    Wow. And here I was thinking that that little wireless module was what connected my M80 headphones to the equinox detector as a go between. No wonder I couldn’t hear anything out of the headphones! I understand now and I appreciate your video. I bought the detector from a friend and I’m working my way through it and I’m thrilled about the prospect of having wireless headphones after detecting with my ex caliber 1000 for so many years and letting the detector float and having it yank my headphones off of my head! I’ll definitely be pairing the headphones to the detector by Bluetooth to start. He had told me that he was never able to pair the headphones to the detector and now I’m suspecting that it is because he involved the wireless unit thinking again that it was an interface connecting the headphones to the machine whereas it is not in your video has allowed me to realize that.

      Yes, the M80 headphones connect directly to the detector via Bluetooth, and the WM08 is a wireless module that allows you to plug in a set of wired h/phones or earbuds to it, with the link between the WM08 and the detector a WiFi connection which is super fast!

    I, too, didn't know what the WM08 unit was for. Yesterday, my headphones that came with my 800 machine would not turn off. I found this video & it answered all my questions & will be the new way I'll detect with my 800. The headphones are still under warranty so I'll get them replaced as a backup. I also liked you video about getting an extra bottom shaft to make switching coils easier. I ordered a new shaft today. Thank you for your excellent videos.

      Thanks for watching Mark! Happy to hear you’re finding some of the info and tips helpful - it’s always a great reward for me knowing I’m helping others on their detecting journeys. You’ll love the earbuds - so much more comfortable and you can hear your surroundings etc. Best of luck out there!

    Once again Steve, one of the simplest and most comprehensive explanations out there!
    The best use of the WM08 for me would be the ability to wear waterproof headphones during wet weather. The ML80's ARE NOT waterproof, so having this option, for me, is a MUST!
    Hope your detecting is going well and thanks for the content 👍

    I just could not believe that using the WM 08 Wireless Audio Module and the wireless ML80 head phones had to be connected with a wire. All this stuff is WIRELESS! WTF. I did read the manual and just did not want to believe it was SO! I completely understand now. Thanks for sharing...

    • @coilsandcoinsdetecting
      @coilsandcoinsdetecting  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, both the WM08 module and ML80 Bluetooth headphones are wireless. They are both wireless, but not used together. They offer you two different ways to use headphones (or earbuds with the WM08). I prefer the WM08 because it pairs with the detector faster, and allow you to use whatever (wired) earbuds or headphones you prefer!

    I do a lot of beach detecting and recently in strong winds and big surf have been struggling to hear the tones. This is a game changer.

    Thanks Steve. I am going to try this with some hearing aids I now have to see if they will connect. That way when the mobile rings, which I can hear and answer over bluetooth, I may have the best of both worlds, even though, as you say, this is a WiFi connect device. I'll let you know for other users. And also, thank you for your other video about chatter on an 800. got lazy and didn't wash the sand out from under the skid plate and had devil's own trouble the other day. Your vid reminded me of that necessity and problem solved. Regards John

    • @coilsandcoinsdetecting
      @coilsandcoinsdetecting  ปีที่แล้ว

      The WM08 is a specific device for connecting between the machine and your headphones, and uses a proprietary WiFi connection protocol which is quite different to Bluetooth. Not sure if you can pair your hearing aides to the machine via Bluetooth, and if you can does it have a lengthy delay - I’d be interested to know how you go.

    I love using both depending on the weather. if it's a hot day and you are wearing a big hat, the headphones cant be worn properly and if you do wear them with a baseball cap, the headphones cook your ears, so I use ear phones with the module. also in winter when I wear a beanie hat, the earphones with the module is better than headphones over a beanie.
    definitely worth having. 👍

    Could I just ask,
    Is it still advisable to get low latency aptx headphones or buds to connect to the module?
    Would wearing 'normal' wired headphones to the module cause any lag, thanks
    Brilliant informative simple videos by the way, always my go to if I need information! keep up the good work 👍

    • @coilsandcoinsdetecting
      @coilsandcoinsdetecting  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There’s no need to get AptX low latency headphones or earbuds if you’re using the WM08 module. The module connects directly to the controller and has no latency at all, so even the most basic headphones or earbuds can be used once plugged in. Low latency is only a requirement when connecting via Bluetooth (wireless headphones).

  • @830pc209
    @830pc209 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks for the great video. The Nox headphones are definitely hard to wear with a brimmed hat, or when it’s really hot. This just might be the solution.

    • @coilsandcoinsdetecting
      @coilsandcoinsdetecting  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d definitely recommend the WM08 with a pair of wired earbuds for hot conditions. I run the cable under my jacket/shirt, and hook the WM08 on my belt. Best to locate the WM08 as close as possible to the detectors controller to avoid dropouts.

  • @mpalmaffy

    Can this be used with the double ended jack that comes with to connect the 600 to wireless headphones? jack iin headphone port on detector and other end in that module?

    • @coilsandcoinsdetecting
      @coilsandcoinsdetecting  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately not. This module can only be used with wired headphones or earbuds, however the link between the module and the machine is wireless, so you can wear it on your belt and run the cable up under your shirt etc. The best thing about it is that there’s no delay, so no matter what your wear you’ll get instant sounds from the machine.

    • @coilsandcoinsdetecting
      @coilsandcoinsdetecting  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The WM08 uses a proprietary WiFi type communications protocol, and as far as I know is only compatible with the Equinox. You can connect any kind of headphones or earbuds to the WM08 provided it has the 3.5mm jack (or use an adapter).

    Did you know that you can connect Apple AirPods and similar Bluetooth headphones directly to the Equinox. As we know the headphones that come with the Nox are not waterproof or even resistant, so you could pickup virtually any pair of waterproof Bluetooth headphones and detect in the rain. 🤙

    • @coilsandcoinsdetecting
      @coilsandcoinsdetecting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is true, but without aptX low latency capabilities there is a significant lag when using them. Depending on how you detect, this lag can make locating the exact position of the target a bit tricky!

      @@coilsandcoinsdetecting Update. It works. Your comment is 100% correct. I was just out in the yard and I swung over a pulltab. On a normal speed swing I was at least a foot past the target before I heard the beep. It was mega horrible. Ill just keep using the headphones that came with the detector. Another thing, It took quite a long time for them to connect to the detector. 20-30 seconds at least. The earbuds were at full charge and detector was half charge.
