I've always wondered about this. Thanks for clarifying! I don't really deep condition like that, but I do have low porosity hair. Going to give this a try and if it works for me cool & if it doesn't, that's cool too. I don't know where all this negativity comes from in the natural hair community. Do what works for you, but never bash the next person if something works for them just because you feel it is wrong.

Fungus has to be present on the hair before fungal growth is triggered by warm and damp conditions. It honestly doesn’t make sense to expect mildew and bacteria to occur with overnight deep conditioning when you *just washed your hair.*
It’s really more of question of how clean you’re getting your hair. Which also begs the question-can your deep conditioner fully penetrate your semi-clean hair?...
Overnight Prepoo, on the other hand, does carry the risk since you’re starting off on dirty hair. That’s why ingredients like ACV and aloe can be preventive to fungal growth and support scalp health.
    Favorite deep conditioners:
Pricey-Adwoa**, Miche protein, UFD Heal & Renew.
Can’t overnight with Adwoa because it’s too tingly.
    Affordable-Eden Bodyworks Split End Repair
I’m also gonna try the CurlTheory Deep conditioner because I like ingredients list.

I don’t necessarily deep condition over night, but when my hair is super dry or just needs some extra moisture, I use my deep conditioner as a leave-in.
I have low porosity hair that is SUPER protein sensitive and it is so dry, frizzy, split ends, single strand knots. So most of the time on wash days, my deep conditioner is my leave-in, and then I braid my hair up till it’s time for my next wash day.
So far, it is has helped my hair with retaining moisture longer, becoming more manageable, less knots, less breakage. I also use it as a leave-in because lately the products I used to use, just haven’t been working with my hair lately. My fave deep conditioner is Lavender Quench Deep Conditioner by Camille rose.
HOWEVER, I did just find and use The Mane Choice kids strawberry moisturizer and green apple leave-in. YALL 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 THE SSSSSSSSSSLIP is so damn great! 10 stars ! And as a leave-in? 10 stars. And they work perfect together. Unlike most products I’ve come across.
I’m a natural who’s still learning, searching, and doing her best ✌🏼 💛

Thank you for the video. I rarely deep condition overnight because I never really heard a lot of “positive” things about it but the information is very helpful for the future. & I just started using Miche protein deep conditioner & I love it ❤️

Girl, I tried deep conditioning overnight because of your last video and I felt no difference. Watching this, turns out I did so much wrong 😂 I'll try again with these tips in mind!

I think overnight conditioning is helpful if you don’t have the time to spend several hours in one day on your hair.

I "deep condition" 1x a week. I'm low porosity. I add hot oil 2 my hair and queen helene chosterol to my ends". I baggy my ends then cover that with another bag. I dont shampoo weekly just rinse with hot h20 or vinegar mix Follow up with oil and my hair stays moisturized all week. I work over night so I dont have night time 2 do my hair. When I sleep during the day which is about 6 hours I do the baggy method. My ends will be moisturized without product and dry supper quick.

I find myself going for the maui moisture Agave mask or shea moisture Yogurt and Manuka honey mask. Just something about those two give me great hair days consistently! Regardless of the shampoo or conditioner I use.

I love this video. I like the technique of doing it on damp hair instead of wet. I don’t actually deep condition overnight because I pre poo with a mixture of oil and conditioner. I do this mainly to detangle before shampooing. I noticed that when I do this I don’t need to deep condition for a long time. However I keep the damp hair technique in my back pocket for that rare occasion. My favorite Deep conditioners at the moment are The Miss Jessie’s Super Sweetback Treatment and Michè Beauty’s Strengthen Deep Conditioner.

I think ingredients matter when deep conditioning overnight. When I did it with a conditioner that didn't contain protein, my hair felt like mush, but when I did it with a conditioner that had protein in it the result was fine. I rather use a heating cap to deep condition though

This is a good video!! I have a few but CRN Coconut Water, Adwoa Beauty and Briogeo Don't Despair Repair are go to DC favs. I do overnight conditioning before a protective style and after it's taken out of that style. My hair, Ms Ruby, needs a little extra TLC after 4-5 weeks in crochet braids. This is truly an individual option.

Always look forward to hearing what you have to share. Thank you. I had a couple thoughts, maybe one could also leave the DC on their hair longer during the day. Many of us (since the pandemic), are working from home and can leave the DC on for the same amount of time during the day instead of doing it overnight. I guess, they could benefit from it this way too.
Also, in as much as we would keep the DC off our scalp, while sleeping there is a possibility it could touch the scalp, right?
    Just my thoughts.

    • @CurlyChemistry
      @CurlyChemistry  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

DC during the day is fine too, in regards to the scalp that's why I mentioned to apply the DC an inch away from the scalp, however if some product does get on the scalp it won't be as much. If you find that this doesn't work, then definitely DC during the day.
