Concerning the eyelids, I think they’re saving the gold lettering for the 50th anniversary similar to what they did with the Jubilees for the 25th. Always a great history lesson with y’all OGs. Amazing review my man! I consider myself a OG head too. I was a senior in HS in 06. I wanted the dmp pack so bad but couldn't afford them. I got the Gratitudes on shock drop as well and I gotta say I love them! I have other 11s but this is my first pair with the upper leather. It's a nice touch and the quality just feels top notch. I wish the packaging was a bit more special though. I'd love to have the og dmp but I'm happy with these.

I'm a og at 53 and the Jordan 11's are my all time favorite. Was so happy to cop my first ever shock drop W with these Gratitude 11's. Got em in the other day and I love them. I still wear my space jams, concords and breds all the time. Great video and review!👍

I hit for the gratitudes on the shock drop a week ago and I just hit for the black a ma maniere’ 5s today and (a pair of Yeezys foam runners for under retail 3 days ago ). Ima wear the runners but these other two gone sit a year or two while I cop some more shit. Really looking forward to military blue 4s next year and the blue foams
I'm glad I was able to add these to my collection, and I still have my Concords from 2018 . They still DS, but I'm definitely happy I have these, and it's definitely a clean shoe
Just one little correction; the reason the original gold lettering pairs got recalled wasn’t because of falling off. It was because the gold lettering was bleeding onto the white mesh severely. I’m sure you can find pictures. I remember one of the OG NT members got a pair with the gold lettering from Eastbay and his upper mesh was stained really bad.
Some did and some were corrected but JB ultimately decided to recall and remove altogether. There are a few I’ve seen still intact and no bleeding and others missing letters.
I absolutely love this shoe. Everybody compares it to the dmp for obvious reasons, but this is not that shoe. I truly feel as if this was a gift from Nike to OG shoe heads we complained and griped for years about the original cut leather being higher they fixed it.The jumpman being backwards they fixed it.The mesh being hard to clean they fixed it. This shoe is the crème de la crème of retro Jordan’s and I’m beyond grateful that I was able to get a pair to put up and a pair to rock.

The white mesh always made a pair of 11s feel cheap to me, that’s why I passed when I had a chance to get a pair of Concords. Looked good in pics but once I got a pair in my hands and really got a feel for the material it felt like I was gona shell out money for a pair of K-mart Shaq shoes- couldn’t do it. Glad I got another chance at this color way and set up with the Gratitudes. Also got mine Shockdrop, the leather definitely makes for better quality in my eyes, easier to keep clean too
Very nice shoe, but i think adding those Jubilee touches would have been icing on the cake. Jordan, down the side, would have been the perfect touch. It's still a great shoe Im glad to have in rotation🔥
I prefer mesh in general, but the higher cut patent leather and better quality makes these better than DMP for me. I’ve never liked the letters on the lace loops
The Gratitudes are my first pair of 11's and from what I've seen, I think I made a wise choice. 11's seem to be pretty collectible, and these look like they were made with that in mind. I love the leather upper. It shouldn't yellow like mesh, and should be easier to keep clean. I'm glad they ditched the icy blue bottoms and went with the milky look. These are already the color that they would age into! They kind of do feel like a boot, with the way your heel drops down into them, and they squeak a little from the leather, but I find them to be comfortable and they definitely turn heads. I noticed a crease starting to form in the patent leather, but oh well. I didn't get these to keep in a box. All in all, I'm pleased with them...
Got mine in hand today. I was nervous about the milky soles but it looks great! Not as yellow as I thought it would be. Also, feeling the leather upper compared to the mesh Last, the gold metal jump man and 23 is much better than stitched 10/10 shoe
As a sneakerhead that has the OG concords from the 90s up to 2012, i can say that this is the way the jordan 11 should look like. That leather upper is way premium feeling than the balistic mesh. Leather will last more longer and will mold into your feet as the years go by and wont be as dirty or yellow through the years.
Dang. Hard to choose between getting this retro or restoring my 06 pair. Love the soles on the og pair but with the way how the ‘23 pair looks, they’re definitely growing on me 😭

Awesome review and comparison 👏 I managed to get some, but gotta wait til tomorrow. Without having them in hand, I'd say the only thing I wish they would've kept, was the lower patent silhouette. Other than that, i prefer this version.
In black I prefer mesh but that white mesh is hard to clean and it gets yellow really fast so I kind of do prefer the leather upper just for that reason but the way that the mesh looks and feels is way better so there’s pros and cons in both

Correct. Which is why I always use my dmp 11’s as the reference standard in terms of shape and patent leather width. I wish they would make it that way again.

I love them in person. The DMP 11s have been my favorite 11s since it came out because of the Gold hits. I Loved the leather on my 72-10 so seeing it come to these was a nice switch up. I think the mesh looks super clean when fresh but they also start to look bad just as fast once the mesh stains. I can appreciate both leather and mesh. Hot take: After seeing these which are a twist on the DMP 11s, what if instead of dropping the DMP 6s they dropped a pair with black tumbled later instead of the nubuck?
I love them, but I am tired of the price raises. 230 and up is just getting too rich for my blood. Sad day, guess it’s time for my 43 year old ass to move on. Next pair of sneakers I am buying are Crown Hampton, hand made.

You buy one to rock one to stock for every pair you review? I see you said you went to multiple places for the DMP and your friends got the wrong size, does it matter if you’re just collecting it? Or you want even the collection to be your own size?
Not every pair I double. Used to do that in the early to mid 2000s. I double on pairs I want to rock and if I ever sell the collection at some point, it’s easier to sell to another collector who wears the same size.
They’re not going to give us the extras and special touches anymore. They’ve learned that we’re going to buy them regardless so there’s no incentive for them to do so. 🤷♂️

I remember the 06 DMP having a higher cut leather and really liking it. It’s crazy that today, it’s even higher. Big fan of the higher cut myself.

The issue wasn’t the letters falling off on the sample DMP’s , it was the letters bleeding on the mesh.
