I have attended a couple of Gordon's wonderful intimate gigs but really wish I had the privilege of being at this one! Two of my all-time fave instrumental heroes together!
Julian Kilgallon It is easy! Learn open tunings like open G or DADGAD, less finger work is needed and you can often play full chords fretting with just one or two fingers.
im 27 so was born to late to be around the Yes era. Rik if you ever read this.. When you played at york. you may have noticed everyone else in the croud was wearing suits. yet at the front row me and all my friends were very colourfull... we ran half way though your set from feeling out of place.. possibly it was the acid/cannabis and the surroundings and feelings of everyones eyes on our necks. from Myself and my 6 friedns their that night. sorry to have run away half way through your set..
(gulp).... I'm afraid I don't agree....Rick lets Gordon do the talking as well!!!He does certainly NOT drown anything!Theis is a fabulous conversation that moves me to TEARS everytime I watch it.....
Oops..I don't agree I'm afraid.I sincerely believe the combination is gorgeous. Both musicians play beautifully,I hear a conversation not a competition.Personally I adore Rick Wakeman on piano.
I'd really like to see Jon Anderson do a cameo appearance with these two, with Gordon and Rick working through an intelligent well-though out arrangement.
Not sure if it's just my speakers, but Giltrap's part is too quiet and barely audible. The piano overpowers it, which you'd expect in a completely unamplified setting, but the guitar is plugged in.
Take another listen, the mix is pretty much spot on, sometimes when the combination is a perfect match it can sound 'to prefect', there-by making it difficult to separate either of the instruments. This is in fact prefect matching/playing. If you were to remove either of the instruments it would be very apparent.
Rick has left YES 5 times in total (officially). He simply does not like to tour so much. It has destroyed at least 2 marriages and countless other personal arrangements, both professional and private...give the guy a break. YES, he is getting on in years but next to Keith Emerson among others, he is still a magician. KSR
Its never a bad thing when two people with this kind of talent sit down and play together. Always brilliant. Thanks for posting ..
They complete each other. Two brilliant musicians conversing.Beautiful.
Two genuine gifted musicians and composers. Gordon Giltrap (along with Steve Hackett), are at the top of the acoustic guitar players list.
Anthony Phillips
@@StardustSpace96 How could i forget Anthony Phillips. I do have like 8 of his cds and records.
I can't believe I just stumbled in to this. A genuine masterpiece.
Brilliant ! The Guitar and Piano fit together so well. 2 of my favourite musicians together.
Two masters together!

This is the type of guitar playing I want to aspire to. One day . . . . .

Saw Giltrap in the 1970s at Fairfield Halls Croydon after stumbling across him on the BBC programme Rock Goes To College.
Still have his albums.
Quel Beau Travail!!!!!Thanks for posting!!!!

The FBI? OOOOH! I'm really scared!
Fantastic video!
i love music
Lovely
It kind of sounds like something out of Legend of Zelda. Sublime.
Almost moved to........... no,I dont do that. All the same, bloody marvelous.
Now Rick's son Oliver is playing with Giltrap. That's a nice album.
If you see Wakeman in concert you'll know he uses at least as many keyboards as Giltrap uses guitars - it's just that he uses them all at once!!!
can we do it again? wakeman is king
(gulp).... I'm afraid I don't agree....Rick lets Gordon do the talking as well!!!He does certainly NOT drown anything!Theis is a fabulous conversation that moves me to TEARS everytime I watch it.....

Wasn't it a great night, I've got the DVD/CD, there are audience shots at the begining so you are probably on it.!
Lovely though. Enjoyable.
Mr Keyboard yes there is only at that is Rick Wakeman
thanks so much, i always wondered what the brand of this guitar was...
Strange headstock.

@LovingFilmmaker :O
does anyone know what kind of guitar is this?
The mix is not great - I can hear everything Rick is playing while struggling to hear Gordon properly.
Get your ears syringed
First thing I thought of

@@hebicat I refer you back to my comment. Mix not great.
NexisvNeris@...As a matter of fact I AM a musician.A pianist to be precise.
Purple suits Rick ... looks good on him (no, I'm serious)
Funny that Gordon uses all those custom-made guitars but poor Rick is happy with a standard-issue Yamaha piano.

Herb soup!
The melodies conflict each other in some bits, discuss (20 marks)
the warning at the end makes me want to NOT to copy this.. yes alright.
he is spongebob
lol obviously the FBI threat isn't enough of a threat
