I chose the Krylon Short Cuts Gold Leaf and OMG! That is liquid gold in a can😁! I am so obsessed with it! Can’t ty enough!

Thank you for doing this experiment and sharing your findings :) For small objects, like toys or ornaments, I like to use a non-paint item to get a beautiful gold color - Winsor & Newton's calligraphy ink in gold. The color is gloriously beautiful, almost like real 24K gold. It looks a bit orange in the bottle, but trust me, it is the most beautiful gold color when you paint over a surface with it. It is pricey at almost $10 for 30 mL, so I only use it on small objects. Even using it to touch up an already gold painted object will make the gold pop.

I saw once for a few seconds you shook one can but I'd suggest you shake the heck out of those cans for like a minute before you're using them, and shake while your spraying, also use longer sweeping motion. Depress and release spray before and aft sweeps, over lap slightly.

Hmm, that would depend on what the strip is for, what material you'd be spray painting or putting the tape on, and what material the gold tape is made out of.
I like 1and 6 the best! More of a darker gold and thats what i am trying to match on my chrome crystal pendant lights to match some other gold ones I have!
I would get a can of number 8 and 1 can of any cheap gold pain you can find. Use the cheap paint as base, and then use number 8 as the final, top coat.
Hi Riya, I wouldn't recommend spray painting metal jewelry, except maybe earrings. The reason is that spray paint on rings, bracelets, and necklaces that are constantly rubbing against skin and other objects will come off. Because earrings just dangle, spray paint will probably stay on those for a while. I would definitely pick #8 as the prettiest color.

@@riyatripathi11 If the plating has come off but you don't want to throw away the jewelry, you can go to a jeweler and get it re-plated. That would be the best solution. A really cheap solution would be to spray paint it gold and then spray on some lacquer or put some clear nail polish on top of it, but it won't look like polished gold and it will NOT last very long before the gold paint comes off. But it'll look better that what you have now.

Hi Kenna, you are TOTALLY RIGHT that a lot of the spray paints had been sitting in my basement for years! That's why I posted photos of what those same spray paint cans look like now (the current design for those exact colors). I'm a hoarder and keep things around forever until I remember to use them. Unlike brush on paints that come in cans, which get hard and are not usable after they've been sitting around for years, the spray paints were totally fine!
man id be so pissed if i bought that krylon to paint something gold and it came out that color, that is just awful. completely reddish, like copper or rosegold, not gold at all! thanks for the video.
Make better swatches more even strokes maybe use tape to make them sharp. Put them next to each other separated buy a piece of tape. Also do them on a white cardboard or something white. Focus the camera on them for a bit, don't move the camera so much.
Thank you for this video. but when I go online to read the reviews on amazon for Short Cuts-gold leaf...more than half of the people say that it is not the 24 karat gold color of the can cap...they say it's more of a lighter 14K to 10K gold color and show pictures of the comparison...I'm looking for the deeper 24 karat or antique gold look would you say that the short cuts is a true leaf color (24k)? thank you!
