- This is a hike from the free parking for fishermen area at Sand Lake Recreational Area. Sandlake is on the Oregon Coast between Pacific City and Cape Lookout State Park. It is a destination for off road playing in the sand. In the summers it can be chaotic and loud.
During the winter, on weekdays it usually sees much less use, and the hike up the beach to the Cape Lookout South trail is a beautiful, quiet trip.
This is part of the Oregon Coast Trail, and last winter my buddy Mike and I hiked it heading south. We came across a whale carcass along the way. There is a video on this channel.
This can be hiked as we did, an out and back from the Fishermen parking area. It can also be a point to point a vehicle at the Fishermen parking area and with a vehicle parked up at the Cape Lookout trailhead. This can even be hiked from the park day use area itself, which we did last year. That is a much longer hike.
Wow, what a nice hiking experience. Looks like a wonderful trail. Beautiful video Backman ;)
Thank you, It was a near-perfect day for that time of the year.
Absolutely stunning 🤯! Your talent for storytelling really shines through in this video.
Thank you!
💚💚💚 MH spaghetti 🍝, love! Beautiful day in a beautiful state!
It was a great day just to be out there. We were walking in our base layer shirts. Very unusual for February on the coast.
