I have a Brigg 18.5 Intek so is that 594593 the correct one. The Niki totally hydro locked my complete engine and cylinder so it wouldn’t turn over so went through 2 batteries think the first wasn’t high enough amps so bought the highest amp one and still wouldn’t turn over then smoked my hardly used Ariens 42 starter I’ve had for years but never could get what was wrong. Never dreamed the carb would do this but I did wonder why Ariens didn’t put a fuel shut off on it either . Spent 19 days in the hospital with Covid a year and a half ago which they all said was a miracle I lived through it. But was going to say since Covid my mind and memory went south but slowly coming back.
Jeremy. GREAT video. I have had about a 30% success ratio on cleaning the NIKKI Carburettors. This is great video on that reasons why. Thanks my friend. What we need it s conversion chart to what a Walbro will replace the Nikki. Thanks a lot for your knowledge. I see some great comments below as well.
Yes, if anyone has put together a Niki to Walbro conversion chart please share it. Or, at the very least offer it for sale at a modest price. We all need such chart. As mentioned in these comments, I have just been purchasing Chinese knockoffs which is "hit or miss" but luckily most seem to work ok for me. Have had to enlarge a main jet on a few but otherwise they are better than trying to make the original Niki work. You can spend a ton of time and money trying to rebuild one and still not come up with a good working carb. I don't mess with them anymore if I can find a knockoff.
The first NIKKI I worked on was stuck together really bad. Spent some time prying it apart without breaking anything. Finally figured it out & got everything cleaned & back together running great. I do not understand the reasoning behind this design. Sure a lot of plastic verse metal but I do not see how muck that actually saves. Stay safe, Joe Z
I went all the way through one of those Nikki carbs and probably because of the third o-ring I could not get my Murray to run right so I ended up having to blow a bunch of money on a another one. I finally ended up getting a Chinese knock off that worked a lot better. It cost me a lot of money and it was a lesson learned about Nikki carburetors for sure
@@kurtknispel9170 oh yeah absolutely! I know that nowadays but this story took place a while back when I was still a bit of a novice as far as the internet went. I was buying my parts from a small shop in my college town here. Well they got bought out and I was forced to roll the dice on eBay etc. I'm glad I did I've had more good experiences than bad ones..
I totally agree!! Nikki carbs are a huge pain in the butt!! I've had some of them apart 5 or 6 times, clean and reassemble, repeat. Maybe it works on the first time sometimes it take sever times. Those air passages are a real pain. And those tiny "o" rings... you need a preschooler with tiny fingers!! The main body gasket can be a real turd getting it to stay in position while getting the bowl on.
OMG I hate my nikki carb!!! How do I go about finding the right Walbro carb to fit my Briggs & Stratton snowblower engine model 20A114-0363-E1, Nikki Carburator part # 696737 or 796122? I so want to change to a more conventional carb!!!
Got the Nikki '6' on my Kawasaki V-twin rider. Only 7 years old and already screwed up. Where can I find a rebuild kit? The John Deere dealer has none. Thank you!!!
So I can replace the nikki for that walbro. I'm actually just starting to work one one and went to where I usually buy my parts they said they didn't have it but it about $150. It's not even mine and the guy wants to sell it for $200
The guy who designed the Nikki was a transmission tech. 😂I have a brand new Nikki sitting in my toolbox. Customer ordered it. Wrong carb for the application. Didn't want it back.
I do not like working on the Nikki carbs. Even putting them thur my ultra sonic cleaners often does not work. Some are replacable with a Walbro but I do not have a list of the ones that can be replaced. Do you know what ones are replacable with a Walbro? Thanks for that excellent video.
I am a small engine mechanic as well as a certified electronics tech and I do not mind either one. Walbro had better quality carbs imo. Walbro uses brass seats and more quality stuff. But that said the nikki does perform well if properly cleaned and maintained.
The Nikki carburetors are bad enough oem but aftermarket Nikki clones are terrible. On Briggs single cylinder engine I replace the Nikki with a aftermarket walbro clone.
Why they made Nikki's that way? Answer: Easy & simple carbs were already designed & patentened ! Lets make a complicated, convoluted, half plastic, quadruple gaskets & o-rings POS that we can sell more expensive parts & kits for! Anti-Geniuses!
When they come to our shop with an issue, the Nikki goes in the scrap bin. We just replace it with a 594593 Walbro.
What do I use for older briggs?
Thank you kindly for your videos you are making me understand much more 👋 from 🇨🇦 #YSW respect back to you 🙏

