If there was a teaser poster that asked "Who's in for the Royal Treatment?" with Shrek and Artie shown only, it'd probably fit well with the king story arc but who knows.
I feel like the deceptiveness of the first poster was intentional and that's one of the praises I can actually give this movie. You think it's going to be about Shrek having to deal with becoming king, the opening sets that up, and then bam here comes the plot point of Shrek abandoning the position laid out for him and learning he's going to become a father. I also really like how he's the only one not smiling in the poster, showing that fish out of water thing 2 set up that's gonna play into the first act of this. My biggest gripe with it is why isn't _CHARMING_ there?? He's literally the main antagonist and he was a huge highlight of the second one, which I think would make people want to see it even more. Have him peep over the featureless void everyone's standing on with envy or behind the S or something. Moreover why isn't he on the poster but GINGY is???

Japanese poster looks like something AI would generate if you asked it for detailed Shrek movie poster. Composition, strange perspective, lots of random stuff in the background trying to fake details are very AI things to do
The running Shrek on the Shrek 3 Poster looks like he was just reused from another alternate Shrek 1 poster (I think it's the European version or smth), but with a crown photoshopped on. And even tho the Shrek 3 "running" poster looks really bad, the Shrek one I think is actually good and my favorite one out of all of them. Unfortunate that you didn't mention it.
Regarding the first Dhrel 3 theatrical poster, maybe they tried to pull a Scream on us, where they try to make you think they're going to do the Drew Barrymore protagonist route just to psyche you and pull a 180°. But honestly, I would've prefered seing Shrek try to be king, just imagine the mayhem!
Would've been a MUCH stronger film. The original draft for Shrek 2 had him running for president...why not dust that off and use some it? Dreamworks was sitting on gold and they weaved it into bronze.

That’s a great poster. Here in the US I don’t believe it was used for any of the DVDs. But it was often used for advertisements. It’s pure 2000s CGI awesome.

Speaking of Shrek movie posters...I decided to buy myself a large, but very high-definition quality Shrek 2 poster from eBay a few months ago. I was so happy when I got it in the mail and I then quickly put it up right away, above my little black nightstand table that has all my beauty and non-shower hygiene products sitting on it 24/7. One of the best movie posters of all time was sitting up high on the wall of my bedroom, right across from my bed. 💚 So it was pretty much like Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, Puss, Gingy, Queen Lillian, and even those trifling hooligans that are King Harold, Prince Charming, and the Fairy Godmother...were all looking down and watching over me while I slept, just like the Gods of Swamphalla that they are. 🙏🏻 The other night, like a week or two ago I think, I woke up to a loud sound. It sounded like something fell over. It scared the Shrek out of me tbh. I sat up and looked in front of me and, to my horror, my Shrek 2 poster had fallen over onto my little black nightstand table. It was slumped over, like how Shrek was when Donkey accidentally kicked him in the onion balls after Puss tried and failed to assassinate him. How could this have happened?!?!? I thought I used the strongest tape possible?!?!?!? Why did the tape weaken and cause my poster to fall over and mess up my nightstand?!?!?!? WHY SHREK, WHY?!?!?!? SHREK, WHY ME?!?!?!? Disturbed, confused, angry, and upset...I hobbled over to the slumped over poster and tried to put it back up. It stuck back and acted like it should've always acted until the end of time for like twenty seconds, only for it to fall over again. I tried to fix it again by taking off the old tape and putting on some new pieces. Big. Devastating. Mistake. Trying to rip off the old tape ended up ripping the poster up. Looks like the tape was strong after all, just not strong enough to support itself on the wall until the end of time like I had previously hoped. I then committed the ultimate act of BLASPHEMY, and threw away my Shrek 2 poster in frustration at how its once perfect form was now ruined. As I was crumpling its large poster self up so it could fit into the kitchen trash can my mother probably bought from Walmart, I asked Shrek for his forgiveness. And I still ask for it to this very day. 🙏🏻 Forgive me, my Ogrelord and savior. Forgive me, ALL-MIGHTY Shrek. The other Gods of Swamphalla, please forgive me. Now the wall above my nightstand is as naked and bare as the first few seconds of when I was born, with none of my cherished Shrek franchise characters watching over me during my slumber. 💔

Well, outside of How to Train Your Dragon 1&2, I guess. And TECHNICALLY the Shrek ones follow that generic formula, too.

@@ThePreciseClimber It was OK. I wish Softpaws and Humphrey looked a little better. They just kinda “stuck” the renders on that sidewalk. Now the original DVD cover and 4K poster…there’s a beauty!
@@austin_the_brimstone Sure glad Dreamworks' 4k Blu-rays used the better-looking covers instead of those generic ones, with one or two characters in front of a single-colour background.
