- HI EVERYONE, THIS WEEKS VIDEO IS THE RESTORATION OF A CORGI TOYS VOLKSWAGEN 1500 KARMANN GHIA AND A DRIVE ON SOME OF JERSEY'S ROADS IN OUR 1952 FORD PREFECT E493A. I APOLOGIZE FOR THE QUALITY OF THE SOUND AT TIMES, IT TOOK ME 8 HOURS TO EDIT THE VIDEO LAST NIGHT FINISHING JUST BEFORE MIDNIGHT, MY BACKGROUND MUSIC AND VOLUMES WENT A BIT TO POT AS I WAS A BIT TIRED BEING UP AT 4.30 AM FOR WORK EACH DAY SO BY THEN I WASN'T TOO SURE WHAT I WAS TRYING TO DO LOL, BUT I HOPE IT DOESN'T SPOIL YOUR ENJOYMENT OF WATCHING THE VIDEO TOO MUCH!

Another beautiful book from a appreciative subscriber , and a big thank you to him as you are worth every page of those books Sir. Again a lovely sympathetic restoration beautifully done , and the scenery in the car journey was a bonus , but as always the car is the star and what a beautiful car she is with the unique windscreen raising at the bottom for fresh air. As usual top notch content Sir , and you and yours stay safe 👍 Tam.
Thank you for your nice comments, yes the book was a nice surprise and very much appreciated. The car is great fun but there is always work that needs doing to it but that is all part of having an old car and it makes one appreciate it more when using it😊👍

Great job and lovely video Nick. I lived in St.Aubins for a couple of years in the early 80’s. Crazy times and lovely memories. Brought a few back. Ford Prefect looks terrific.

Hi Nick nice job on the VW a very lovely red and it went together pretty good. Oh yeah thank you for the mention you say you got some ideas out of the book I'm looking forward to seeing them . As for the Ford Prefect what a beautiful car it's nice when you lift up the bonnet of a car you can actually see the engine and not a load of plastic and i see the valves we're in the Block and not on the head very unusual... it's very nice round Jersey thanks for the tour and thank your wife for some very nice filming.

Thank you Ralph, yes a few models I need to look for now, it is very interesting to see which models were rare and which were easily obtainable when the book was published and how that’s changed. With the old Prefect a small side valve engine under a relatively big bonnet, loads of room to work on it👍 The old girl needs some work doing to her but with an
old car like that there is always something to be done, part of the fun! Many thanks again for the book.

Another great video Nick, the VW 1500 turned out really good. The tour around Jersey was great. Your Ford Prefect is a lovely old car, what a brilliant way to tour around your beautiful island. When (if it ever does) things get back to normal, Anne-Marie and I hope to come to Jersey for a holiday. The scenery, especially along the coast, looks stunning. On the front wings...that little notch is a clearance light 🚨.. it was usually colored dot yellow... With a chromed outer edge... Just a bit of information...
Nice VW resto Nick yet again, lovely model this and likewise the real thing was a smart looking thing! The spare tyre doubles up great for pushing the bonnet up on the model, nice touch!Loved the island trip in the prefect what a nice driver it is and fine example !

Hi Nick, just watched this restoration video again because I've just got one of these Corgi VW 1500 Karmann Ghia cars in a job lot off ebay. Can you remember what tyres you got for yours, I need to get some tyres for mine? Thanks and best wishes. Peter.
Hi Peter, I think the tyres were 15mm treaded tyres for corgi models from the 50’s and 60’s, which I bought on eBay ages ago, it’s too far back on my eBay purchase history to find which buyer I got them from, when I click on it, it just says listing no longer exists or item has been removed🤦🏻♂️ Sorry I can’t be any more help than that, but good luck with the restoration of your model VW 1500 Karmann Ghia. Hi Nick another great resto on the vw a guy up the road from us has a light green one cool old car. Your Ford prefect is a credit to you just beautiful every old car needs a name and Elsie suits her right down to the ground. I am lucky enough to own a 1959 MGA roadster her name is Rebecca and i love to go on day trips in the South Australia country side when the sun is out anyway. Thank you for taking us along on your country drive the scenery is just sublime what a beautiful part of the world you live in. Do you belong to a car club or do you just take her out to blow the cobwebs away. Stay safe guys and I'll catch you on the next one.👍
Thank you Geoff, we used to be in the Jersey Classic Vehicle Club, which catered for all kinds of old vehicles even old lawn mowers and tractors etc, but it’s got a bit expensive and political so I didn’t renew my membership last year, so we just take her out to blow the cobwebs away! I need to put new brake linings on her too this winter, they arrived a couple of weeks ago so I must do that soon. I bet your MGA Roadster is nice, those are lovely old cars!

Great job nick,well done,couple of quick questions,do you use clearcoat on the finish,and do you prefere rivots than drill and tapping,once again great work.
@@garrytowell1609 thank you Garry, yes I do use clear coat on the finish, the only time I don’t is when I use enamel paint, but when I use acrylic paint which is most of the time I do and yes I do prefer rivets if the model was riveted together originally.
Hi Nick, l enjoyed the restoration, but the ride in the Ford was brilliant, l have an old car it’s a Morris 1300 1969, but I used to have a 1951 Sunbeam Talbot 90 and it had an annoying vibration , it turned out to be the propshaft U Js being out of balance ! Don’t know if that’s any help.

Thank you Tony, never thought about the prop shaft, could well be that, the vibration noise sounds as if it comes from some thing tubular and hollow, thanks for telling me that!😊🤦🏻♂️

I can but them in Holland, but they are of very poor quality! 👍🏻💪🏻
Thank you Peter, I always buy my rivets on eBay as I can’t get anything like that here in Jersey.
