    My collection of travel watercolor brushes in a cheap leather artist's roll from amazon. I've put links to all of the brushes and the roll below. My favorites are the Rosemary Brush Co. Travel Brushes. I've put a star beside the brushes I would buy again below. The pen clip I was trying to remember was indeed a space pen clip and I've put a link to that below as well. The pen clip fits perfectly on the smaller travel brushes from Rosemary Brush Co.

    "Casaneo" comes from "Kazan"+"neo" (new): it is supposed to be a synthetic hair that mimics Kazan squirrel hair.
    If you put the bristles in at an angle and rotate it, it gently eases all the bristles into the cap, so you do not need to wet it.

    The travel brushes are just so beautiful!
    Tiny, portable, elegant!
    They remember me to those tiny lamps doctors use

    Hi. I purchased 4 Escoda Reserva travel brushes from Amazon as well. I’ve had difficulty with them not coming to a point. I wonder if they were seconds? I’m disappointed. I think I need to contact Escoda.

    Black Velvets are half squirrel half synthetic. Just got my first ones (standard not travel) and while I haven’t used it for a full painting I really love the feel, I’ve only ever used inexpensive synthetics.

    Isabey makes some of the nicest watercolor brushes on the market, IMO. They have comfortable handles, the bristles are strongly attached, they are perfectly shaped, they hold a TON of water and pigment, and they feel WONDERFUL on the paper when you work with them...

    Escoda Reserva brushes are superb....very pricey.....recommend buy them from Escoda or a reputable artist supply store.....not Amazon

      I completely agree. See my video here for how awesome Escoda was when I contacted them about the brushes (they replaced them for free!): th-cam.com/video/0gPO-ccGz2g/w-d-xo.html

    Have you had a chance to use the Casaneo brushes any more by now? I'm really interested in trying them but there are barely any reviews of them out there, and they are so expensive that it hurts just thinking about buying them without knowing if they are any good! Am crossing my finger that you might have more experience with them now, and/or that you would like to show us in a new video! ☺️

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hannah Thufvesson I can put a video in my queue, but it might be a little while. However, I am really liking the Casaneo brushes! They perform beautifully. They hold a lot of water, but don’t dump it on the page like many synthetics do. If you are concerned about the price, you can get non-travel Casaneo brushes for less money to try them out first. I like them so much, I got a non-travel Casaneo quill brush from Jackson’s and it is now one of my favorite studio brushes. They are not as soft as real squirrel brushes, but not as firm as real Kolinsky.

    I used to make all my own travel brushes by cutting a small metal tube. Until I found Sable hair travel 7 brush set for less than $20.00. I don't even use my studio brushes anymore because that travel set has become my all day everyday set.

    i'm liking that rosemary small dagger brush. idk why more companies don't offer a variety of types. i mean.... escoda does, but only in those sets. so, what are you supposed to do if you wear one out and need to replace? it doesn't make a lot of sense.

    Thanks for showing your travel collection, I'm looking for a good travel brush and this was super helpful! And wouldn't Casaneo, mean "new house" as opposed to casein which means "cheese" ?

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      everart okelli casein is milk protein (which is in cheese), but I’m not really sure what the brush company means given that I don’t know if the brush contains casein.

    You have a large collection and your videos have a lot of content about supplies. But very few of your paintings. It would be nice to see what you create with all you have.

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you search my channel you will find some of my paintings and mixed media work. I also recently did a paint with me video that you can find here: th-cam.com/video/vmdgI9m1_fY/w-d-xo.html I generally don't create as much content about my paintings because they historically have not done very well as far as viewership goes.

    So, looking at the rosemary brushes, for my first travel brush I am interested in the dagger. Which material would you suggest? Thank you

    • @MysteryArts
      @MysteryArts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Light Science for the travel dagger brushes you only have one choice with Rosemary and that is a mix of synthetic and sable. They are great brushes. You can choose from a 1/4 inch or 3/4 inch-it really just depends on what you like. I use the 1/4 more myself.

    I hate lamy. With that being said my wife found two lamy joy's for $1.75 a peice. So she picked them up for me. I love them. First lamy I ever had that performed as a fountain pen should.

      i find them pretty nice for drawing. just gotta get a converter so you can put waterproof ink. i think it's cool you can do interchangeable nibs also. (for drawing, the calligraphy nib actually is quite nice. the one that's flat. i'm forgetting the term.)
