GBO2 RX-0 Banshee Norn: Stronger than pre-nerf Unicorn Gundam?!

- This video contains two matches I had with the recently released Banshee Norn on Gundam Battle Operation 2. It is a 700 cost general with 3 instant staggers, great midrange DPS, ludicrous melee damage in NT-D, nearly no NT-D HP drain, 90% HP NT-D activation, melee life steal in Awaken mode, no damage penalty in Awaken mode, incredible durability, 3 melee swings in NT-D, great mobility in NT-D and a special jutte parry which can instantly delete half of a raid's HP. It has absolutely no weaknesses, the only thing approaching one is that it needs to lose 10% of it's HP before it can use NT-D. This suit is absolutely ridiculous, it is hard to put it into words. It has no weaknesses and it does everything better than the other 700 cost generals. I hope that you enjoy watching!
Its primary weapon is a beam magnum with 3300 power, 5 ammo, 6 seconds cooldown, 14 seconds reload, 0.77 seconds swap time, 400m range, 0.8 seconds focus and 20% stagger value. This needs to focus before firing but has high damage, an easy to hit large projectile and a small splash radius. It also instant staggers.
Its primary melee weapon is a beam saber with 2900 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.77 seconds swap time and 130% (90%x3) downswing modifier. This is a pretty normal beam saber in normal mode, but in NT-D it changes into a pair of beam sabers with incredible reach and ridiculous downswing power. It is hard to hit all 3 parts of it but consistent to hit 2, either way it will do insane damage.
Its first sub weapon is a vulcan gun with 150 power, 40 ammo, 600 RPM, 11 seconds reload, 0.5 seconds swap time, 200m range, 1500 DPS annd 6% stagger value. This has great DPS and can stagger enemies in just 1.7 seconds, making it useful for a variety of situations.
Its second sub weapon is an underbarrel launcher with 500x2x3 power, 6 ammo, 5.5 seconds cooldown, 12 seconds reload, 0.77 seconds swap time, 300m range and 20%x2x3 stagger value. This fires a 3 round burst shot of initially low damage projectiles that then explode to do twice the listed damage and stagger accumulation, each one also instant staggers.
Its third sub weapon is a beam cannon with 1500x2 power, 45%x2 heat, 5 seconds cooldown, 15 seconds overheat, 0.33 seconds swap time, 450m range, 0.8 seconds focus time and 35%x2 stagger value. This needs to focus like the beam magnum, but the fast swap time makes it easy to work into combos despite that. It fires two instant stagger beams in a row.
Its fourth sub weapon is a beam jutte with 1500 power, 2.5 seconds cooldown, 0.33 seconds swap time, 0.33 seconds focus time, 100% side swing modifier and 250% downswing modifier. You can use this weapon in NT-D. It has weak regular swings, but the fast swap time combined with the long reaching solid damage downswing makes it a good combo starter. It can charge and then later release to enter a short parry state, where it will block enemy melee attacks then counterattack with a very powerful spinning slash.
Its fifth sub weapon is a beam tonfa with 3500 power, 2 seconds cooldown, 0.5 seconds swap time, 70%/49% combo modifier, 100% side swing modifier and 150% downswing modifier. This has really high damage, fast swap time and a pretty fast downswing animation. The power makes it useful for max damage combos
The Banshee Norn has 24000 HP, 20 ballistic resist, 30 beam resist and 28 melee resist. This is already very durable, but this durability is further boosted by a 30% reduction shield buffer which furthermore blocks beam staggers in NT-D and a 15% (25%) buffer for the legs. It also has both LV1 Maneuver Armor and LV2 (LV3) Emergency Evasion. The values in brackets apply during NT-D.
In terms of mobility it has 130 (135) walk speed, 220 (230) boosting speed, 75 thrust and 78 (87) turning speed. It has mediocre mobility for a general before NT-D, but afterwards it becomes really quick. It has LV2 (LV4) Forced Injector and LV2 (LV3) Flight Control for mobility related skills.
The Banshee Norn has a unique version of the touchpad NT-D skill, where it can activate at 90% rather than 80% HP and drains just 25 HP per second. It's Awaken touchpad ability takes 30 seconds rather than 40 to activate as well. I am running out of space so I will explain the rest in a pinned comment.
Overall I feel that the developers made Banshee Norn way too powerful. It has 0 weaknesses and excels in every single category, there should be no need for any other general now if you have Norn. It can shoot better than Nu and melee better than Sinanju, all while lacking the typical weaknesses that NT-D suits have. I can highly recommend rolling for it, you will be at a significant disadvantage at 700 cost unless you have Norn or a strong support. It will probably end up getting nerfed eventually though. I will explain the rest of the skills here since I ran out of space in the description. Using the Awaken mode stops the HP drain, but unlike Phenex and Unicorn, it has no downsides such as in the form of reducing damage modifiers. It doesn't restore any HP upon use and it does not increase defence, but it increases damage dealt against raids by 15% and lets you heal 15% of the melee damage you do to enemies to your own MS HP. NT-D reduces range mod by 10 but increases melee mod by 10. Banshee Norn also has LV1 Offence System in NT-D mode.

