- Hello, this is Shibasaki, your watercolor instructor. Up until now I've been providing you with a lot of videos that teach you how to draw authentic paintings in an easy-to-understand way, but today I'd like to change my taste and provide you with a video where I don't say a single word. This kind of video is called ASMR. I guess this kind of video is not so bad sometimes. I'm looking forward to your comments.

I agree. This is the first video I was lucky enough to have stumbled upon. And all I can say is I am extremely impressed. By every detail. There’s too many words to type. Just amazing how you can make something so difficult look so easy.

普段他の画家の方々の水彩画を見て、精密で凄いなぁと感じますが、柴崎さんの作品の色使いはまさに目で見た景色と言った感じで、光が作り出す数多の色の再現が、その景色を見た時の感動を蘇らせるようでとても素敵です
Yes please more ASMR paintings! The raw sounds of art being created is why I enjoy art myself. I always enjoy the sounds of different mediums as I create. Would love more of these videos master
The sounds of different media, not “mediums” - unless you are talking about clairvoyants!

It's always wonderful to watch you work, Mr. Shibasaki. No talking and no music brings the focus in toward the sounds of the painting process, which is nice from time to time. I'll be praying that your health makes a solid recovery so that we may all continue to enjoy watching you work.

I am a gruff 50 year old man, with little to no interest in art. I started watching this video, seeing these sloppy strokes, thinking to myself that a 3 year could do this. I have never in my life, seen something inanimate come to life in such a way. This man used his vision and talent to bring something so unimaginably beautiful to us, like a precious gift. This brought tears to my eyes.
This was absolutely fascinating to watch. I treat my paint brushes like they're fragile instruments but you treat them like tools. Your brush technique has inspired me to stop babying my paint brushes. 😊
Yes more please, so often getting started, finding a subject to paint or relaxing enough to hear what the brush, paint and paper are saying, where they are leading me, is hard to do. I’d appreciate a longer video of this type, an hour would actually be quite nice. TY
I love to hear your thoughts but videos like this are also wonderful! as others have there is something very relaxing about videos like this and its always great to watch someone who really knows their craft~

Oddly enough, I found that this actually helped me focus while working on something, the sounds I mean. It is so satisfying watching the picture come together and that fire with the smoke coming off of it is amazing. It is stunning how at first it just seems like random bits of color, but then it comes together into something... extraordinary.

I do enjoy both your voiced videos with subtitles (even if I don't understand Japanese) but I like this format too. Thank you for this different type of video, ASMR type. I really liked being able to watch you work as you would without doing a video, especially with the close up shots and all the sounds. It helped me to understand better how watercolor works and to be more brave in my painting attempts. It was very helpful. The finished painting was brilliant as always! It is fun that you let us appreciate the process and the environmental sounds as they present during your painting session.
ASMR wise, it is satisfactory visually as well as auditory. Especially the pencil, the brush, the knife, and the finger strokes on the surface of the watercolor paper. The delicate touches when you are giving definition are very nice too. About that, the smoke of the fire is definitely the highlight of the ASMR experience, as it is mesmerizing to see it appear under the touch of your brush and it was making a lovely sound.
Overall, I am all for it! And the painting is again, as always, wonderful.

Absolutely lovely artwork. That he speaks or not or without music, it is not important. He delivers very well what the image can tell in thousands words.

What is ASMR?
ASMR, which stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, is a sensory reaction some people experience when they listen to specific auditory triggers. The feeling is often described as:
A delightful, tingling sensation on the skin
That starts on the scalp and travels down the neck
Sometimes, it extends to the spine
Includes feelings of relaxation and well-being
Usually, when people talk about ASMR, they refer to TH-cam videos.

I found this so peaceful, there were moments where I felt as if I was in the painters body - hearing the sounds of the paint, brushes, tape, water, palette knife - thank you for sharing
