Can't believe they didn't mention one of the most obvious reasons. Insanity helps you build muscle really fast and muscle weights much more than fat. From my first to my 3rd week I actually gained 3kg, but I was actually super excited cause I knew all of it was muscle, since I lost many inches too and my clothes were much more loose. Scale is the last thing you want as a reference, I only weight myself when I go to the doctor every six months, the rest of the time I just check my energy levels and how I'm performing during the day and my workouts :)

get a scale that sends an ecg. I have one and it does WONDERS. It told me i lost 3 lbs but gain 2 lbs of muscle. It can actually tell you your body's full muscle weight, as well as fatless body weight. basically you can trim down to that min weight and you will be ripped. Cant go lower. Try it out
I've lost 10 lbs. in the first month of Insanity. I've been eating healthy and I feel so much better. Love this program, though it is tough, but man does it work.
I'm glad I came across this vid &comments. I am not doing Insanity but I'm working out hard and seeing little progression in the weight loss area. I know I'm not alone, gotta keep pushing. Thanks people!

I haven't lost weight after month 1, but I am seeing VISUAL results on my body, my muscles are harder and more defined, less fat around my thighs. I think month 2 will really kick the fat.
cassandra5322 that is what it's all about! The visual results are what count, and you are right, after that cortisol goes down, good things will happen! Keep me posted on your journey!
***** Hey Bob, sorry to hijack this post (hopefully you'll see it this way). I've started week three of insanity today but have not noticed my stomach getting smaller. It still sticks out and looks like I drink a lot of beer; I've also cut down on a lot of the bad stuff I've been eating, and am cutting down even more. Is this just a thing that takes time? I really want a flat stomach but it seems impossible to achieve. On the other hand, I am noticing tone and muscle build everywhere else, it's great!
14Schofield I have some exciting news to share with you!!! Based on everything you said, the toning everywhere else, the belly, etc: you are heading down the right path!! So definitely don't give up and keep pushing forward. The worst part is, and I discovered this awhile back and wasn't happy to hear it....but: the belly fat is the absolute LAST thing to shrink. Your body naturally burns fat from everywhere else first (arms, neck, back, thighs, etc). Then, finally after hard work and staying committed to that clean diet, it will start reducing the belly fat. So definitely keep it up and you'll start seeing it also disappear!
***** Thanks a lot man. I was actually talking about this with my mom today, she said that belly fat is typically the last thing to get burned off. I've noticed a bit of toning in the stomach, but it still sticks out - and I've got lovehandles now, which I guess is a good sign. I guess when I started working out and eating healthy I was hoping my stomach would go first, because sucking in my gut whenever I enter the public domain gets really exhausting after a while. :P Thanks again!
When I first started I actrully went to a nutritionist because I want losing weight or so I thought I was actrully gaining muscle. Then stated to use measurements rather then using a scale.
I lost 30 pounds in a month and a half on insanity. I ate kashi heart to heart cereal for bfast every morning before my workout an apple and peanut butter for snack..half a sandwich for lunch with salad or chips and then whatever my mom made for dinner but half what i usually eat plus a huge salad with homeade salad dressing. If youre not losing weight with this workout you need to make sure youre eating the right things throughout the day.
Liz Ross way to go Liz!!! Definitely the improvement in the fit test is a big deal, and means your body is starting to improve and your endurance is getting better. Keep rocking it!
Insanity done. Did it for two months, 63 days : DONE. I ate clean, did all the workouts.. pushed myself to my limits. Day 1 : 195 lbs. Day 63 : 194 lbs. I'm almost crying now. I dont have motivation anymore. I followed the diet plan, I worked my ass off, I did EVERYTHING I could have done, and my results are more than small. I give up.
+Romain Casanova don't give up - check around my channel and you'll see that I have some times where I had mediocre results, and sometimes I had better results. If you did everything straight and to the T, and never skipped workouts, did you drink enough water? Funny enough water and sleep are the last two things that if ignored can rip apart the goals, but when you get a good consistent sleep and good enough of water (1 gallon per day thru the whole day), it can help a bunch.