The Awaken lvl 2 also resets overheat and reloads all weapons at the point of activation regardless if the weapon is on cooldown after firing, is in cooldown from overheating or the magazine still has ammo.
So you are saying phenex's awakene mode has -55 on range, -5 on melee, 3k heals and +15% def, while norn awakened mode has only pure buff?! and the fact that norn has 3 range weapon(not including the vulcan), its insane how the dev made that decision on norn.
Unicorn needs a buff big time, man.

I dodge his attack, I even went back to avoid it, the lounge of the weapon was more than enough to catch me, without any burst, and even had enough impulse to keep the lounge after that.

As someone who was lucky enough to get all of the original NTD siblings (Unicorn, Phenex, Banshee), it's going to be hard to want to play any them when this thing exists. It's like it has the best traits out of all of them combined.
Phenex works wonders but Banshee and Unicorn basically can't do anythin
I too, also got the holy trinity of the rx-0 but not norn. Hopefully, FA Unicorn could go toe to toe against norn and not be a fumbled ms.
Releasing something broken is probably a really good way to make money since people don’t want to miss out on such power. I don’t really care either way because I’ll probably still be fine in the suits I’m comfortable with since if a bad player plays a op suit they’ll still be bad
Wish I could say the same thing but literally any A+/S rank lobbies are full of try hards like their life depends on that match. I could even say casual is also full of sweats going all out so once those players get a hang of this suit, there’s no turning back

While Banshee Norn is strong, there has been a recent trend with devs constantly putting out some really strong MS in the past few months, while it might get a nerf if it overperforms too much, the devs might instead do a general buff to other 700 cost units that have aged out just like recent Nu Gundam buff and the 600 cost buffs in response to the Atlas. Maybe they are trying to make higher cost GBO2 into a faster paced game?
However, I see not much problems with Norn staying as is if they do continue the powercreep as it will keep the MS relevant for a long time without the need of buffs.
Improving other units is a good option, not only level one 700 units, but level 4 units for example.
@@akiouruguay4933 I do agree that everything at cost even higher level units would need to get buffed, however older lower cost units also needs to get a general buff from the powercreep over the years. This can especially be seen from MS that are 4-5 years old or have been in the game since the start.
This happened after the Unicorn released. They tried to fix the problem by buffing basically every other 700 cost suit, but they ended up nerfing it in the end anyway.
I am patiently waiting for Nightingale, Sazabi and Zaku IV IP buffs.
I'm surprised the score in the first match was so close considering it took almost 3 minutes for the enemy to shoot at you.

But seriously, even though I normally despise raids(Most of which don't deserve it), I can't help but feel bad for that banshee in the first match. Poor suit just wanted to claw a few people.

At this point there are so many new 700s with crazier stuff than the unicorn that they could probably de-nerf it (outside the psycommu-jack range) with no consequences.
Feels like it just doesn't have the mobility to be as much of a menace as it used to be, with or without the extra health from awakening.
Not to mention the only reason it was nerfed according to the website is that it was being used too much, and not because of the win rate.
If anything they could probably buff it more than that even.
Hot damn this thing looks nuts (700 costs always looks so scary to me lol). You were hella carrying that first match hard for the team. Would be nice if the other RX-0s got buffs in some way to their Awaken modes to match with Norns.

Thank goodness the lifesteal is only on melee damage and not everything else because that would be a bit insane.
Though I would not doubt if there is the FA Unicorn as a support in the future, we could get a ranged lifesteal mechanic and hopefully it is not 15% damage to health conversion.
New tier 800 is needed. It would help the power creep badly in 700. Norn should come there along with making 750 for Unicorns so that becomes less of a need to constant buff and nerf.
700 was planned from the beginning of the game. We really do not need a higher tier of suits, this suit is just too far out of line similar to the Sinanju Stein.

