  • Restoration $4000 Breitling watch after motorcycle crash | destroyed Superocean Heritage Chronometer
    This time I´m restoring a Breitling Superocean Heritage from 2012.
    It´s powered by the famous Breitling B17 automatic-movement (based on the ETA 2824-2).
    The retail-price of this diving-watch is $4,080 and it is chronometer-certified by the COSC.
    This watch is badly damaged...
    The movement is not working, the glass, the crown and the case are scratched. The bezel is destroyed and loose and even the strap is ripped off.
    I need to clean everything up and polish the case-parts. Some parts are beyond repair so I need to replace the glass, the bezel and some other movement-parts.
    After everything is cleaned and polished, I can re-assemble the movement with some fresh oil. After that, this watch is in a fantastic beat (+0 seconds per day) again.
    I hope you liked this restoration, if so, like, comment and subscribe ;)

    Everytime I see one of your videos, I miss my Father (may G'd keep him at His side) saying to me: "There are no hard tasks, there are the wrong tools!"... How beatiful may be the work of a skilled watchmaker, well equiped and with an artistic eye for videomaking!!! Thanks a lot for your dedication to us, your fans!

    What I find incredible is how this video was created, and this being taken for granted is the best part of it, first as it looks and feels so natural you do not notice it, and second how difficult and time consuming it is to create something like this, all those camera angles and shots while actually doing this restoration, which is by itself a difficult and complicated job. Simply magnificent!

    Not often I comment on videos but, this one is worth it. Very cool restoration and I like the 'silent videos' with subtitles explaining to those not involved in watch repair what you're doing. Superbly shot and loved the cool music on the outro. If I'm being fussy the cost of parts would be useful - just a guideline for those that love the smaller details. Great work.

    O’ my lord, your work is on another level.
    The finished product could be passed as brand new.
    What most of us seem to forget is how tiny these parts actually are, you camera work makes it look easy because everything looks so big, but in actual fact my eyes would be bleeding under the strain.
    Absolutely fantastic work buddy, well done 👍🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

    Incroyable, cette rénovation, difficile à imaginer quand on voit l'état de la montre au départ. J'adore Breitling, par contre je suis surpris de la taille du spacer, le boîtier est disproportionné par rapport au mouvement, c'est une 46 ? Merci pour vos vidéos d'une incroyable qualité, ça doit vous demander autant de temps à filmer / monter que la rénovation elle-même :)

    Interesting how it was in such good shape under the destroyed crystal. How do you keep track of all the different small parts? Like if one gear is 25 and another 27 tooth so visually they might look the same

    • @melody3741
      @melody3741 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They might look the same but they won’t fit in the same place. If you understand the (far more simple than you expext) mechanism of a watch you know there is only one part per function, and things like the diameter of the wheel, the position and size of its pinion, and the pivot size all makes it really obvious. I as a beginner despite not organizing the wheels never had an issue putting them back in the right place, although it is a little bit puzzle-ish to know which order they go back in as some are pinion on top and some are pinion on the bottom

    • @melody3741
      @melody3741 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So they cover each other up making you have to assemble in order

    • @xmasinpacific
      @xmasinpacific ปีที่แล้ว

      There aren't that many parts really - this particular movement is quite modern in construction which lends it self to repair quite nicely. You don't have to count the teeth - wheels tend to go bigger to smaller from the barrel down to the escapement. Screws are generally similar - occasionally color coded - plate screws for example will the the same across the entire 2800 series of movements. Not sure why you would re jewel the bridge a new one could be gotten easy enough; not that you couldn't do it, but a bridge is probably only 20 dollars. You send it back to the factory and its replaced not re jewelled. With an auto oiler you can oil the escapement without removing the cap jewel and incabloc shock protectors. Clearly from the video a new bezel insert was installed but not shown.

    Looking at the sheer amount of road-rash on this poor Breiting, one must wonder how much of the owner was wore away similarly like a pencil's eraser??? o~0

    Wow, the watch looked new just before it was damaged. Looks like who ever was wearing it was involved in something serious. I hope they where ok 🙏🏻🤦‍♂️👍🏻

      I'd guess came off motorcycle based on impact damage plus the gouging on crystal

    Hello , at first I thought watching a guy fix a watch would be like watching a guy bait fishing but it was fascinating to see you work . Thank you for posting such great work .

    I wonder what a restoration like this cost I know it probably is all different on the kind of watch it is but I’m just curious so for like a omega 300 with a chonograph on it

    I didn't realise the the Breitling had a ETA 2824 and it looks so small with that spacer fitted, a lot of money for a watch without an inhouse movement. You really did a great job repairing it, I thought something in the balance, pallet fork area was broken when I saw it run away and stop and run away again.

    First off, great work (as always). Secondly, is the driver of the motorcycle OK? Lastly, do people send you their watches for you to restore or do you buy them off eBay or something and then fix/sell them on?

      Wondering the same. From what the watch looked like, i have a hard time believing the original owner can wear it on the same hand. (unless he was wearing the watch on the outside of a goog leather jacket with protectors, which would be unusual)

    I'm guessing this was damaged in a motorcycle accident.If so I hope the wearer is ok. Beautiful watch and amazing transformation!
