@@rinati75 it must be holding up cause I tried it on my curtain rod and the paint hasn't chipped or cracked. I used the same spray paint brand only that it's silver.
I mean I guess you can but I’m not sure how long the paint will stick without the primer since I’ve never tried it. Worse case scenario is you will have to sand it down to strip the paint and start over again. Good luck!!

Awesome job. Just wondering for maintenance of the tap would it not be better to take the tap apart and then spray the parts?

How long did you wait between primer and both coats of gold? How long until you reinstalled and used it?
I just waited until it was dry to the touch between each spraying. Redid the whole bathroom so it took some time before the install.