I think Insanity target people who really are really overweight and dont do sport often... This is why you see all these miraculous loss in such a short time. Just like you i didnt have any result with Insanity, and im also around 195 lbs, doing a diet, counting calories etc... but i was already regular with cardio ( running ) which i was doing everyday minus the weekend.
That is the most important thing because numbers don't flash when you look at yourself in the mirror. People obsess over numbers on the scale and not concentrate on the numbers with respect to their shirts and pants and how they fit them. Insanity did a great job taking off the inches and that was the most important thing for me. I didn't have a strict diet or anything like that, just cut down on breads, watched my portions, and let the workouts work its magic by giving my all. Great vid.
What an awesome video. I'm on my last day of month one. Only 5lbs lost, but I've gone from a size 11/12 to a size 8! I feel amazing and strong so the scale isn't my first concern. The scale didn't budge the first three weeks and it was a little disheartening, BUT my endurance throughout the workout and my attitude has kept me going. I know by the end I'm going to look amazing and feel even better. If you haven't tried Insanity, please do. It's awesome and I couldn't be happier right now.
I am on week seven...I am 5'5" following the meal plan, working out so hard I can ring my shirt out and it drops sweat. My starting weight was 143lbs. I am on week 7 and I now weigh 145lb. So incredibly discouraged I could cry. Maybe I dodnt do this for the right reasons. I was in a severely abusive relationship and decided I would release all that stress and past pain into this workout....to gain weight and see no results feels like such a slap in the face ...ugh.
Muscle weighs a lot more than fat, so it’s totally possible that you were gaining muscle as you were losing fat, which would make you weigh more. Keep going and hope the second round goes well
Take measurements, the scales are a fraud! If ur clothes are looser, then your losing fat and keeping muscle, count calories 1500 if u want to lose weight
Middle of week 4 of Insanity - started out 245 lbs, now at 233 lbs (I'm 6'3"). Strict keto diet with cheat day every other week. Feel great. Besides the fit test, I measure how many more pushups I can do toward the end of the workouts (more upper body workouts toward the end of the videos) and am seeing great results. When I take a break, I notice now it is due to muscle fatigue more than being out of breath like it was in the beginning. On days I really don't want to workout, I just hit play and eventually I start getting after it. Just keep hitting that play button NO MATTER WHAT. I have heard month 2 is even more of a beast and I am oddly looking forward to seeing what I am made of, LETS GOO
I lost a total of 10lbs the first month, then 6 more the following month. I was definitely more hungry, and eating a bit more. So the second month was a bit more stagnant. 173lbs to 157lbs 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻 I’m don’t asylum now, hoping to loose 16 more to reach my goal!
@Borret Siwel, I'm not sure what you mean by your heart beating funny exactly (fluttering, slower or faster than you anticipate?), but you might want to check with the Doctor if something is concerning for sure. Definitely want to aim at continuing to get those great results you've gotten so far without getting hurt/injured. Thanks!
You don't need to do the nutrition plan. I lost 20 pounds on Insanity eating whatever I wanted a few years back. I just counted calories so I was always at a calorie deficit. Your body might know the difference in good calories and bad calories in terms of your overall health and how you feel, but it definitely doesn't know the difference when it comes to losing weight.
@@stevenalderley9036 This makes a lot of sense, mate. I've heard a lot of PT's advocating that very approach - that you can eat whatever you want to long as you record it and don't go above your max weekly calories (they don't even suggest daily amounts, which I guess makes sense as in theory some days you'll need more calories, for example on a heavy lifting strength/hypertrophy day)
I honestly don’t understand how anyone can’t lose weight on insanity ! As long as you follow the healthy eating tips your going to lose ! Either you aren’t eating enough or your eating way to much bad food
I'm on the first week of month two. I've only lost 1kg and a few inches all around (i don't really have a lot of weight to lose), but my fit test results have been amazingggg. So i guess i'll just have to be patient.