@@ammi5311 NTD policing can still work. They can tier it whatever. Jestas are 600, but appear at 700 and upto 800 if they wish. Majority Players won't play them. For many reasons.
A. Cause it's insane at that tier. I mean there's some great stuff on that tier. Jestas are strong but not the wow factor. Unfortunately.
B. New Shiny stuff can entice them more. I mean I am going to play a Jesta at 800 when i can play also the Unicorn FA at 800??
C. Gameplay >> Lore. I don't like the Unicorn having to downgrade at tier. While the same time I am for buffs and nerfs at that tier. Without the constant work this game would of ended up like Gundam Evolution.
Norn can work as 5 star as it is a banshee upgrade. Newtype versions easily worth 5 star for all Unicorns if they wish.

This MS is just so overwhelmingly powerful. Life drain with those kinds of melee swings is just insane. If 700 meta wasn't completely busted, it is now. How sad for the original Unicorn too, totally obsolete now

IMO it’s the lifesteal is what breaks it, especially when combined with the melee potential it has. If it’s piloted by someone good and supported by a good team, there’s a good chance that guy’s never gonna die…

There are gacha games like captain tsubasa dream team, which has a story mode where for each story you do they give you a coin, the fact is that there are many chapters and if you complete it you have enough coins, plus what they give you for login are bonuses and missions daily you can save a lot gbo2 needs something like this, some way to make token saving easier

I’ve fought against this suit enough times with my Nu Gundam that I honestly don’t think it’s overpowered. The most annoying thing about this suit is that Napalm explosion shot and how far its bayonet can reach but other than that it’s really not that bad. I am debating pulling for it. I mainly only play general suits, and I’m guessing Unicorn FA will be a support.

You know at this point putting GP01FB on ground would have been more balanced than releasing this. I'm not exaggerating. At least FB has shit HP, low melee damage and limited ranged ability.

Hate to say it but ive been loving fighting the norn horde in the full armor zz, two of their stuns are more or less negated and they get chunked by its beam saber
FA ZZ seems like one of the best counters to it. Might be seen more in matches.
@avenger1_gbo260 yeah I saw pretty much every 700 support under the sun in rated last night, from what I've tried kshat can probably melt norn faster and rzulu can probably stunlock better, but fa zz still felt like the safest option

also, in terms of combo starter in Awaken Mode, which one is better, Beam Jutte or Double Beam Saber?
The beam jutte does less damage but is easier to get the knockdown with. The beam sabers do far more damage but are a little more difficult to get the knockdown with. I would prefer to start with the sabers.
The beam jutte deals decent damage but I like to use it as my third melee attack to a downed target to also gain some distance since it launches you if you dont boost out of it
while I don't think it will be like before where it was nothing but 90% horses as the NT-D was more harmful at that time, but it's obvious that this thing is an absolute menace to GBO2 society as a whole and hope to god please make my white horse great again

Hi, one question how do you quick switch to the other melee weapons?
You need to set up the quick swap button combo in the menus before you start the match, then use the appropriate button combo. You can press the options button to see the weapons it has in NT-D while in the menu.
@avenger1_gbo260 yeah when I activate ntd and hold r1 to change weapons the 2 extras don't appear for some reason

@@HybridHenderson"Nerf it to the ground" is why the Unicorn is like the worst 700 suit. How they should nerf it is 1. Lower hp steal to 10% 2. Awaken sets melee back to 35 from 45 3. Lower beam saber x2 to 2800 4. Increase reload on APHE and 5. Make it so if the APHE hits a shield instead of doing full damage to both suit and shield reduce APHE damage to suit by 50% if it lands on a shield

Honestly, as badass Avenger showcased the Banshee Norm, this will still be a pass for me. Here's my reason....a possible newer Pheniex Unicorn. The devs didn't fully utilize the complete ability of the Unicorn Unit 3 which is basically a next generation EXAM. When the test pilot got absorbed within the unit itself, machine and man merged to become a new being that will have a reevented NTD drive system. With that said, the devs if they can get it right can create a Enhanced Phenix Unicorn with the NTD activated, Phase 1 will be Psycho Frame Flight Mode in which the unit will move much faster increasing the melee damage by 10 to 15 percent while not using the thruster gauge due to it's Psyco Frame Wave Rider it will utilize especially for the crazy dodge rolls and backflips enabled. Phase 2 Awaked mode will slowly recharge 30 percent HP while slightly increasing Beam, melee and bullet resistance.
Weapons would be a prototype Beam Magnum that works very similar to the White Dingo proto Beam Rifle but fires like the Buster Rifle from Wing Gundam. Wing shields act like funnels for offense or merge to become a shield when not in flight mode. Standard Unicorn head cannons, Beam scabers along with the wrist mounted beam scabers. Just imagine what a scary sight with an ace pilot like Avenger would do with it.
