I got one when I was ten, and she lived to be sixteen. I can say that so far, I've spent more time of my life with her than without her.
She was an inseparable companion who always stayed by my side and had to be with me no matter what. The loyalty of a Miniature Pinscher is unquestionable! I miss her a lot...

Thanks for posting, we love our little guy. He’s my alarm dog. He makes me aware when the oven timer goes off if Im in another part of the house or if I have a timer set for the drip lines. He never lets me ignore the buzzing. We got an inexpensive $23 no shock no bark collar from amazon & it worked now he doesn’t even need it anymore. We got a dog heating pad for on top of his pillow & then covered by his fuzzy rug. We keep it at 85 degrees in our warm house. He loves it., provides warmth all night unlike human heating pads that shut off. We work from home so he’s on our laps all day. He goes out in the yard “to take a break” several times each day with the big dog & gives all the neighbor dogs a brief lecture, ha! we used to supervise his outside tine cause he ate a chunk of dirt anyway looked like it., but now he races out with the big dog, does his thing. & runs back in.
Update: beware if you have one of these guys because anything that hits the floor goes immediately into his mouth even if its a piece of plastic. If it was a pill or a tiny battery it could be very serious.

Ziggy our minpin is so smart, he loves everyone who visits us, and very social. He learns quickly, and if by chance he gets outside I just shake his treat bag and he comes running back. He steals everything, will eat anything, and can be challenging, but very affectionate little dog. Very loyal, awesome dog.♥️♥️♥️😁

I have one living with me on my yacht. He was saved from a bad part of Venezuela as a feral dog where he was barely living on scraps he could find. He is a lovely little dog, well trained and quick to learn and the best boat guard I could ever wish to have. I don't have to worry about him not coming back to me as he's on my heels always. The sad thing is that he won't play or swim but I don't really care as he's my tiny friend

He got into the cat food when he was 14 and was got pancreatitis so from 14 until he passed away last October he was on Hill Prescription food low fat. I think I just got blessed with him cause he got into the trash and ate some stuff he shouldn’t have so many times.

I have a 1 yr old pinscher (turning 2 in 2 months) and he's a very good watchdog/guarddog. Very good hearing and smell and will go to the door and watch if he hears anything especially footsteps. Also very playful and mine would not sleep at night if he's not beside one of us. If we wake up and go out of the room, he'll wait for us to come back (literally). Best dog breed, really.

  • @LancashireLass37

We have a minpin...the best most intelligent dog I've ever had. Ziggy figures out how to solve problems. He taught himself how to open a sliding door, is an escape artist and communicates with us like a human. He alerts when strangers arrive. But he is a glutton with food. He wakes me up with a tap of his paw, obeys me. Yes he is loud but it's okay. ♥️

Now 63yo, I lived in the same household as a min pin when I was in high school. She was the coolest dog. The personality of min pins is accurately described in the video. If you can't take a bit of excessive barking, they are not the dog for you. But other than that they are absolutely adorable, affectionate, energetic, brave, loyal (as most dogs), easy to care for, and very alert. They make very good home alarms. And heck, they wouldn't be such great watchdogs if they weren't a bit yappy.
I am looking to get a dog knowing that I am going to be living by myself and will have the time to devote to a dog. The min pin seems a good choice for my situation.

  • @cryingclown78

Me and my daughter love our min pin. He is so affectionate, he does bark a lot as he wants to be in on everything and doesn’t want to be left out, however he is happy to be left for a few hours as long as he’s comfy. He is attached to my daughter and hates when she leaves him. Overall.. playful, affectionate and loves anyone or anything, even cats that stray in his garden.

We rescued my dog Frankie at the county pound when he was approximately 12 weeks old. I first noticed him as the ingest paperwork described him as a “Vizsla Mix” (ha-ha: not true.) My Vizsla had passed away at 11 years old and we said we would definitely get another Vizsla if we could find a mini size. Frankie is red in color, but his eyes and nose color are out of standard for the Red Min-Pin, and he is large (22 lbs).…..however all his traits match the description in this video perfectly. Regardless of his potential mix or pure-breeding, he is a very good dog who we love. He is ten working on eleven, and we hope to have him for many more years to come.