Keep in mind that the fit cast members in the videos and Shaun T have been doing these sets of hard intensity cardio workout for months let alone years and obviously they are used to it for the most part (and of course here and there you see some of them pause or tire out in the workout vids). I’d say keep consistency. If needed be, maybe do the whole program twice or for an entire year and of course keep consistent and you obviously will get the results you dreamed of. At least if you don’t see as much results, you should feel like you’re getting better, stronger, less sore, less wiped out on certain exercises (maybe you might’ve mastered some) and your body will change of course. I’d say even if you’re doing the workout slow, as long as you have the correct form and are drinking enough water, eating a balanced meal, and snacking here and in between meals as well as keep moving (even go for a walk in the park can help), you will see results but of course not right away.
when I started I did not loose any pounds for one month but I lost lots of centimeters around my waist, arms chest, and I realized I had no muscles left after having 4 kids in 6 1/2 years. so my muscle percentage went up and body fat percentage went down stuck at 184 pounds the whole time but I am confident the weight will chang soon !
Hi Bob, this video has been such a blessing. As a college dancer I've been off the stage for quite some time and have gained over 20 pounds since. I've also started insanity almost 4 weeks ago and am hoping to get rid of my out of shape "buff" look and transform back into the lean (but more shredded) performing artist I once was. Any tips?
That's great to hear Jermaine Dickerson! I would say that the biggest thing is the clean eating and hitting the elite nutrition plan to a T. The people that track it all through something like MyFitnessPal tend to find the best results when it comes down to reducing body fat and getting those results you deseve. Keep me posted on your progress!
I wish he had mentioned the possibility of losing inches. I just finished the first phase of Focus T 25 (5 weeks) I didn't lose any pounds, but I lost inches and can tell a definite change in how my body looks
i also think its because you're building muscle and muscle weights more than fat so its harder to see the number go down on the scale. i have a butt load of muscles and of course, fat but for me its so much harder to see my weight go down because of how much my muscles must weight, i say, take pictures and compare. it works for me.
Hi I am currently on my recovery week and I cant see any proper results, I am not following the nutrition guide but I have been much much healthier than I used and drink lots of water and was just wondering will i be able to see results if i carry on this in to week two, thank you in advance
John Right you are doing the great first steps. Sometimes it takes a bit longer than we want to have it start showing up (this happened to me personally). Stay consistent and dig deep consistently, and you'll start noticing improvements, and then it seems to really take off with further consistency more than the first few weeks (as the body adapts to the new lifestyle it is slow, but then with the right consistency will treat you well!)
5"7 154 lbs. Old lol. Mum of 4 (youngest 10 weeks) asthmatic and diabetic type 2. Starting insanity today!! Will I see good results if I modify some of the moves?
khayraihaa That is awesome!! Way to go in starting today :-) The answer is YES you will absolutely see results if you modify the moves. I went through a 70 pound weight loss journey with programs like P90X & Insanity, and to be honest with you...I still modify certain moves! Always aim for your best and you'll get the results you deserve.Feel free to team up with us on Team Beachbody too: sweetlifefitness.net/join-sweet-life-free/Thanks again, and keep me posted on your journey!
***** thank you! ! Followed the link but I can't join as I'm in the UK. It doesn't have the option. Oh well. Thank you for your words of advice. Fingers crossed I stay motivated x
this helped so much I'm experiencing the same problem I did lose about 4-9 lbs during the first weeks but now I seem to be stuck my fit tests have improved but I guess I'll just give it a little more time... maybe month two will be better like you explained 😊
I am now in week six, and not seeing results, I'm going to finish the program and see what happens... Can it be that I'm retaining water? I'm not very fat, but it looks like my body is swollen. Someone I knew said it looked like I was retaining water, but it was already before I started insanity, is that possible? I have always worked out, but I was out for like two years and gained weight, could it be water weight or not? My belly isn't as big anymore and I'm starting to sweat more, but I can't see anything happening in my legs. It also looks like my cellulite is very, very thick, I don't know if that goes away with insanity... I gained weight, but I know that is muscle, so I don't mind that.
