My wife, before we were actually married, asked me "if you could do something . . . " and I said play like Rick Wakeman. She went and bought me a Roland keyboard. I was terrible - all thumbs. But changing waveforms was fun!! Goes without saying that he is phenomenal.
And she said, "the most dramatic music I have ever heard". I loved play the original full version for classical musician who know nothing about Yes or Wakeman. They are forever changed.
... I grew up listening these masterworks ... I was ten yearsold and he´s music captivated my interest since then .... I got/caught myself so immerse in his musical/fantasy realms ....
Love this piece! Superb. Criminal Record and Six Wives are my two favourite albums from Rick. So great to see him performing this in really nice quality video.
I remember buying Rick's album " Criminal Record " when it was first released back in 1977. Side A Chris Squire and Alan White are playing on all 3 tracks. I also believe this album was being recorded at the time of the "Going for the One " sessions in Switzerland. Thank you for sharing this treasure piece of music.
First time I have seen Rick play this amazing piece live. For those that have not viewed them I also recommend the "criminal record" album recordings posted on the tube.
Absolutely LOVE that album...with a good set of Sennheiser headphones and 3/4 volume you can watch GOD appear b4 your eyes, but alas, it's just a grumpy old man....LOL
Not only a god of Keyboard, he was one of the masters of the harmonic universe! Try to make a perfect harmonic analysis of this piece. That’s gonna be real hard work! Rick, Lord, Emerson, Horowitz, Gavrilov, Czifra: Heroes of the keys. How lucky we had them 🎉
A dramaticidade desta música traduz bem o personagem bíblico.

Considering this a complete masterpiece, Wakeman always dedicated themes to conflicive guys like this one and Henry VIII, or non-existent ones, like King Arthur...
"O Fantasma da Ópera" de Andrew Lloyd Weber é de 1986. Rick compôs essa música em 1977. Antes do Rick, Pink Floyd já tinha usado a mesma frase em Echoes, em 1971. Nada se cria, tudo se copia!
Rick is a genius
No doubt about that
Pure genius.

I'm a keyboard and piano player too and I have looked up to him since the late 70's!! He is the "Mozart" of our time! 😊💯👏♥️
I have gone to a concert,of wakeman❤❤❤❤☮️☮️☮️☮️☮️👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏 !! It’s a great gift for all of us
I've gone too and I felt the same thing! Unforgettable!

An absolute masterpiece. Rick Wakeman is a true maestro of keyboard playing. I am a huge fan .
i've been a fan since the 70s.Have all his albums. same with Alan Parsons projects
Nice to see i'm not the only one who thinks this is a great album.
Phenomenal! "Criminal Record" was always one of my favorite Wakeman albums. Great stuff!

I agree to criminal record as the best album of Rick. It's really inspired!
FANTÁSTICO !
RICK WAKEMAN VOLTE AO BRASIL 🇧🇷 PLEASE
Criminal Record is my favorite Wakeman Solo album.
Rick inspired so many of us kids back in the 70s, for good reason, he is amazing!
I found Rick in the early 70’s and he has been my inspiration ever since. Master of all things musical and keyboard.
This is a shear masterpiece! It is one of my all-time favorites... It is amazing.

Blown Away, every time I hear this track...Genius!
"Arthur", Rick Wakeman.
First time I have seen Rick play this amazing piece live. For those that have not viewed them I also recommend the "criminal record" album recordings posted on the tube.
I can't get enough of this wonderful musician! Rick is the greatest!
Criminal Record is pure Wakeman!
Absolutely LOVE that album...with a good set of Sennheiser headphones and 3/4 volume you can watch GOD appear b4 your eyes, but alas, it's just a grumpy old man....LOL

One of my favourite pieces of music ! The children's choir is unbelievable ! Wonderful, thank you Rick !😲
que maravilla por Dios !!!!!!!!!! sublime !!!!
Uno de los grandes músicos contemporáneos .
A keyboard beast in action.
A introdução de King Arthur, seria a minha marcha nupcial. Nunca ouvi uma introdução tão perfeita. Angra dos Reis, RJ 🇧🇷.
His greatest work IMHO.
the Master of the keyboards!
Fantastisch, geen woorden voor!
Here a piano, there a church organ, but what really matters comes from the brave Minimoog...
Masterpiece 🎹 👋
Splendid!
A genius using technology for good !!!!!!!
the ending Moog sound is why i listen to Rick...

Rick is one of a kind😇❣
AMAZING, meu amigo!!
Gracias por este aporte!
A masterpiece. Somewhat similar to Yes 'Awaken' and both recorded in Switzerland, using church organ
The master!
He is master of organs. Heavenly music.
This is great, i have this DVD and i must have seen it thousands of times already!!.
Espetacular composição
The One and only..!!! O ùnico,,,,!!
Ten year listen and watching the white voices coral
Incredible!
Part of my youth !
Yes, HE IS AMAZING !!!!!!!
Have all his music and thid is probably my favourite track. Loud is best 👍
There's just something about when Rick plays a Minimoog...❤
J aime Rick wakeman un dieu!
Muito bom!
Good god, I remember.
MONSTER MOOOG!
Amazing !!
@marty0551 Yes, he used the organ of the St. Martin Church, in Vevey, Switzerland.
Great hands !

Super !!!
Awesome video... Rated 5 stars... Thx =D
Super song!!!
Solo magia. 👍👍👍
@01:30 (and later) 'Phantom of the opera' - but this was also ripped-off from earlier classic music.
Which classical piece?
Andrew, my son, what have you done!
Temazo de Rick.

How did he interpret evil and betrayal into music? Pure God given genius.
I like this version more than the version on criminal record because it doesn’t go on for too long
maldito genio
hmm wonder if any phantom phans were in the audience at the part @ 1:38. id scream yeeeaaaahh
EPIC
Keyboard king
right
@@BerthaDeMellier still the keyboard king 🎹

can you please tell me what DVD is this from? It sure is awesome!
that chromatic modulation at 2:15 - where have i heard that before ?
Phantom of the Opera, which was written after Rick's piece.
You've heard something alike in The Phantom of The Opera.
@@johndaniels8948Thank you so much for this information you provided. I was just wondering who came first.
Genio. Así se escuchan los clavicordios del Vaticano!!!!!!
75 yo. How is he still alive? Guess I'll know in 9 years if I make it.
1:44 😍🤤
Is this intro a mix of Mr. Crowley and Echoes?
or phantom of the opera
I'd much prefer to see this done on a real church organ, but this is still amazing.
They wanted to do it that way but bringing the organ on tour with them proved to be too difficult
Rick Wakeman may be the re-incarnation of J.S Bach in the 20th century.

Genious? I'm not sure.
Surely he is a God!
In the original album, the choir only sang vocals. Can someone tell me what are the kids singing here, please?
