So many drivers will laugh at you for getting out and looking... They apparently think G.O.A.L. is only for rookies. Guess what the first thing those same "Laughing Hyenas" yell at you AFTER you hit THEIR truck... WHY DIDN'T YOU GET OUT AND LOOK???
Here is a tip for all you drivers, rookie or not, to help you stay accident free... GET OUT AND LOOK, no matter what anyone else tells you, how long it takes, how many times you have to try, or how much laughing , yelling, or berating you is involved. Just get it done right. You are responsible for your OWN rig, AND your OWN driving record, NOT them.
Don't be afraid to take as long as it takes to do it right. When in doubt.... G.O.A.L. again. It is so much easier to explain why it took so long to succeed, and then leave it behind you, and forget it, then it does to have to explain how and why you failed to the "Other Guy", the police, your company (If Applicable), insurance companies, and any potential future employers, over and over again... None of them will likely LET you forget it... Or get past it easily.
No shame in taking time to learn. Some people pick it up quickly, others just need more practice. Gene is correct, it IS best to practice in an area where you can minimize any pressure, damage, and preferably, embarrassment. Just keep trying, and you will build confidence. Also remember, no matter how good you get, you will STILL be prone to have bad days... That's trucking.

You nailed everything for rookies to do. I did everything you said here. I watched junior Honduras and my trucking skills videos. I also practiced alot when parking at truck stops. I would go to TAs or petro because they usually have the largest parking lots and are always more empty than loves and pilot flying j’s. Every time I needed to back in for restroom or food or call it a day I would practice backing 3 or 4 times everyday till it became easy. And yes start your day early so you can end early and practice backing in a few times.

@@GeneWheel thank you. Was there a certain app or software? It’s dope. I’m trying to do mines or find someone who can do it. Just don’t know where to start.

Did you go to a CDL school or did you go through one of the truck companies? And how long did the CDL school last if you went?

STEP ONE....Do NOT even THINK about a slave labor,no respect treated like dirt,no advancement, deadend, boring, mundane, with no place to advance job like trucking.
STEP TWO....DO JOT even THINK about GETTING a CDL
STEP THREE....GO AHEAD and file for a divorce beforehand and get used to not seeing your kids, your family or having a life.
    STEP FOUR......STAY AWAY FROM TRUCKING
CAUSE YOU WILL COME TO REGRET IT.

I got pull over by highway patrol for hot shot. I do have cdl a and hazmat endorsement, I still have followed fsmc regulation. Now I have pending violations on my clearance house.
I told officer I am not using cdl a licensing doing hotshot and I shouldn't be subject to fsmc rules. Officer said its doesnt matter if you are cdl company driver or not, your cdl license is subject under fmsc rules. I was running empty flat bed less than 26000 lbs.
My question how do run hotshot without subject to fsmc and not use my cdl so I dont have time constraints or elog as hotshot.