I've now finished week one, but I'm a bit worried because I don't really feel muscle soreness (except a bit in my calves) and I haven't exercised in over a year. I don't think I'm slacking off either because I only pause when I can't breathe or when my legs practically give out. Is this normal?
+HyperCFW™ they recommend eating small portions every 3-4 hours. You won't find yourself starving at all but one big factor is to eat right and not overeat or have cheat meals/etc
I am now in week 8, and haven't lost anything. I feel better and gain muscle, but the fat just stays... I thought it was water retention, but I got sick last week, could not to 3 days, so I just did the rest of the week and I started the week again, so it's my 8th week now for the second time... I really hope in this last 1,5 week I will lose soms weight, but I don't yet feel confident enough in my body...
Hey Bob!..I would like to know which is best range of heart rate when working out..As I am doing insanity into 4th week now and I have lost 5 pounds. And one more thing is that im from India, so I dont have the meal plan that suggests by insanity. So I am doing my own kind of changes in nutritional plan. I am doing insanity at 8.30 pm and eating at 10 pm and going to bed at 12. So is there anything wrong in that last part? I heard shaun t says that need not energy before bed..is that apply here...Appreciate your response!
Thanks for stopping by! The key with eating late at night is to make sure it is lower in carbs and higher in protein if anything. Having a bunch of carbs before bed is giving you unnecessary energy. Also for the heart rate, Google "Heart Rate Calculator" and look for one that talks about aiming for your aerobic & fat burning zones. Those are the best because they take your stats (age, weight, etc) and give you a legitimate focus that you'll use as a good target during your Insanity Workouts. Thanks!
So ive been doing the insanity program on dvd and its day 40/63 for me. I weighed 209 day 1 and weigh 207 day 40. I look absolutely a lot slimmer with my shirt off now and my cardio has improved alot. My excess fat region is slowly dispering. And my diet has been clean for the most part. I also havent been stsrving myself. I eat to refuel. I also dont overeat. What gives? Why isnt the scale showing numbers?
It's actually a GOOD thing. You are replacing fat with lean muscle mass, so the scale stays flat. I know that completely stinks because we use the scale to measure progress so much, but the key you mentioned is that your excess fat is going down. Keep that up, and you'll start seeing better improvements where your lean muscle mass will start shining through giving you that "ripped"/"toned" look
Nick that is great! I wish I had your luck, it wasn't until I dialed in the nutrition that I was able to start really losing the weight to get lean. I feel the more I get "fit", the harder it is to lose those last bits of body fat to show off the full six pack.
Bernadius Jackson you are right on - sweeteners and fake sugars are one of THE most harmful things when it comes down to losing weight and body fat. Good point!
Hi Bob l am a new subbie, thank you for the video. But l have got to ask this question...l am on day 4 of insanity and l have gained 600g in a day. l drank about 3L of water but ddnt use the loo as much, could that mean l am retaining water? Sorry for the TMI. Also why did l gain weight like that l mean the day before l lost 700g. Im not really following the nutrition plan but l am eating as clean as possible 3/5 meals a day. But yesterday l hardly ate and was super exhausted from the workout. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
+Janine Horton hello! If you didn't eat much that is most likely your issue, you definitely need to eat, as working out your body hard without the right proper nutrition causes your body to release cortisol hormone to manage the stress which adds water weight and sodium bloat.
Hi Bob just wanted to say thank you. I lost 0.66lbs in one day. l would have never imagined eating so much calories would result in weight loss, l was clearly starving myself. l wanted to find out should l maintain this amount of calories on rest days? Also l wanted to find out if you would be my coach cause you are awesome?