All together we have had 7 Min Pins. All but one was rescued. We have 2 at the moment but usually have 4 at a time. Unfortunately we lost 2 in the past year. I love this breed & wouldn't have any other. But unfortunately in our area it is hard to find another one to adopt.
    We usually adopt from IMPS.

Thanku for this video, very informative advice....im adopting 2x 7yr Olds end of January when i get back to my country... Your video gave me a good insight in how and what to watch out for..i only adopt older dogs and each time they pass on I say nevvvvvver again, so much heartbreak, but here i go again. ...I've only had them for a visit one full day before I left, they were very good...they very small, I was afraid 😨 that I might break them when I picked them up, they didn't know me at all, but being an animal lover there was an immediate connection..Wonderful advice, 😊 looking very forward to my new barbies...

I've had so many different breeds but minpins are by far the best. I'd never recommend them for first time, or timid dog owners. If you aren't the leader they will take over as alpha. They are absolutely the most entertaining breed, total clowns. When they've been bad, which is often, they figure out exactly how to play you to get out of trouble. They could teach a master class in table begging. They will torment your cat all day, then cuddle up to sleep with the cat at night. My favorite is the clear red.

I had a small breed dog and when I went to give her a bath she clawed up my tub. I went on TH-cam to find a solution. I found a cat getting a bath on a window screen. I thought the claws would not go through the screen and I thought the screen might be ruff on her little puppy paws. I came up with using a roll of puffy drawer liners from the 99 cent store. You can reuse it just hang dry after use. I just cut off just a little bit longer then her stance and saved the rest. No more clawing the tub and her footing was more secure.

Great dogs, but they require a lot of attention. They don't just bark...they have a wide and impressive variety of vocalizations. After a while, you know exactly what your min pin wants simply by listening to its vocalizations. Ours is about 2 years old now and he's experiencing some teenager-style issues. It seems, if you don't fix your male dog, they reach a period of extreme anxiety related to mating. They will yelp/scream like they are injured and in intense pain. Very scary when you hear it, but the vet said it's a common issue for this breed.

  • @derekbaker777

We put a long skinny line on ours cause it’s easier to catch him. He’s so quick! Easier to train when we can get him immediately & reward or stop whatever he’s up to. The TH-cam videos of min pin puppies doing tricks proves they can do complicated tricks.

If you have an apartment, think about the barking. I had one in an apartment and he barked about once every two minutes when we were out of the house. It drove my neighbors nuts.
At the dog park, other owners were afraid of him because he barked a lot. He was just saying, let's play. He got to play with some Yorkies, once. They bark a lot, so the owner was happy to see someone who wasn't afraid of a barking dog.
He learned quickly, if it mattered to him. I showed him how to sit before I would let him chase geese. It took him one time to get it.

2k is about normal for a pedigree. Lots of greedy breeders during Covid.

Literally didn’t know I was getting a Min Pin absolutely don’t like this dog at all. He’s untrainable have had for 9 months really thinking about taking him to the dog shelter. His name X cause he stay on 10. He was a unwanted birthday gift my boyfriend bought they told him it was a apple head chihuahua soon as I saw the dog I knew it was not a chihuahua because I have had that breed before.

Should your boyfriend get serious in your (plural) relationship, seek counseling.
I am an attorney. You both need to find if your attitudes are compatible. Should you still want to place your dog, I am interested.

If you are thinking about getting rid of the dog do it now! Don’t wait for it to get older. It’s easier to rehome a dog the younger it is. Please don’t ever get another dog.....if you aren’t 100% sure you will keep one for it’s entire life then you shouldn’t have one.

You don't deserve to be an owner of a Miniature Pincher, I pray it finds someone deserving of the incredible breed.

And you would have liked a Chihuahua even more? Like wtf, don't get a dog if it being energetic isn't for you. That's kind of what you get with any dog. I'll take your min pin, they're amazing dogs.

We just got our Min Pin 3 weeks ago and i'm already training him , you cannot be in a hurry to get him to listen as they learn in small increments. You have to act as the alpha in front of him and you absolutely have to be patient with them. My Min Pin is already showing signs of loyalty, and he's still young ( 2 years old ). If i put in the work to train him in 9 months he should be very well behaved. Try getting a dog trainer to help out. Dogs aren't the problem, people are.
