How big is the 4-set tier bonus for fire mages early on? At 48:30 ish you talk about the 2-set which looks pretty big, but so does the 4-set tbh. (Not a mage player btw)

I like mages taking turns if there's more than 1. i.e. 1 week someone is arcane whole time, next week it's a different mage. That way both are priod gear same. Although if 1 mage just really likes arcane then I suppose they could just gear for arcane if you truly never plan to have a ret.
@@Crateria That makes sense, makes prioing more simple as well. I think our plan is to run 2/ mages with the one(s) with the better TTW/FFB set swapping for the first few weeks and then rotating later when gear is more equal.
I got a question for you: As an arcane mage, i am pretty used to do the do the 4xab -> 1x mb rotation. I guess early on in the phase you will probably have a higher chance of getting full T8 rather then go for 2t8+the other juicy off-set pieces. So, if i am in that situation playing 4x T8 and it does proc, i could go for 4ab-mb-mb. BUT: i assume the 4ab stacks will be consumed after i go for first missile barrage therefore completely diminishing the damage-output of the second mb? So i ask myself if its even worth doing the double missile barrage or rather stack up 4 ab again before mb-ing?
If I was geared as FTTW with almost BiS (211 ilvl) gear, would I be able to simply start ulduar as arcane in that gear or would it be absolutely necessary to hunt for arcane gear prior to swapping?

The fight durations and whether or not the arcane set was given mana support is all in Savari's sheet, with MS being 1 vate and 1 tide. For my own sim results I used 3 min and no mana support.

@@BennettHickey from 10 mans you have icecore staff from the same boss, hodir. but yes tokens are good for both specs, especially the shoulders since you can brag other 4 from conquest badges + voa next week with some luck.
IMO Scale of fates is actually worse in comparison to eye of broodmother for fire mages: same amount of passive spell damage 135 vs 132 and 457 haste each 2 min gives average 76 haste that is lower then 92 crit and haste gives less damage then crit (point per point), especially for fire mages so even 1st use with BL+potion won't affect it worth, especially if you already have about 70% raid crit and are using haste pot instead of wild magic
that doesn't take into account CD stacking tho, which the sim does with its model. Eye is a good trinket but the sim shows scale is better for this reason. Also crit isnt always better than haste for fire, it depends on your gear, raid environment, fight length, etc. Lately I actually find haste more valuable in the sim for myself (but Im also alliance).
@@Crateria the only thing that add spell damage is actually second trinket and wild magic pot which gives less damage then haste pot especially after having 65%+ crit already and due to me being Torment fire and having 4 set bonus crit seems to not drop off even futher especially considering that haste doesn't affect lava bomb. Me Being troll isn't affecting it because its multiplicative with haste. Imo it is better only if the fight allow for one last use right at execute phase then the uptime turns for a better percentile and it's best for 2 min 20sec- 2min 30sec fights. My own calculation show that is starts to drop in stats in comparison to YoBMin after 4min 20 sec (3rd use) fight
Maybe I missed something but how on earth is arcane performing better than deep fire in Ulduar? There are several fights with multidotting possibility. Council for example, you still put Living bombs on the two targets that are not being attacked for Hot Streak procs throughout the fight, surely this must beat Arcane in overall output? And since Arcane mages wont see Innervates unless you blow your GM under the table, Arcane will struggle with mana immensely since fights are not 1 minute and 30 seconds like Naxx encounters. Hardmodes will be several minutes, and Fire does not face mana issues. How is Arcane going to compensate for the loss of innervates and the need to use Evocation for the FULL duration? This literally doesn't make any sense. Fights I can understand Arcane will be usefull are XT for heart damage, but that's going to be fixed to the point where you don't NEED the arcane damage. That fight is not 2 minutes, that's a 4+ minute fight, again, mana issues. And especially since a LOT of the time mages faces bad strings we force ourselves to hard cast Arcane missiles not to oom because the game decides to blow some up our a** and not proc the barrage, ever. Mimiron? Fire. All the way. Literally the dream fight for a Fire player. Literally a nightmare for Arcane. Theres too much movement. Actually, there's a lot of movement throughout the entirety of Ulduar. Movement benefits fire, not arcane. I dont know, I can go on and on. I dont see how arcane will compete when theres so much going on during the fights. If you think you're going to stand still for minutes during the encounter you'd be dead wrong. There's literally constant moving on almost all the fights. I don't know. Arcane beating fire in Ulduar seems sketchy. I guess reality will hit us once the gear starts rolling in.
There are fights that you will run FFB or Fire on. But Arcane is still strong for most of them and will be a core spec for Algalon for earlier kill potential. Up until you get to the Keepers, Arcane can turret prior encounters including Iron Council (although mana management for that one is important to really push Steelbreaker) where Arcane gets the strongest benefit from the spellstolen rune and standing on rune. Thorim is amazing for IA spec for Hard mode considering how much frost spells are present. Same can be said about Mimiron with the amount of Fire damage is present and periods between each phase that evocation can be used. The last phase of Firefighter is where FFB and Fire could be stronger. Hodir is a tossup as FFB can gain insane benefits in the fight, but Arcane still has the overall higher turret dps. I would say more likely FFB and Fire for it. Freya is almost a definite win for FFB/Fire especially with how Blast Wave can assist against the exploding lashers. Yogg-1 (and especially 0) definitely favor Fire and FFB. Keep in mind that with IA spec running Frost Warding, there is a lot of mechanics that give Arcane even greater mana sustain with benefits. Being able to manage mana as Arcane is what comes into play pertaining to player skill and as more gear is obtained. Fights get shorter which means Arcane only gets stronger for it.

But the fact that you have to constantly keep moving on alot of the fights, I literally dont see how arcane damage will beat Fire when you constantly have to be on your toes. And the spellstolen shield and rune is not only beneficial for arcane on Council, I dont know what you are on about? you have greater range/multidotting targets, more hot streaks, and at the same not NOT worrying about any kind of mana issues. Hodir and Cat lady maybe, rest of the encounters actually have mechanics you have to deal with, meaning less uptime, and therefore making the fight longer, making fire stronger. No? @@giefnameplox Arcane mages have mana issues if you get bad strings which you can't control. Arcane mages have mana issues if fights are longer than 3 minutes. If you go into a full save-mode on mana, your damage is going to suffer, a lot.

On these sims, what proc rate did you set the T8 4piece for Fire to be? And in the sims is there also no internal CD (can keep proccing in a row)?
I believe osthyvel has it set to 20% and yes it has no ICD and can result in chain casts of pyroblast in the sim

iirc it's a tiny dps increase on longer fights but that was about it

haste is still good for fire, while crit is pretty crap for arcane, and most mages play both specs, so reckless is the play