+Janine Horton BOOM that is Awesome!! Congrats and great job. Stay on that calorie plan for around 1-2 weeks, then weigh yourself again. As you lose weight you can adjust it down a bit as your body becomes more fit. I can absolutely be your coach! Check out the site, and once you are on board I can get you into our private groups too: sweetlifefitness.net/join-sweet-life-free/
I know this is an old post and people probably don't go on this anymore but I have completed week 2 of Insanity and I don't seem to be losing the weight. I am eating clean. Cut the alcohol out. No deserts. No bread. I will stick with it but it is really disheartening when I sweat every session and give everything and I don't see any results.
Were you able to complete? Hiw were your final results?....im on week 3 of insanity and ive have noticed results. I follow my calorie needs and my body is shaping up and losing weight ( to be fair i statred eating better a few before i started insanity ) but right now im 194lbs down from 210 ... ..i hope you was able to stick with it. This would be my second time doing it (first time 4 yeard ago) but i let myself slip after a summer of no discipline .but this time around i wont let myself fall off
@@elib9186 all I can say is stick with it! Trust the program! I lost 11kg (24.2 lbs) after 2 back to back Insanity's. I have started Insanity Max 30. Completed month 1. Be patient it works. However eat clean. I am having a relaxed mid week now. Having a beer, pizza etc. Then restart serious again for the same again next week! It is all about control and discipline
On week 5 of insanity 60day work out . Got sick had to stop for 2 weeks Where do i start back up again . Beginning or where i left off at? Any suggestions?
+Maria Yablokova sometimes people use that as a reason, but it depends on body fat percentage. Someone who is toned with great muscle may weigh more than someone that "looks" fatter. So muscle does weigh more than fat, but if someone has a lot of body fat, then they would want to focus on that first in order to get the toned body look (hopefully that makes sense? Hard to type it all out lol)
If people are not losing weight, then the diet is shit, maybe still having a drink at weekends, first couple weeks should gain with water, no point standing on scales, take measurements
I did insanity as well back in 2017 for me when I start it I didn't see any results for the first two weeks by the end of third week I lost like 5lb by the end of fourth week I lost another 5lb so thats 10 lbs than I start month two by the end of the month two I lost 19 or 20 lbs I remember I lost about 30 to 31 lb I even have a video on TH-cam search Freddy Doing insanity
I notice weight loss but I stall within like the fifth week mark then I started getting discouraged and fail. I failed at insanity probably like...uhhh...20 times😂 I need to get back to it again.
i lost 14 lbs in one month and there is one month more to go, im very excited
Way to go Jose!! That is definitely a big deal and a great thing to celebrate!!!

173lbs to 157lbs 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻
I’m don’t asylum now, hoping to loose 16 more to reach my goal!
Thanks!
Lol SHOT DOWN straight away. 'Yeah mate, you're not doing the nutrition plan fo sho'
GoldenbanjoDJ LOL love it!
*****
Love your vids, pal!
+lianne116 be patient, stay focused, it's totally worth it and you will rock it!
I’d say even if you’re doing the workout slow, as long as you have the correct form and are drinking enough water, eating a balanced meal, and snacking here and in between meals as well as keep moving (even go for a walk in the park can help), you will see results but of course not right away.
when I started I did not loose any pounds for one month but I lost lots of centimeters around my waist, arms chest, and I realized I had no muscles left after having 4 kids in 6 1/2 years. so my muscle percentage went up and body fat percentage went down stuck at 184 pounds the whole time but I am confident the weight will chang soon !
i just started insanity getting fit for summer cant wate guys to see these results!
Keep digging deep and it'll happen. Thanks for stopping by!
Carolaine Olivos so true!!
Muscle and fat weigh the same. A pound is a pound. Muscle is more dense than fat.
C'mon the questioner is cheating or they aren't doing the workout correctly. Plain n simple..
Lol he's so funny reminds me of will Smith
13 pounds in 2 n a half weeks
Angel Cesena AWESOME!
