Experience that is your most important step as a beginner. Go with the company with the longest training. Inconvenient at first bc your eager to get on your own. But you have to set yourself up for success first.

I know that this video is two years old, but this is a very informative very well put together and accurate. What you said was 100% ! I decided that I wanted to get my CDL and I’ve been doing extensive research looking at companies and what they offer coming in. I agree about the same thing with these companies for new grads, with maybe a slight difference. That is the perfect way to describe it.
I don’t think that enough people do good and accurate research before they take these jobs and then get upset when it’s not what they expected. I see many videos on TH-cam like that. You have to know the right questions to ask the recruiters. I say that because there is not a lot of transparency in the job descriptions with some of these trucking companies.
I also don’t think that OTR is for everyone and there are companies that will hire you for local runs, but you really have to dig for them and it depends on the area you live in.

You spoke well. I'm a former swift driver. They gave me my opportunity, I made the best of it! Today I have a perfect driving record, on time delivery , etc. Everything is a tool. Some master their tools, and others don't. I eventually moved on and driving for a smaller company. I feel what people need to do is focus on the Greater purpose. I was proud just to be driving truck and was determined I wasn't going to become a video ...because unfortunately No one films those who execute some backing skills and you know there are plenty of those. I got lucky and was hired by a smaller local company to start my career instead of joining a mega carrier. Right now I’m running one run every day, 3-4 hours out, same back. Once I have another few weeks experience and get my hazmat (in process) I’ll be going out 2-3 overnights per week. $.52 per mile to start, a raise per mile after getting hazmat. Fully paid health care, per dime for overnight trips, demurrge pay. Only downside is old equipment, but they are big enough to have a fully staffed shop.

I love this video, after 6 months to a year of researching companies I just realized that the average trucker is a complainer. Mostly because a lot of new bloods get into the industry because they're lazy and they think it's going to be an easy job just driving from point A to point b. Still though, I'm having trouble finding a company because of all the negative reviews from truckers on the companies I look at. At this point I'll probably just jump on a random company or Werner because they caught my eye when I was in school

I’m currently training with Werner but about to start with Swift on Monday for a better opportunity and to JUST GET MY FEET WET and some skin in the game. Not to get rich. Not to get favored by the company. Not to get every single thing I want lol Soooooo many people have sooooo many opinions about company choices, but at this point in my life whatever sits right with my spirit, that’s the way I’m moving. If it’s a Blessing, thank God 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 If it’s a lesson, thank God 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Either way, it’s a win win for me.
Some may wonder why I’m switching: I’m switching because Werner gave the impression during school that we were able to choose the type of account that we wanted. So I went through a whole choosing process, got my CDL, and got touch freight (Dollar General) opposed to no touch like I requested. Swift has a great opportunity that feels right so I’m gonna see what comes of that opportunity. I’m optimistic by nature, so whatever is for me is already mine. I literally have no worries. I hope this helps someone.

I would like to say out of all of the videos that I have seen on TH-cam about trucking companies your video is the most sufficient and it is dead on correct. When I first got my CDL I was panicking on what company that I wanted to go to being a school bus driver for over 20 years I was so stuck doing the same routine everyday that when I did go to these companies they told me one thing yet when I get there they completely changed what they told me. Of course I was new and I went with what I felt they were going to allow me to do until they changed and told me what it was that I was going to do. I got very stressed out and did not like the company for lying but now I am about to own my own truck and I have my own authority so I'm running the show now.

I work for CRST locally in Cali and they are honestly not that bad. I hate some of their equipment and I hate their disorganization but other than that they never micro manage unless you give them a reason🤷🏽‍♀️I’ve seen guys take down fences with the trailer and as long as you report it they will give you a slap on the wrist and you’ll be back trucking with possibly nothing getting on your record. I’ve been driving since 1996 mostly local but all I got to say what ever you put into your company is what your company will put into you if you are not a complainer and mind your own business and do what is asked of you the companies will take care of you

Great words, good insight, and that's a great way to follow logic. I truly like the part about "If ANY Company is the best opportunity for you, you need to take it" "Look at YOUR options and do what is best for YOU." Great! Keep following Logic!

Just came across this video and I’ve been driving now for 2 months and I feel you bro I feel like people bash all these companies but forget that everyone has to start somewhere just because one driver makes a mistake on the road doesnt make it a horrible company every job has good and bad