Do you ever use the 594605? My understanding is the 594593 is for 15hp and the 594605 is for 17+ hp
It’s the best way to go 😊😊😊

I am with you on simple is usually better.
Walbro is the best and easiest for sure. Cut those pinnacles off those fuel solenoids

The answer to this question is very simple. They are not very reliable, and I can buy three clone carbs for the price of a Nikki rebuild kit.
I have torn tons of these apart over the years, and I always salvage any good parts that I can off of them so that I don't have to keep buying kits.
They definitely took a page from Honda. Gaskets for days

The Chinese knock off that you bought, is it a Walbro style or a Nikki style?
@@khoale1537 It was the nikki
@Titus357 Totally agree
Why do they want make something simple so complicated.
Walbro is the best because they use the KISS principle. Keep up the good work with the great videos.

You’re The Best Jeremy. I’ve been with you many years now. You’re a true professional in my book. Thanks for sharing your vast knowledge
$30.00 to $40.00 worth of parts and a china replacement (a Walbro copy) is about $15.00 to $25.00.
Scamazon carbs suck. Use oem
Wow! Thanks. I sure I’m going to see one this summer. Winter in Ohio now🥶

Time to scrap it
@@THEMOWERMEDIC1 I think so too! Thank you I'll pass on the advice to the owner 🤷♂️
Dirty air filter is a killer for these carbs and it he’ll getting dirt out unless you acid them for a hour at least
So can we put a old school carb on a 21hp.
Nikki engineers should be imprisoned. Gross technical incompetence.
Kits are way to high and it’s a gamble
Cheap way is to replace with a rebuild able carb makes sense to me
The guy who designed the Nikki was a transmission tech. 😂I have a brand new Nikki sitting in my toolbox. Customer ordered it. Wrong carb for the application. Didn't want it back.
What liquid do you use in your ultrasonic cleaner
I fully agree with you on the Nikki's, can't stand them. 👊
Which Waldo do you use on 22hp
I rebuilt a nikki...and I need 2 walbro carbs for 10.5 and 12.5 HP Briggs approx 20 years old...are they interchangeable?
Yes
Don’t spray carb cleaner on the Nikki gaskets or they will swell and you won’t get the carb back together.
Gasoline with ethonal distorts & swells those rubber o-rings in those Nikki carburetors.
I’m gonna start calling them leaky Nikki’s 😂😂😂

Call Hipi store
A new Nikki at the Deere dealer; $402.00. Ridiculous.
i find the nikki easy to work on and last 10 years in between service intervals. so lasting 10 years is great. thanks Lewis
True story.
If your nikki is blocked and needs reco works out cheaper just to buy a new one or change over to walbro
I have never heard of Nikki carbs
them carburators are a pain in the behind
There is nothing good about them period and oem kit is higher than the engine 😢😢😮
I am a small engine mechanic as well as a certified electronics tech and I do not mind either one. Walbro had better quality carbs imo. Walbro uses brass seats and more quality stuff.

I hate Nikki carbs. They're just so unnecessarily complicated. The old Briggs carbs where so simple. Why change something that just works?
I just don’t like the Nikki period
There is no dropping bowls and fast clean like the walbro

ya way did they make it so complicated... Nikki are junk i thour them in the scarp bucket 🪣
