2 hrs.
That is A LOT of salt! It takes me 10-12 baths to use up 4kg of Epsom salt and you had 100x that in the pod. Isn't that extremely irritating for the skin?

That looks so cool. I'd be game to try it. Googling now if theres any in my area. 🏊♀
AWESOME!!! If you go, please come back here and let me know how you get on.
Interesting video. I would not do that but still it is something I wondered about.
I’ve done it once in London, it was great. I should try doing it once a month - I can’t afford it more often, unfortunately
That is such a shame about the motion sickness Erin - I hadn't even thought about that.
I get sighs of relief sometimes in the real non flotation world, my wife always asks what’s up, and I’m like “nothing, it just feels good to sigh!” 🙂
I've learned recently that a good yawn or sigh is how the vagal nerve settles!
I knew about this "technique" for a long time. But after watching this i am going to book a sesh. I really need some rest.
it. is. so. lush!
Great video…. Very well done. Time to find a place like this in Ohio …. Thanks for showing in The tank. Now I know what to expect….
Rocky River, OH
Canton, Ohio
Intresting video Laura may give it a try if I can find one close to me Thanks UK
Looks class, LTee.
Would definitely try..
Think I might dissociate more than you did, lol.
what does dissociate mean MrW?
@@LauraTryUK to be 'out of the moment' so in this case like an out of body experience and more hallucinations. I'd love to try it. Also fancy an anechoic chamber some time.
@@MrWylis Thanks for explaining.
I hoped for more dissociation but perhaps the cameras stopped that. Will try again.
Had to google anechoic chamber - I have it on the list already! Found a place in the UK.
Not sure how my tinnitus will cope 🤪
@@LauraTryUK I expect it would be rough on the tinnitus. Have a look into the tapping on/around the ears, first.
I do this all the time. No weird experiences for me other than fantastic relaxation.
You are not supposed to wear any clothing at all. Yes. It’s private.
Hmm... I'm going to try this I think. TY
It's bliss - let me know how you get on please.
@@LauraTryUK I will. I'm a little nervous in my late forties here. I used to be so fearless lol
@@danieln6356 You've still got in you for sure - it's just a little bit hidden 💪
After the session is over there is a four hour ''Buzz '' or ''High'' An almost ''Post Coitus Neuro copulation'' ( if any of this makes sense ? )
Anyway enjoy your own float and thanks for listening...
Crikey - you built one yourself. That's next level!
this sounds amazing! how much salt did you use for it?
The amount will depend on your weight. Add and stirr un til you float@@MederiWellness
Mamma mia , you really transmit the relaxing idea, wow i would like to try it as well .......... i do not know if there is it in italy....
I did one of these pods once. It was awesome until I got salt water in my eyes half way through. There was only a cloth there to wipe my eyes with so eyes continued to burn until I could get out and rinse them. I would still recommend the pods though!
a shame about the salt water in the eyes.
Would you go again and try?
@@LauraTryUK For sure!
Great vid, I've want to try this. Have you tried yoga nidra?
Hey Larry, I've only tried yoga Nidra on an app - does that count?
Was gonna ask the same question. For me yoga nidra, as another form of NSDR, can give me a kind of floating sensation. Practice is key, so maybe a daily yoga nidra session and once in a while a floating tank session is a good combination?
@@mholscher I think this is something I will look into further, thank you.
@@LauraTryUK it's the only experience I have with yoga nidra as well
@@mholscher Yes, I agree with the floating sensation.
Its $59 bucks per hr., just outside of Boston tooo..,.,
I don't know what to say, how strange. I don't know if I would try it or not, I got mixed feelings about it. 🤔Looks trippy to me. Yeah very interesting video Laura.
Thank you for putting a note saying you paid for the service and it was not an ad. Separation between content and advert is not paid enough attention to.
thanks for noticing that Will. I pay for most of the stuff I do - it feels better for me.
Did you keep knocking into the side of the tank Adriano?
Yes, perhaps a longer session will allow you to relax more.
Interesting the sensation of the water being solid and the embryos 😂
I noticed how you were diaphragm breathing during it too - is that normal for you or did the relaxation help with it? I’d love to give this a go, my only concern is I’d fall asleep and ingest water!
I think I am a natural belly breathing is natural Anna - think I learned a while back can't really remember. Perhaps it comes from yoga.
I am certain one could fall asleep in there - I am sure I did but can't be sure.
I do have friends who do it though and say they fall asleep.
😂Sounds like a great experiment/experience. Glad you enjoyed it
Wow 😯
Is there any air circulation that brings clean air into the pod? I am concerned about the buildup of CO2.
I am not sure - a good thought... but it felt ok. More than ok.
p.s. i did watch this in my bathtub 🛁😆
Before you mentioned it, I did think it was rather like going back into the womb. :)
I want to try this one day, in fact I wish I could try this daily. My imagine that it is very profound, like being in a womb.
I’ve done it and one of the times felt claustrophobic and a bit suffocaty so kept the lid up. Also my boobs felt cold floating up to the surface and I also felt sea sick! But my partner loves them.
I'm 6ft 3 would I fit in!?
@1:47 LOL a bo'oh' o' wo'er
The price isn't that bad. I thought it would be a lot more expensive honestly, like in the thousands! 👍
What if your closterfobic?
@@LauraTryUK Maybe. Or it could be the eggnog. :)
I have a question LT - were you at any moment scared? I don’t know why but I think I would be quite scared , is that odd?
I did this in Summer. Really interesting but wasn’t completely mentally relaxed. I could hear faint echos and movement outside room which made me paranoid and so couldn’t switch off. Though I was a little hungover which defeats the object, didn’t hallucinate though 😂
hahahaha, the hangover bit did make me laugh. I can't imagine what that would be like.
A shame about the noises outside the room too.
Isn't that extremely irritating for the skin?
i got panick attack just watching you closing that lid.
Would you say your spirit left your body? Did you explore the universe and meet other beings?
Do you have to wear a swimsuit, or are you allowed to float naked?
Maybe this is where NASA got the idea of the pretending of the moonlanding 😅
Sounds like a nightmare
hahahaha, yes, to some I expect it does.
*_Altered States Of Laura_*
You have watched the movie called
"Altered States"... right?
It helped me feel relaxed af, until your head starts to fall back and the water gets into your eyes.
Unfortunately with all my trauma, it would be hell
😞 good that you recognise it's not for you 💖
OMG Never In Life
I would have fallen asleep and drown.🫣
I do hope not!
i did try and float on my stomach but it was extremely hard and just rolled on my back again. Reassuring.
@@LauraTryUK Yeah it is better to drown on your back.
@@Mybody4life oh dear.... 🤪