Fingers crossed I stay motivated x
guys it works got to put the work in and youll see it work
this helped so much I'm experiencing the same problem I did lose about 4-9 lbs during the first weeks but now I seem to be stuck my fit tests have improved but I guess I'll just give it a little more time... maybe month two will be better like you explained 😊
+iitzmejessiica slow and steady - I know it's cliche but trust me that is the slight edge to the secret of success :-)
Doing this now only week 2 but I feel better already.
I did the 60 days but i didn't lose weight or inches but i did got tone am going to do again and hopefully it works i have 20 pounds to lose..
You can definitely make it happen! Keep me posted on your journey!
i will :)
That's my problem... I'm not eating enough. I'm trying to though lol!
How many times do u eat while doing This Insanity program
Thanks!
Also diet and food intake is very important
15 years ago, everyone is struggling to lose weight. Now, everyone is struggling to gain weight.
🧐
65% of Americans are overweight, 40% are obese.
If something these people struggle to lose weight not gain it
So ive been doing the insanity program on dvd and its day 40/63 for me.
Thank you so much Bob :) I appreciate it! Ill be sure to send you before an after results!
Same thing with me I shaped up but didn’t lose weight
where s is the ful interview?
I can't seem to find it anymore - I think Beachbody may have taken it down since it's a bit older
i kinda just eat whatever but insanity has lost 5 lbs in the first week
Nick that is great! I wish I had your luck, it wasn't until I dialed in the nutrition that I was able to start really losing the weight to get lean. I feel the more I get "fit", the harder it is to lose those last bits of body fat to show off the full six pack.
So true
Did anyone think of artificial sweeteners
If you didn't eat much that is most likely your issue, you definitely need to eat, as working out your body hard without the right proper nutrition causes your body to release cortisol hormone to manage the stress which adds water weight and sodium bloat.
thanx Bob Sharpe l am definitely trying to increase my food intake to what is recommended on the programme
+Janine Horton keep me posted on your progress!
Check out the site, and once you are on board I can get you into our private groups too: sweetlifefitness.net/join-sweet-life-free/
can you do insanity with weights?
+Andrea Velasquez INSANITY doesn't use weights, but Asylum and Focus T25 (Shaun T's other programs) do incorporate some weighted moves.
what i mean is that is it ok if i add like weight band in my ankle and wrist when i do insanity. thanks for the reply
+Andrea Velasquez Oh sure you can if you want to add some additional intensity, but DANG that is some tough stuff in my opinion!
I am on OMAD and it works for mw
Many different opinions on this - but what I normally do is if it's over 1 week, I start over from week 1. Regardless, you got this!
Thanks tomorrow I'll start again can't hurt right can only get better!
I’m on week six and only lost 9 pounds
What about muscle weighing more than fat?😏
+Maria Yablokova sometimes people use that as a reason, but it depends on body fat percentage. Someone who is toned with great muscle may weigh more than someone that "looks" fatter. So muscle does weigh more than fat, but if someone has a lot of body fat, then they would want to focus on that first in order to get the toned body look (hopefully that makes sense? Hard to type it all out lol)
good vid
If people are not losing weight, then the diet is shit, maybe still having a drink at weekends, first couple weeks should gain with water, no point standing on scales, take measurements
I’m too sore the next day to “dig deeper” lol
Anyone else have that issue??
yep
Lol 5 meals a day that myth was debunked.
I did insanity as well back in 2017 for me when I start it I didn't see any results for the first two weeks by the end of third week I lost like 5lb by the end of fourth week I lost another 5lb so thats 10 lbs than I start month two by the end of the month two I lost 19 or 20 lbs
I remember I lost about 30 to 31 lb
I even have a video on TH-cam search Freddy Doing insanity
This dude zesty AF
Well He’s married to a man
DIET DIET and DIET nothing else
I notice weight loss but I stall within like the fifth week mark then I started getting discouraged and fail. I failed at insanity probably like...uhhh...20 times😂
I need to get back to it again.
Shaun T you look poorly
